Race 2

Race 2 hit the screens with huge hype behind it due to its prequel’s splendid success. It received mixed responses from critics and fans where lot of them did not felt it as good as the 1st installment, but nonetheless Race-2 opened with mammoth collections and grossed 105 crores including international market and was declared a super-hit.

Special-26

Special-26 was released with minimal expectations after Akshay Kumar faced debacle in the form of “Joker”. The movie was directed by neeraj Pandey who delivered an off beat movie like “A Wednesday” in the past. Even the promos of the movie suggested that movie is not a routine ‘masala’ flick and as a result Special 26 opened with normal collections, but it picked up after good reviews and mouth of word. It then went on to gross over 70 crores and became a super-hit.

ABCD

ABCD was pleasant surprise in the B-town, it broke the stereotype of dance concentric movies not working in Bollywood and became an instant hit. It opened to relatively less crowds, but then it picked up later after excellent response from the audience, critics and grossed 45 crores. Considering its low budget in the making the movie can be termed as Blockbuster.

Matru Ki Bijili Ka Mandola

Starring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapoor in the lead roles, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, MKBKM was an experimental fare for Vishal Bharadwaj who normally directs intense emotional dramas. But however movie opened with good collections after its good music, exciting promos and then it received decent response from the crowd and went on to collect 39 crores becoming a super-hit.

Kai Po Che

Kai Po che was a movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s famous novel “Three Mistakes of My Life”. The initial promos of the movie were very appealing and upon the release it was praised by lot of critics and celebrities which gave Kai Po che very good start. It’s collections were very sturdy for the 1st 3 weeks in multiplexes as a result it grossed over 45 crores despite of new star cast leaving every one shell shocked.

The only movie that could manage to join the 100 crore club is Race -2 but in terms of profits generated Race-2 did not do much justice to the distributors. Other movies that made some good money are Akshay Kumar’s “Special 26” which managed to collect around 70 crores but not much profits, Remo De Souza’s dance flick “ABCD” grossed 40 crores which is a great achievement, “Kai po Che” which had new comers all over it did a business of 50 crore.

On the flipside, movies like “Murder-3″, “Jolly LLB”, “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns” could generate positives response from the audiences and critics but did average business without even crossing 20 crore mark. Movies like “Zila Ghaziabad”, “Vishwaroop” have bombed at the box-office and gave tears to the distributors.

However, quarter 2 looks pretty good for the Bollywood considering the high profile movies that are releasing with “Himmatwala” being the 1st movie which is all set to release on 29th of march and movies like “Ek Thi Daayan”, “Shootout at Wadala”, “Ganchakkar”, “Zanjeer”, “Jeh jawani Hai Deewani”, “Yamla Pagla Deewana -2″ are lined up for the release.

Be Intehaan is a very pleasant Bollywood romantic song from Race 2, featuring the passionate and intense vocals of Atif Aslam with support by Sunidhi Chauhan. Mayur Puri’s soulful lyrics perfectly matches the mellifluous music. Pritam scores yet again, with some nice guitar strumming used throughout the song. The beats are light and the mush-factor is high. A perfect romantic track which is to be played in repeat mode.

Teri Jhuki Nazar – Murder 3

Shafqat Amanat Ali proves yet again why he is one of the most sought after singers from Pakistan. Teri Jhuki Nazar makes your heart skip a beat, all thanks to the romantic flavor of the track. A very soft number with superb soft stringed guitar strummings and lofty drum kicks. Sayeed Quadri’s extremely amiable lyrics is a hit. Pritam has again proved his flashy skills. Mesmerizing!

Khamakha – Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola

‘Khamakha’ is an all-out romantic track that sweeps the die-hard romantics right off their feet. Its a mushy romantic ballad rendered by Vishal Bhardwaj. He is supported well by Gulzar’s beautiful lyrics, while Prem Dehati infuses a folk touch to the number, behind the mike. A very soulful number which is pure musical delight to hear.

Tu Hi Tu – Nautanki Saala

Tu Hi Tu is a gem of a number, highly intense and passionate, sung by the versatile singer Ayushman Khurrana himself. The song has a dreamy feel to it, with mind blowing lyrics by Kausar Munir. Composed by Mikey McCleary, this one has to be a chart buster of 2013. LOVE it!

