Rajinikanth was born on 12 December 1950 in Bangalore, Karnataka. He has appeared in over 170 movies across various languages: Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, English and Bengali. He also happens to be a producer and screenwriter.
He made his debut as an actor in 1975 with the Tamil movie Apoorva Raagangal. His most recent releases are Sivaji, Enthiran and Ra. One. He was reportedly paid 26 crore for his character in Sivaji which made him the highest paid actor in Asia. He has won four Filmfare awards for Best Actor and two as Best Supporting Actor. Rajnikanth was honoured with Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award in 2000.
Rajnikanth is married to Latha Rangachari and has two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya.
