Jeetendra’s first involvement with Bollywood came while his family was supplying jewellery for V.Shataram’s movie “Navrang” where he was casted as Sandhya’s double.

Jeetendra’s first major breakthrough as solo hero came through the movie ‘Geet Gaya Patharon Ne’ in 1964. He then started getting tons of offers, but he was always choosy about the scripts, as a result he delivered super hits like Farz, Suhaag Raat, Parivaar, etc. His popularity was at peaks in early 70’s where he acted in movies like Caravan and Humjoli, he was known for his stylish dances in those movies and was called “Jumping Jack” by the fans.

He in mid-1970’s Jeetendra started acting in lot of remakes from south, especially from Telugu film industry. The strategy worked out perfectly for Jeetendra, he delivered lot of blockbusters like Justice Chaudhry (1982), Mawaali (1983), Himmatwala(1983), Jaani Dushman, and Tohfa (1984).

Jeetendra was always considered as the family man, where he use to act in the movies that were pretty much melodramatic and sentimental. He earned lot of female fans for him after Rajesh Khanna in that era.
He was only next to Rajesh Khanna in terms of movies that ran for over 50 weeks which was known as Golden Jubilee.

Jeetu ji also shared an amazing combination with music director Bappi Lahari. Both of them are known for their record of delivering 12 consecutive audio albums that crossed silver jubilee in sales.He paired up with almost every top heroine in those days, his on screen chemistry with Jiyaprada was very famous, they acted in 25 films together.

Late 1980’s is where Jeetendra faced lot of debacles as he ran out of good offers. He also could not find an ideal remake as Telugu film industry moved on from making flicks which were suitable to Jeetu Ji after action heroes like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, etc made their mark.

Jeetu ji then started appearing in some supporting roles in early 90’s and then moved away from the acting career and started concentrating on his own production company Balaji Tele films. He produced lot of TV serials in Hindi and Tamil and made some handful amount of Bollywood pictures.

Jeetendra’s 40 year journey in the film industry can be scripted as a legendary one. He is definitely one of the pioneers of Bollywood cinema. Hope he continues delivering brilliant movies through his production house and entertain all of us.
