Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’ which released on 8 March, opened to a good start, collecting a total of Rs. 12.75 crore over the weekend. The film which stars Irrfan Khan, Mahi Gill, Jimmy Shergill and Soha Ali Khan, made a total of Rs. 3.50 crore on Friday, with collections rising to Rs. 4.25 crore on Saturday and that touching a decent Rs. % crore mark on Sunday.

Mumbai, Punjab and Delhi did the best business. Despite collections falling drastically on Monday, as per trade analysts, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns will do thrice better business than Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.

On the other hand, the other release of last Friday, Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga, opened to a very poor start, collecting a sum of Rs 35 Lakh.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “The reports of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns are not so encouraging but considering that the film is made on a stipulated budget, it might just breakeven during the course of the week. If the film had been little better, it would have proved to be an earning proposition at the box office. On the other hand, Saare Jahaan Se Mehnga – contrary to the title – has proved to be a costly mistake to its makers. The film will lose money for everyone involved.”

The coming week would see the release of three films, 3G-2013, starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan, Jolly L.L.B. starring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani, and Mere Dad Ki Maruti, starring Saqib Saleem and Rhea Chakraborty.

Meanwhile Kai Po Che collected Rs 12.85 crore in its second week making its total to around Rs 40.38 crore after two weeks.

Soha Ali Khan who plays the role of Ranjana in Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam Returns, says that since the origin of the character was set against a royal background, she could easily relate to her character.

Being from a royal family, Soha Ali Khan understood the real depths of her character. But when it comes to surviving in the fast life of a Metropolitan like Mumbai, Soha Ali Khan’s royalty takes a back seat. When questioned if her real like much like her reel life, the actress laughs and says, “I am living a in a two bedroom flat in the suburbs of Mumbai and am dependent on a single maid to do household chores who strangely does not turn up most of the time and end up doing all the work. What royalty are we talking about then?”

She also adds that the Royal life is fading away and is being replaced by independent lives. She says “I remember my grandmother telling us to be controlled with our emotions especially in public. We were taught to be restrained in our behaviour and I have essayed my character in a similar fashion in my film “

Soha Ali Khan finds the hero-heroine concept in cinema, illogical and absurd. The actress prefers a character driven role over the “hero-heroine dynamics” of Bollywood.

“I don’t think about hero or heroine! I look for character-driven scripts. I find the words hero or heroine very absurd. We all play characters,” Soha told in an interview.

She added, “When I did my first film ‘Dil Maange More’, I chose the character of a girl who chooses her career over the boy. But then everyone was like, ‘You are not the heroine of the film! She has to get the hero.’ But I felt the other role was more interesting,” Soha said.

The 34-year-old however appreciates the kind of cinema the Indian film industry is witnessing currently.

“It is not hero-heroine driven. It is not even star-driven. It is script and plot- driven… this is more exciting for me,” she said.

The actress doesn’t want to restrict herself to a particular genre and wants to focus on doing good cenima only.

“I want to be part of good cinema…with songs or without songs, with or without masala, with or without Salman Khan. The story should be good, the character should be good. If I like the environment and role, then I will do it. Whether it works or not is secondary,” she said.

Soha Ali Khan also regrets being a part of some films. However, she doesn’t let that affect her much.

“There is no point regretting anything. I don’t look into the past. Of course, there are films which I have done, which have not worked. But I don’t dwell in those,” she said.

Soha will be seen next in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns.

After the very successful Paan Singh Tomar that has already attained a cult status, Tigmanshu Dhulia is back with Irrfan Khan for the second time with ‘Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns’, a sequel to the 2011 hit Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.

The sequel stars Jimmy Shergill, Irrfan Khan, Mahie Gill and Soha Ali Khan in the lead roles.

The first part of the film saw deep intimacy between lead character. However, the sequel will see less sensuality.

“There is sensuality in the film (sequel) but it is in little measure. I think it is effective only like that. I feel it should have right amount of passion and sex. I think if you show too much then it might look bad also,” Tigmanshu told reporters.

Actors Soha Ali Khan and Irrfan, who weren’t in the cast of the original film, will be part of this new installment.

The film is set against the backdrop of politics among the royal families, revolving around a begum, her nawab and an ambitious young man.

Sahib Biwi and Gangster Returns will hit theatres on March 8.

It was just recently that news was doing the rounds that Neha Dhupia has opted out of Tigmanshu Dhulia’s sequel to 2011 film Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. Neha was supposed to be a part of an item song. However, looks like Neha’s loss is Mugdha Godse’s gain!

Yes! Mugdha Godse, who came into the limelight with her debut movie Fashion has been roped in to replace Neha.

Neha had to opt out due to date issues. Confirming the same, Neha tweeted, “Much against my wishes n the team of #sahebbiwigangster2 , I had to opt out of the item song as my dates did not work out! The time I spent with #tigmanshudhulia and his team was tons of fun. N v look forward to workin with each other in the future! #clarified”

When there was doubt whether the news of Mugdha being roped in was true or not, Producer Rahul Mittra confirmed,”We have finalised Mughda after Neha expressed her inability to do the item number. Mugdha is a good dancer and she will surely add to the oomph factor required for the song.”

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns is going to star Irrfan, Jimmy Sheirgill, Soha Ali Khan, Mahie Gill, Randeep Hooda and Raj Babbar.
