The actor has been watching a lot of Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff films like Mashaal and Ram Lakhan to get under the skin of his character and to understand the old-school mannerisms and styling of characters that belong to that era.

Says Imran Khan, “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again is a period film..So the characters had to fit in correctly…I watched a lot of films from the 80’s,including the ones with Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff in them to understand how things were back then”.

Balaji Motion Pictures’ Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again starring Akshay Kumar,Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha is scheduled to release August 8^th2013.

Co-produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2″ is a sequel to the 2010 movie “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” and also stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre in lead roles.

“We have been shooting 12-hour shifts every day, all month, without a single off. As a result, I have had to bring my trainer on the set to work out in between shots. We have also built a space for dance rehearsals,” Imran said in a statement.

Imran is also shooting for “Gori Tere Pyaar Mein”.

“I don’t believe in women-centric films, but I certainly believe that we should create films that have more challenging roles for women and I definitely will have that in all my films,” she told reporters here at an awards function here Thursday organised by Women In Film and Television (WIFT).

“I would like to present women in all their diversity and colour. I think that’s what we should do best because filmmaking is ultimately storytelling and I believe that to tell a story you need talent that women bring on the screen. “I certainly will have more interesting women characters in my film,” she added.

Talking about her next project, she said, “I have started writing. It’s a long process for me since I am unable to write a script faster. Though I have started, but I will make it only if something good turns out.”

Actors Imran Khan, Jackie Shroff and Kabir Bedi were also present at the function and felicitated the winners.

Bollywood filmmaker Kiran Rao at an event organised by by Women In Film and Television in Mumbai. Kiran, who made her directorial debut with “Dhobi Ghat” in 2011, says she prefers creating “challenging roles for women in films” over women-oriented movies.

Bollywood actors Kangna Ranaut and Imran Khan on Thursday evening felicitated women who have made a mark in films and television under the aegis of WIFT (Women in films and television).

While Kangna felicitated actor Dolly Ahluwalia, who has won the National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Vicky donor, Imran Khan felicitated Assamese filmmaker Manju Bora for her film “Ko:Yad” which got the National Award for Best Mising Film.

Jackie Shroff felicitated Ritu Thomas for her film “Timbucktoo” (in English) for Best Environment Film including Agriculture .

Actors tannishta Chatterjee Usha Jadhav and Priya Goswami were also felicitated at the event.

Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao, said her husband would also fully cooperate with the endeavors of this organisation.

The song, titled “Apna Bombay talkies”, has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

Others who will feature in the song are Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

Around 20 singers have also come together to lend their voices for the actors, said a source.

“For the first time, 20 singers will be part of the same song. The title track has been sung by some of the most reputed singers in the industry. And the interesting part about this is that the singers have recorded for those actors whom they generally do the playback singing for in their movies,” the source added.

Some prominent singers, who have sung the track, are Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, S.P. Balasubramaniam, Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Mohit Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Sudesh Bhonsle, Shreya Ghosal, Shilpa Rao, Udit Narayan, KK and Sukhwinder Singh.

The source said: “Vaibhavi has beautifully choreographed this number. There was a strict dress code for all the actors. All the men had to wear black tuxedos and the women wore gold outfits, designed by their own stylists. The song took over a month to be shot entirely as all the actors have independently shot for their parts.”

“Bombay Talkies” is an amalgamation of four short films by four filmmakers – Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibaker Banerjee and Karan Johar. The movie releases May 3 and it will also be screened at Cannes film fest this year.

ABCD

ABCD was pleasant surprise in the B-town, it broke the stereotype of dance concentric movies not working in Bollywood and became an instant hit. It opened to relatively less crowds, but then it picked up later after excellent response from the audience, critics and grossed 45 crores. Considering its low budget in the making the movie can be termed as Blockbuster.

Matru Ki Bijili Ka Mandola

Starring Imran Khan, Anushka Sharma and Pankaj Kapoor in the lead roles, directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, MKBKM was an experimental fare for Vishal Bharadwaj who normally directs intense emotional dramas. But however movie opened with good collections after its good music, exciting promos and then it received decent response from the crowd and went on to collect 39 crores becoming a super-hit.

Kai Po Che

Kai Po che was a movie based on Chetan Bhagat’s famous novel “Three Mistakes of My Life”. The initial promos of the movie were very appealing and upon the release it was praised by lot of critics and celebrities which gave Kai Po che very good start. It’s collections were very sturdy for the 1st 3 weeks in multiplexes as a result it grossed over 45 crores despite of new star cast leaving every one shell shocked.
