The success bash of ‘Shootout at Wadala’ was a star studded affair, held at the 212 Lounge in Mumbai, on Tuesday evening. Celebs including John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Anil Kapoor, and Sophie Chaudhary sparkled the event with their presence.

The film is in it’s second week and continues to rule the box office with a cash collection of Rs 53.94 crore till Monday.

Tusshar Kapoor wrote on Twitter after attending the Shootout at Wadala success bash: “Just got back from the SAW bash, full on paisa vasool just like the film! Cheers to another steady week at the box office! Ala re Ala success party Ala!”

Bollywood actors Kangna Ranaut and Imran Khan on Thursday evening felicitated women who have made a mark in films and television under the aegis of WIFT (Women in films and television).

While Kangna felicitated actor Dolly Ahluwalia, who has won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Vicky donor, Imran Khan felicitated Assamese filmmaker Manju Bora for her film “Ko:Yad” which got the National Award for Best Mising Film.

Jackie Shroff felicitated Ritu Thomas for her film “Timbucktoo” (in English) for Best Environment Film including Agriculture .

Actors tannishta Chatterjee Usha Jadhav and Priya Goswami were also felicitated at the event.

Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao, said her husband would also fully cooperate with the endeavors of this organisation.

Talking about her childhood memories, the actress said she doesn’t remember her mom’s lullabies, but her strictness.

Sharing a childhood moment, Kangna said: “I was beaten up with a broom in my childhood. There is nothing memorable than that. All mothers sing lullaby for their children and feed them with good food.”

“My mother was a Sanskrit teacher and all the students in the school were scared of her,” added the actress, who was recently seen opposite John Abraham in Sanjay Gupta’s “Shootout At Wadala”.

But at the same time, Kangna says her mom trained her so well that if she has to quit acting, she has an alternative.

“My mother had trained me in everything, except for acting. I know how to wash dishes and cook food. I was told that you will let down the family after marriage,” she told reporters at Thank You Mom event organised by PandG on the occasion of Mother’s Day falling coming Sunday.

“So just in case it doesn’t work out here, I am set,” she added.

The 26-year-old National Award winning actress, who made her Bollywood debut in 2006 with “Gangster – A Love Story”, hails from a Rajput family in Himachal Pradesh.

Kangna will soon be seen in “I Love New Year” opposite Sunny Deol.

Actress Shraddha Kapoor and filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor were also present at the event along with their mothers.

She began her career by playing a criminal’s girlfriend in “Gangster – A Love story”, which was a box office success. Hit Underworld crime thriller “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” saw her repeating the same kind of character.

Now she is seen as Vidya, gangster Manya Surve’s girlfriend in Sanjay Gupta-directed crime thriller “Shootout at Wadala” (SAW).

Very few know that Kangana’s role was especially chalked out in the film as Gupta learned of the character’s existence through his interaction with a police official.

“Kangana is the tender soul of a very dangerous and violent world depicted in SAW. And its amazing how she has portrayed the character of Vidya minus any star trappings. She completely surrendered to the role and made it all her own,” Gupta said in a statement.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh too praised Kangna saying: “Kangana delivers a wonderful performance (especially towards the final moments) and stands her own despite the presence of actors with challenging characters.”

The 26-year-old will be next seen playing a gangster in “Revolver Rani”, a mujrawali in “Rajjo”, and a suburban Delhi woman who sets out on a honeymoon all by herself in “Queen”.

She is also working alongside Hrithik Roshan in “Krrish 3″ and Emraan Hashmi in “Ungli”.

Unfazed by the success, Kangna said: “I’m an actor. I get assignments, I do my work and I stay totally detached from my movies. It’s good if a film does well but that’s not going to change my attitude or commitment to my work.”

Story :

Shootout At Wadaala is based upon true incidents that happened in Mumbai in 1970′s and 80′s between Bombay underworld and police. Manohar Arjun Surve aka Manya Surve (John Abraham) is a son of a gangster, Manya does not want to follow his father’s footsteps, wants to pass his degree with good marks and earn a respectful job. But however when Manya is sentenced to jail after police accuse him of assisting his brother in murdering a gangster where Manya actually tries to save his brother. Gutted Manya Surve who is in jail becomes even more angrier after his brother is killed in jail and learns fighting skills from an inmate in order to become tougher. Manya eventually runs away from the jail with an inmate Sheikh Muneir(Tussar Kapoor) and starts a new gang against the likes of Zubair Imtiaz Haksar(Manoj Bajpayee) and Dilawar Imtiaz Haksar(Sonu Sood). Rest of the movie is about how does the Bombay police lead by ACP Ishaque Bagwan ends the gang wars by encountering the gangsters one by one.

Artist Performances :

John Abraham did a brilliant job as a good man who turns into dangerous gangster. John suited the character perfectly and he was exceptional with his dialogue delivery. Anil Kapoor did the role of a sincere police officer who wants to end Mumbai underworld and did his job perfectly, no complaints whatsoever. Manoj Baypayee had relatively less screen time but he was undoubtedly the best actor in the movie, he played role of a cruel,fearless and sarcastic gangster and did an outstanding job. Soonu sood and kangna Ranaut were decent and played their part well.

Technical Aspects :

Movie was completely shot in old Mumbai. Director has taken care of every single detail in the movie such that the locations pertain to 1970′s era. Camera work was done exceptionally well where every action sequence looked stylish. Music of the movie is a huge asset, songs are good and background score was very engaging. Overall movie is technically very well presented.

Analysis :

Movie starts off with John Abraham narrating his story to Anil Kapoor in a police van which is en route to hospital after John was shot badly by police. 1st half of the movie is very engaging and interesting where Manya slowly starts building his gang after Haskar brothers refuse to take into their gang. Meanwhile Anil Kapoor and his team keep on hunting some notorious gangsters. First half ends with good punch with audience very much involved in the movie. 2nd half starts off slowly but gathers pace gradually when Manya starts becoming a threat for police after couple of big profile killings. Latter part of 2nd half is dragged a bit with less interesting scenes. Then comes the climax of the movie which has the main shootout episode which was shot well without deviating from authenticity of real incident.

On whole Shoot At Wadala is the movie that was written well but there were some voids in the script at places. Major assets of the movie are its music, dialogues and actor’s performances. Every character in the movie is very well defined and enacted by the actors such that viewers are always engaged to screen . Audience were relived in the middle with 3 item songs with hot women and catchy music . Shootout At Wadala has all the ingredients of a ‘paisa vasool’ flick and will do good business at the box-office, it can attract both multiplex and single screen audience.

Bottom-line : Intense acting, powerful dialogues, bloody gore and hot women combine to form a ‘paisa vasool’ flick !

At the fourth place in the list of Punjabi songs, we have Gal meethi meethi bol from the movie Aisha. It’s a very typical shaadi song and there cannot be a sangeet without this song. Lines we love are Aa soni tennu chand ki main chudi pehnawa, Mennu karde ishara to main doli le aawa.

3. Sadi Gali

At the third place we have Sadi Gali, another hit Punjabi number! From the movie Tanu Weds Manu this song was sung by Lehmber Hussainpuri. Fantastic lines? Rab ne husn ditta maan nai kari da, Aakkadan di agg vich ainwe nai sadee da, Kade pyaar wala meeh barsaya karo

2. Pani da

And the second prize goes to.. Ayushmann Khurrana. What can we say about Pani da? It’s so far the best song by a debut actor turned singer. Lines we love? Kothe utte beh ke akhiyaan milaunde, Na jaana hume tu kabhi chhod, Tere utte marda, pyaar tenu karda, Milega tujhe na koi aur
