Rani Mukerji, born Rani Mukherjee on 21 March 1978 is known for her special voice in Bollywood. Rani Mukerji made her debut as an actress with a cameo appearance in the Bengali film Biyer Phool in 1996. She made her debut as a Bollywood actress the same year with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, and has ever since appeared in over 48 Bollywood movies.
Rani Mukerji’s major breakthrough was with Karan Johar’s blockbuster romance Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, for which she won her first Filmfare Award as Best Supporting Actress. She also won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her movie Saathiya. Rani Mukerji received unanimous praise for her portrayal of a blind, deaf and mute woman in Black in 2005, and for this exceptional performance she was awarded two more Filmfare Awards: Best Actress and Actress – Critics. Apart from her career in Bollywood, Rani Mukerji made her television debut as a talent judge with the reality show Dance Premier League
As of 2013, Rani Mukerji has won over 40 awards of which 7 awards were from Filmfare. She has also been nominated over 50 times. Rani has also occupied the top slot of Box Office India’s Top Actresses list for two years in a row, 2005 and 2006. She was also the only Bollywood celebrity to have been invited to the dinner in Honour of President Musharraf.
The actress has always remained mum about her personal life and has always limited her interactions with the media for which she is often termed as a recluse. Even though Rani Mukerji has always kept her personal life very well guarded the rumours always hinted that Rani is allegedly involved in a relationship with filmmaker Aditya Chopra.