Yaaram-Ek Thi Daayan

Yaaram is the first song of Ek Thi Daayan, crooned beautifully by Sunidhi Chauhan. The films lead actress, Kalki is seen strumming the guitar and crooning all the things she would do for her someone special. Gulzar’s wonderful words are very light on the ears and poetic. Soothing yet dark and premonitory, Yaaram is a NOT TO BE MISSED number.

A source said: “It makes sense as well. Ending of Race 2 has been left open ended. Since John’s character hasn’t been done away with entirely, unlike Akshaye Khanna who was bumped off in Race, it is clear that he would be back for revenge. However, it has to be seen whether he returns in Race 3 or Race 4.”

Though the story of the first two parts wasn’t similar at all, the makers of the film are not revealing anything about the plot they have in mind for the next part.

Ramesh Taurani, producer of the film said: “I want a 10-day holiday now. It has been a two year long journey to put together RACE 2. But yes, RACE 3 is definitely on. With the sequel doing so well at the box office, it deserves more installments. We have these as a part of our immediate plans.”

Saif Ali Khan too doesn’t mind starring in the next part as it’s adding to his list of hit films and also he’s making big bucks.

Saif said: “We are pretty much confirmed to go ahead with Race 3. I think if the film continues to run so very well, there is no reason why we shouldn’t extend the story any further. The script will have to be much stronger though.”

Saif Ali Khan said: “Yes, the opening is indeed quite good. The numbers are heartening as well. However these are weekend collections and pretty much on the expected lines. The film has to continue doing well. As for partying then well, we are all grown up enough to not start celebrating in a ridiculous way, as yet. May be I will have a sip of champagne with my producers for now. Parties would happen in a while though.”

Saif who was last seen in Cocktail, said then that he prefers doing action thrillers over Rom Com. Well, this has to be a superb return for Saif to this genre.

“It’s not only a good return, it is a successful outing as well. Race is like a world that I do enjoy and I am happy that it is also popular in India. It is a nice feeling to do a romcom as well an action movie.” added the actor.

Meanwhile the way Race 2 has opened, it has also managed to erase the disappointment of Agent Vinod which was again set in an action mode.

“Well, this is life. There are some parts in RACE 2 which could have been in Agent Vinod. But then that’s fine. It is best to put yourself in the director’s hands and allow him to do the rest. I am glad that Abbas-Mustan has made a slick movie while TIPS has done quite well in giving the film it’s much required production values. The end result has worked and that’s what that matters,” said the actor.

The Story

Race 2 is the story of two men Ranvir Singh (Saif Ali) and Armaan Malik (John Abraham) on opposite sides of a dispute and trying to get the better of each other. Along the way they flaunt their perfectly chiseled bodies, shake a leg to pretty good music and perform unbelievable stunts.

Ranvir is traveling through Turkey, looking for the Indian mafioso who is responsible for the death of his lover and partner in crime. As he runs from one gorgeous location in Istanbul to another, he beats up bad guys amid high octane action scenes which involve a lot of exploding cars. On his arm is Jacqueline Fernandez who wears really great outfits and plays her role of looking good very well. Armaan wants Ranvir dead and holds him responsible for his father’s death. On his side is his Elena (Deepika Padukone) who looks so gorgeous that you spend the first half just admiring her perfectness as there really isn’t much happening with the story. Anil Kapoor adds a bit of fun to the proceedings as ex-cop Robert D’Costa who spouts one liners every time he sees his assistant, Cherry (Ameesha Patel).

The second half begins on predictable lines when we were suddenly jerked up to paying attention. The plot has moved to the characters trying to steal the Shroud of Turin and that is when we finally get proof that the script was never really important to the directors. No amount of Deepika gorgeousness can save this movie from becoming the predictable bore that it is. There are some funny scenes but they are too few and too far apart to have any impact.

This writer remembers watching Race five years ago when it released and actually had some fun as there were enough funny moments and a semblance of a plot to keep the movie ticking. We’d love it if Race 2 was a sequel which we could sing high praise about, but sadly it isn’t. Revenge, one character says, is a dish best served cold. We honestly wish this dish hadn’t been served at all.

Mujh Mein Tu- Special 26

Mujh Mein Tu starts off with the guitar and is a very spirited and idealistic sort of love song, which explores what place that special person holds in one’s heart.

Inkaar- Inkaar

The theme song of Inkaar is beautiful. It has the sound of violin trying to charm your ear buds. The music is backed by Monali Thakur’s seductive voice, which mixes well with the sound.

