“Vidya is currenly at Cannes and Siddharth is expected to join her towards the end of the Cannes International Film festival. Both of them are expected to be in France post the fest for a small holiday,” said a source close to the actress.

Vidya is a jury member at the fest, where India is the guest country this year.

The actress tied the knot with Siddharth Roy Kapur, the managing director, Studios, Disney UTV, in December last year.

Vidya made three appearances in traditional Indian costumes – maroon lehenga, an ivory sari paired with a brown blouse and light pink anarkali – on three different occasions on the festival inaugural day Wednesday.

Mukherjee says she was dressed in “a purist ethnic look, almost like a Golconda princess”.

Drawing inspiration from William Dalrymple’s book “The White Mughal” and the bygone days of princesses, the outfits were made with Indian textiles such as khadi, kanjeevaram, handspun cottons, and Benarsi textiles.

The designs were accessorised with traditional jewellery, strings of pearls, sapphires and beautifully set polkis by Amrapali and Pankaj Surana.

“India has always been a country of excess, rather than minimalism. We brought back what India truly stands for. Cannes saw a representation of Indian textiles and handicrafts. The jewellery is by Pankaj Surana and Amrapali,” the designer said in a statement.

“Thanks to sync sound, the film does not need actors to dub for the film. Almost everything has been locked. It is great that the entire team is taking a break before they start the promotion of ‘Ghanchakkar’,” the source added.

“Ghanchakkar”, releasing June 28, is said to be a quirky comedy surrounding a marriage between a Maharashtrian man and a loud Punjabi housewife.

Apart from the regular stars whom we see at the Cannes, there is an addition of new upcoming Bollywood stars who shall be seen at the film festival aswell.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The actress was first seen walking the red carpet at Cannes in 2002 for the promotion of her movie, Devdas and she’s been a regular since then. She’s one of the most beautiful actresses to ever grace the Cannes representing Indian Cinema. This year, she will be present at Cannes as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal Paris, which is completeing 16 years as the official make-up partner of the Cannes festival.

Vidya Balan

This will be Vidya Balan’s first appearance at the Cannes. The actress has been invited to be a part of the prestigious 10 member jury that includes Hollywood filmmaker Steven Spielberg. The promising star, who’s well known for her roles in movies like, Kahani and The Dirty Picture, commented that she shall be seen in her favourite attire – Saree!

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor will also be seen at the Cannes film festival as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal and this shall mark the third time of her being present at Cannes. The actress along with Aishwarya Rai and Freida Pinto, who are joint brand ambassadors of L’Oreal, will be sporting the brand’s new sunset  look which is said to be inspired by Bollywood’s different eras, to mark 100 years of Indian Cinema.

Rajinikanth

The trailer of  Kochadaiyaan will be unveiled at the film festival and this Rajnikanth’s movie has been anticipated for a long time! Deepika Padukone stars opposite Rajnikanth and it’s claimed to be the first 3D Indian movie with motion capturing technology.

Sherlyn Chopra

Sherlyn Chopra the ‘outrageous’ sensation will also be seen at Cannes to unveil the second trailer of her new movie, Kamasutra 3D. The actress shall be accompaied with the film’s director Rupesh Paul.

Anurag Kashyap

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who last time made it to the Cannes for his movie Gangs of Wasseypur will be seen again for the premier of Bombay Talkies. This movie is a compilation of four short movies by Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap. It’s also a tribute to a 100 years of Indian Cinema.

Nandita Das

Actress Nandita Das who was previous seen as one of the jury members in 2005, will once again be seen at the Cannes this year. The actress will again join the jury for the short films category.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The talented actor who’s done a great job in his latest Bombay Talkies  will be seen on the red carpet for not just one, not two but three of his movies with Dabba and Monsoon Shootout being the other two.

Vidya, who recently tied the knot with Aditya’s elder brother Siddharth Roy Kapoor, invited family and close friends to the celebrations. After his roles in big starrers “London Dreams”, “Action Replayy” and “Guzaarish”, the movie marks Aditya’s first solo hero movie.

“It was a small celebration at home, which was a very sweet surprise that came in… We all had a great time,” Aditya said in a statement.

A source said: “Aditya loves rajma-chawal and he gorged on it while having a gala time. It was a very thoughtful gesture from Vidya.”

His jodi with Aishwarya Rai was very much lauded in Enthiran. And being the superstar that he is, his pairing up with Deepika Padukone in Kochadaiyaan is expected to mesmerise aswell.

Apparently, there are rumours that Rajnikanth will be seen opposite ‘The Dirty Picture’ siren Vidya Balan in her next film with K.V. Anand. Further details of the movie have not been disclosed so far. And maybe they won’t be disclosed until the release of Kochadaiyaan.

In another coincidence, while Vidya Balan has been selected to be among the jury members in this year’s Cannes Festival, Kochadaiyaan’s trailer would be showcased at Cannes this year and Rajini is also expected to attend the festival. It must be noted that it is the 66^th edition of the festival and the D-Day is May 15.

Rajnikanth bats for Sanjay Dutt!

In other news, while the whole Bollywood industry his voicing their support for Sanjay Dutt, superstar Rajnikanth has also joined them.

Rajnikanth, whom Sanjay Dutt even paid a visit during his recent shooting schedule in Chennai, has batted for the Khalnayak star saying that he is pleased about the chorus of support for Sanjay Dutt and that he will pray to God to ensure that his remaining life can be spent at peace.

Titled “Jholuraam”, the song describes Emraan’s character in the film and it was shot in Mumbai over the weekend. A source close to the team told IANS that Emraan came up with quirky steps for himself and Altaf Raja during the shoot.

Director Rajkumar Gupta admits that the song will reflect the actor’s creative inputs.

“Emraan is a real professional actor. He has great insight into things. It was his idea to carry the look he has in the film for the music video and I have to say that has worked wonders,” Gupta said in a statement.

“He always comes up with suggestions that are really helpful. He is totally invested in ‘Ghanchakkar’ and when you see the music video of ‘Jholuraam’ featuring him and Altaf Raja, you will see Emraan’s touch in it too,” added Gupta.

“Ghanchakkar”, which also features Vidya Balan, is slated to release June 28.
