Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor was born on 9 June 1985 in a Bollywood family. Her father Anil Kapoor is also a Bollywood actor. Apart from her career in acting, Sonam Kapoor is a well trained classical dancer. She has appeared in over 7 movies as of 2013.
Before starting her career as a Bollywood actress, Sonam worked as an assistant director for Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 2004, for his movie Black which was released in 2005. Sonam made her acting debut in 2007 in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. Though the movie was not a box office hit, Sonam Kapoor’s role was appreciated by the critics. Sonam did not do any movie in 2008 but in 2009, Sonam appeared in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi-6, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Delhi-6 was also an unsuccessful movie.
In 2010, she appeared in Punit Malhotra’s I Hate Luv Storys opposite Imran Khan. The film went on to become her first box office success and also her first commercial success. Later the same year Sonam appeared in Aisha opposite Abhay Deol. The movie did not flop, but wasn’t a hit either. After the release of Aisha, Sonam Kapoor was known for her style and the media tagged her as a fashionista. Her first release of 2012 was Players, opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The movie was a flop and received negative reviews from the critics.
On a personal front, Sonam Kapoor was speculated to be having an affair with her Saawariya co-star Ranbir Kapoor. But both the actors denied it and the rumours died eventually. In 2010, it was rumoured that Sonam Kapoor was dating director Punit Malhotra of I Hate Love Story’s fame. But both the celebrities denied the affair.
