Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola
Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola is an upcoming dark comedy film starring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma, Pankaj Kapoor and Shabana Azmi. The movie is not only directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, but he also co-produced, co-scripted and scored the music for the film. The film is entirely shot in Haryana. The story of the film revolves around Harry Mandola a wealthy industrialist who loves drinking and being high all the time and his daughter Bijlee. Bijlee is a rich, notorious girl who loves playing pranks on people. Harry and Bijlee share a great relationship with Matru, a graduate from Delhi university who doesn’t get a job after graduation and comes back to his village to take up his family profession of working for the Mandola family. Also, he loves Bijlee. Bijlee later goes to Oxford University to study and falls in love with Baadal , the son of a powerful politician, Chaudhari Devi , and much to her father’s delight, Bijlee is all set to marry Baadal. This alliance which is far from being a simple union of two young people becomes the seed for a story that brings twists and turns in the lives of Matru, Bijlee and Mandola.
The character of Matru is played by Imran Khan, Bijlee by Anushka Sharma and Mandola by Pankaj Kapoor. Before Imran was roped in for the film,Vishal was keen on casting Ajay Devgn, who decided to walk out of the film, reason being a great amount of money offered to him him for Ashwini Dhir’s project. Later, Shahid Kapoor was approached and he also turned down the offer. Imran was then approached and they zeroed in on him. When the trailer of the film was launched, the movie managed to create quite a buzz because of Anushka Sharma’s bold scenes and a pink buffalo. The censor board gave the film a U/A certificate. The movie will release on January 11.
