Ram Gopal Varma

Ram Gopal Varma was born on 7 April 1962. He made his debut as a director with Siva in Tollywood in 1989 and with Shiva in Bollywood in 1990

Ram Gopal Verma often known as RGV started his career as a site engineer. He left his job and started his own video rental library through which he made his contacts in Tollywood. His first movie Siva starring Nagarjuna revolved around student politics. The movie was a blockbuster and critical success and turned RGV into a star overnight. His movies in Bollywood include the remake of Siva, Drohi, Rangeela and Daud. He later ventured production and co produced Dil Se.. which won two National Awards and six Filmfare awards. RGV is popular for his gangster trilogy of Satya, Company and D which were major blockbusters. These movies covered the brutality of the Mumbai underworld and how they came up to rule.

Ram Gopal Varma penned down his life story in his autobiography, Na Ishtam.
