Rohit Shetty was born on 14 March 1973 in Mumbai. With a keen interest in movie since childhood, he decided to become a director. He started his career as an assistant director in Phool Aur Kaante.
Rohit made his debut as a director in Zameen starring Ajay Devgn, however his major breakthrough was with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited starring Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi. Golmaal was a huge success and ever since Rohit has delivered hits like Sunday, Golmaal Returns, All The Best: Fun Begins and Golmaal 3. In 2011 Rohit tried a different genre and directed Singham, a story revolving around Goa police and politicians. The movie was a blockbuster and did very well commercially. As of 2013, Rohit Shetty is working on Chennai Express starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