Party On My Mind- Race 2

Party on my mind and it features the entire cast of the film. Deepika Padukone sets the temperature soaring and looks like a beautiful dream. Over all the it’s a good and peppy number. The listener gets down to jumping from the minute the track starts to play.

Bezubaan- Anybody Can Dance

Bezubaan is a peppy number from Anybody Can Dance. The track is very good and is mainly a winner because of the dance sequences that take place while the song is going on.

Lat Lag Gaye

Lat lag gayee is from Race 2. crooned by Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade. The lyrics are catchy and make you put it on loop. The melody is really addictive and can bring the listener from the couch to the dance floor easily.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s club number Lat Lag Gaye from her upcoming film Race 2 is making waves and the actress is getting a lot of compliments for her seductive moves.J

While Jacqueline received praises for her look and moves in the song, it went on to become such a huge rage that the actress has been approached by several sponsors for shows and has locked in on 6 stage shows across the country courtesy the song Lat Lag Gaye from her forthcoming film that released today.

Director duo, Abbas-Mustan were showering praises on the Sri Lankan beauty. They said: “Jacqueline has done a fantastic job on the song. When we approached her with the song we promised it would be her ‘Touch Me Touch Me’…it’s an out and out party number with a sensual touch and Jacqueline was the ideal choice. She is also very fashion savvy so all credit goes to her for the styling in the song.”

A source said: “Jacqueline has killed it with Lat Lag Gaye. Not only does she look fabulous but has performed to the song like a pro despite not having any professional training. She had already created buzz with the song Apni Toh from Housefull, with Lat Lag Gaye she has taken her popularity to an all new high.”

Jacqueline too was overwhelmed by the response she received. She said: “I enjoyed doing the number. I can’t compare it to any other songs so far but I am confident it will also be on the top. I loved working with Abbas-Mastan on the film and on the song particularly. They have so much drama in their films and for an actor it’s great to work under them as they never create any tension and make you feel comfortable to give it your best.”

Jacqueline will next be seen in Race 2, where she’ll set the screen on fire with her high octane action sequences!

Race 2

Directed by Abbas-Mustan, Race 2 is the first major release of the year. It is the sequel to the 2008 hit film, Race, and stars an ensemble cast that includes Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel. Race 2 is scheduled to release on 25th January 2013.

Jolly LLB

The film features Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao and Boman Irani in lead roles. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, The film is a social satire on the law system of India.

Shootout At Wadala

It is the prequel to 2007 Bollywood film Shootout at Lokhandwala based on the book Dongri to Dubai written by Hussain Zaidi’s. The film features an ensemble cast that includes John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood. The film will dramatise the first-ever registered encounter by Mumbai police, where gangster Manya Surve was shot dead, which took place at the junction next to Dr.Ambedkar college, Wadala, Mumbai on 1 November 1982. The movie will hit theaters in May.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is based on former Indian athlete Milkha Singh. The story talks about his perseverance as an athlete and also as a courageous human spirit. the movie will release on July 12, 2013.

David

The plot revolves around the lives of three different men named David, who are about to take a step which is going to change their lives forever. Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the movie stars Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Vinay Virmani in the titular roles, alongside Tabu, Lara Dutta and Isha Sharvani.

Amisha said, “Yes, I’m planning to have a private show for my friends and people whom I’m close to. Though my role is small, I really enjoyed doing every bit of it and I’m proud to be part of it. All the actors have done a wonderful job.”

She adds, “Working with such beautiful actresses like Deepika (Padukone) and Jacqueline (Fernandez) only encouraged me more to look as beautiful as they are and work even harder on her character.”

This is not it. Amisha next film titled ‘Shortcut Romeo’ opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh is also ready for an April release.

The actress who took a break from filming Bhaiyyaji Superhit with Sunny Deol, will resume the second schedule in March. She is also eagerly looking forward to start work on her home production Desi Magic.
Add the sources, “Amisha and her business partner Kuunal Goomer are going the Karan Johar way and are going to launch two fresh faces for their home production Desi Magic opposite Amisha.”

Amisha maintains, “We can’t answer this yet but yes the film is very fresh, youthful and an out-and-out entertainer. It will cater to family and today’s youth audiences as well. Yes, may be we may lock on some fresh faces but nothing has been confirmed as yet.”
