Recently director Apoorva Lakhia confirmed saying, “Although it would be an honour for any filmmaker to have India’s most iconic actor in his film, Amitji won’t be playing a role in Zanjeer. That would put an extra pressure on Ramcharan Teja, who plays the angry cop that Amitji had played in the original Zanjeer.”

“The original Zanjeer was a turning point in not just Amitji’s life and career, but several others. I’d have loved to have him in Zanjeer. And he’d have somehow accommodated my ardent wish. However, it’d be unfair to put Amitji in an uncomfortable situation by asking him to do this for me.“Director added.

After hearing this Amitabh Bachchan tweeted saying that he is already flattered that his movie is being remade.

The new Zanjeer has RamCharan Tej and Priyanka Chopra playing the lead roles. Earlier it was played by Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.

Deepak Sawant’s Bhojpuri film Ganga Devi and Shoojit Sircar’s Garden House will be releasing on June 3, next year. While Ganga Devi’s release date has been pushed back to next year, Garden House’s shooting will begin sometime soon and will release along side the former.

Sawant said, “I’ve been with Bachchansaab for the last forty years. To me he and Jayaji are like Ram and Sita. I am their Hanuman. The Hindi version of Ganga Devi is completely ready. All the dubbing by Bachchan Saab and Jayaji and all other artistes is done. But we’re going to release the Hindi version next year close to their 40th wedding anniversary.”/em>

However, the Bhojpuri version of Sawant’s film will hit theaters on September 14, this year.
