A romantic comedy, Student of The Year is about three school friends Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan), Abhimanyu Singh (Siddharth Malhotra) and Shanaya Singhania (Alia Bhatt). Rohan subconsciously craves for his father’s attention and has a deep need to belong in his father’s life. He now has a secret agenda in mind which according to him will get him the respect and attention from his father. On the other hand, Abhi comes from a middle class family and join’s the big school hoping to make it big in the real world and be as successful as his arch enemy Rohan’s father. As luck would have it Rohan and Abhi end up as best friends but their friendship is destroyed by the love for the same girl, Shanaya. After a whole lot of evil twists and turns, friendship prevails (and restores faith in humanity) and the three friends are closer than ever.
