Katrina Kaif
Katrina Kaif was born on 16 July 1984 in Hong Kong. Born Katrina Turquotte, to a Kashmiri Indian father, Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Susanna Turquotte Katrina is a British citizen.
Katina Kaif began her modelling career at a very early age and her first assignment was for a jewellery campaign. She continued modelling in London with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week. Her modelling work was discovery by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom in 2003 after which she moved to Mumbai.
In 2005, Katrina Kaif made an appearence in Sarkar, as Abhishek Bachchan’s girlfriend. Her major breakthrough was David Dhawan’s Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, where she was paired opposite Salman Khan. She was later paired opposite Akshay Kumar for the first time in Humko Deewana Kar Gaye. The movie flopped at the box office but Katrina got positive response from the critics. In 2007, Katrina appeared in four films, Namastey London, Apne, Partner and Welcome. All of them were successful at the box office. In 2008 Katrina acted in an action-thriller movie Race and was later seen in an action comedy Singh Is Kinng, which was declared a blockbuster, making this her sixth consecutive success at the box office. After a string of hits, Katrina’s next movie Yuvvraaj failed miserably at the box office.
2009 saw Katrina in a new light where she featured in a terrorism drama, New York. The movie was a critical and commercial success in both India and overseas. She then went on to play the role of a submissive innocent girl who falls in love with the wrong guy in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. She was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor for the first time and the critics praised their fresh chemistry. Her next movie opposite Ranbir was the blockbuster political thriller Raajneeti. In 2011, she was seen alongside Hrithik Roshan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and in Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Her first release of 2012, Ek Tha Tiger broke many records and was a huge commercial successes and her second release of 2012 was Yash Chopra’s romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan, alongside Shahrukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.
Katrina always is very guarded about her personal relationships. She did accept that she was once in a serious relationship with actor Salman Khan but has never confirmed other alleged relationships.
