Ranveer Singh

    Ranveer Singh was born on July 6, 1985, in Mumbai, India. Born as born as Ranveer Singh Bhavnani, he is popularly known as just Ranveer Singh. Coming from a Bollywood related family, his second cousins are actress Sonam Kapoor and producer Rhea Kapoor.

    Ranveer Singh had always wanted to be an actor. During the course of his education he felt that the idea of acting was far-fetched and was too un-real to be true so he instead focused on creative writing. While pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University his love for acting resurfaced and Ranveer Singh started to focus on his acting skills. After completing his education he came back to India and started auditioning for lead roles in the Hindi film industry.

    It was in 2010 that Ranveer Singh bagged the lead role in the Yash Raj Films latest project called Band Baaja Baaraat, and got selected. The director of the film, Maneesh Sharma, sent him to the Delhi University campus during the shooting of the film, and from there Singh drew his inspiration for the character. After its release, Band Baaja Baaraat became a critical and commercial success. He went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut award at the 56th Filmfare Awards. After the successes of Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer Singh continued experimenting with new roles like in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and signed a number of films with varied directors.

    As of 2013, Ranveer Singh has acted in 5 films, including Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. Singh has won 6 awards up till 2013. His upcoming film, Kill Dil is said to be releasing in 2014.
