First lets see Nautanki Saala’s performance. The movie started slow on friday.  But due to good word of mouth, it picked up in the next two days with good collections. Being a comedy film, it performed well in multiplexes. On other hand Commando – A One Man Army maintained constant audience throughout 3 days. This being a action film, it attracted audience in single screens.

Both collected decently, while Nautanki Saala collected 12 Cr, Commando – A one man army collected 11 Cr. Both are profitable ventures considering they were not big budgeted flicks. Both the actors of this film, Ayushman Khurrana and Vidyut Jamwal have proved once again that they are bankable heros.

On the past releases, Himmatwala seems to have stagnated at 45 Cr limit. Chashme Baddoor seems to go on strongly. After its two weeks at Box office, It has collected around 35 Crs. Bollywood will see next big release movie next week in “Ek thi Daayan”. The movie has Emraan hashmi in the lead and surrounding to it is an interesting plot.This will surely set fire to Bollywood box office.

“I have seen a lot of failure with my father. My father (Sajid Kamran Khan) was a very big filmmaker in the 1950s and 1960s. He used to make those black and white Dara Singh films. They were good films, but he never got the respect,” Sajid told IANS in a group interview. That time he didn’t work with Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar he used to work with Dara Singh. Although he (Dara Singh) was a big star, he was known as a B-grade stunt star. But the films were successful with the audience. But then my father saw failure and at that time I saw people who were with him suddenly disappeared,” he said.

Talking about the family’s struggle at that time, the actor-director said losses were big “We had four flats and we sold everything. We didn’t even have a phone. So, I am not scared of success or failure. I don’t get carried away with success. Your identity can’t be success or failure. You are your own identity. I had even said that in the future my film can flop, but not me,” said the 41-year-old.

“The fear of failure should be there. But it should not guide you. When you get scared of failure, you start taking other people’s advice very seriously… feel that there is no greater thing than destiny,” he said

After successfully hosting TV show “Sajid’s Superstars”, he started his career as a full-fledged director with blockbuster “Heyy Baby” and repeated the same success with “Housefull” and “Housefull 2″. Currently basking in the glory of “Himmatwala” success, he doesn’t approve of the person he used to be earlier.

“I used to make fun of other people’s films. I used to be stupid… But when I look back at that Sajid Khan, I want to tell him to keep quiet,” he said and added that he has learned a lot from his sister Farah Khan, a choreographer and filmmaker.

“I never interfered in her life. But I knew she would be an achiever. I learned a lot from her. I learned a lot in terms of how to evaluate your life. I was a crook. I used to lie and was almost in jail. But when work started coming, life became easier,” he said.

Once he entered the showbiz, Sajid knew he will make a film which will be successful. “I am a safe filmmaker. When I write a story, I feel that there are some points which bring in nostalgia. I don’t want to experiment. I am making films for the audience. My films have been super hits and I always knew that I will make a super hit film. I don’t think it is overconfidence,” he said.

Currently basking in the glory of “Himmatwala” success, Sajid doesn’t approve of the person he used to be earlier. The film features Southern actress Tamannaah and Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn in the lead roles.

Himmatwala (1983) Vs Himmatwala (2013)

Starting with recent release, Sajid Khan wanted to re-create Himmatwala of 1980′s which had Jeetendra and Sridevi in the lead roles. The old movie was a super hit due to sheer performances of the actors and the story suited to that era of audience. Sajid Khan did not do anything special apart from adding few gags in the movie and remade it. Due to bad performances and story being non- sense drama. Many of the audience felt the remake was terrible.

Don (1978) Vs Don (2006)

Farhan Akhtar remade the iconic Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don starring Shahrukh Khan. The movie was most stylish at that time and apart from iconic dialogues that remained everything was tweaked a little bit like the story was reworked,the situations were changed and with SRK’s performance, the remake won many hearts. It was this movie that everybody noticed that old movies could prove to be profitable ventures. Don eventually paved for its own sequel Don 2.

Agneepath (1990) Vs Agneepath (2012)

The old Agneepath was a terrible flop. Yash Johar who made this film could not believe and was never able to get over it. So for that reason after many years, his son Karan Johar remade it. The remake was very successful. The movie went on to become the first big hit of that year. The new project was handled by debutant Karan Malhotra and starred Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Sholay (1975) Vs  Aag (2006)

Sholay was one film when everyone was against the movie being remade. Many people were against because the director was Ram Gopal Varma. Ramu din’t disappoint anyone and gave what the audience , a very very bad remake. From worst acting to worst screenplay and being worse in every other department we could think.

Devdas (1955) Vs Devdas (2002) Vs Dev D (2008)

In the 2013 Himmatwala, Ravi essayed by Ajay Devgn, is a one man army against the villagers, in his battle for self respect. He is robbed of everything except his unshakable courage. Ravi fights for justice. The film is a perfect combination of emotion, action, comedy and romance. The filmmakers state that the characters too have resemblances to that of the original Himmatwala. The dashing Ajay Devgn is said to have fought with a real tiger in the latest version of the film. The mesmerizing music is by Sajid-Wajid and is sure to take you’re breath away.

Himmatwala’ is presented by UTV Motion Pictures and Pooja Entertainment, the film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Vashu Bhagnani.

Sajid says that “the film is a rewrite and not a remake”. He insists that the characters and scenes of his film are completely different. “The essence of the original Himmatwala is there in my version, but my treatment is completely different. The three most important aspects of the film, which are the opening act, the centre act and the finale, are completely different,” He said.

The film also stars Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar & Zarina Wahab. Sonakshi Sinha has a special appearance in an item song.

“Commercial films are a biggest challenge for an actor, especially for a heroine because there are limited number of scenes in which that person has to perform. When you are part of a commercial film, conviction is even harder…Different age groups relate to commercial films,” she said.

“The job of the actor is to perform better and to attract audience even in that short span of your screen presence. It becomes more challenging as there are fewer scenes for an actress in a commercial films. My next project is with Akshay Kumar and i also have few projects down south which i am working in,” she added.

“Himmatwala” movie stars Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah  Bhatia and is directed by Sajid Khan will hit the screens this Friday. It is a remake of 1980 hit movie “Himmatwala”.

The music of the film is given by Bappi Lahiri and Sajid-Wajid. The album has 5 songs in total. One of the song is composed by music composers Sachin-Jigar.

 Songs :

‘The album starts off with iconic song “Nainon Mein Sapna” recreated by Sajid-Wajid. The song is almost like the original one with very few changes.  Shreya Ghosal and Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar have this song. The song is good but it is no where close to the original.

The next song is “Taki Taki”, sung by vocal super houses Mika Singh and Shreya Ghosal. It is loud, cheesy and fun song. It starts off very similar to “chinta ta chita” from Rowdy Rathore.  But again it holds its owm tune. This song also is recreated one from the original. This song pays a better hostage to the original than the first song.

Dhoka Dhoka is a true 80s song, it is kind of 80s item numbers and who better to sing than Sunidhi Chauhan and Mamta Sharma who have given us iconic Munni and Sheila. The Bhappi Lahari’s late entry in the song is very nice.

“Bum Pe Laat” is a sweet kiddish song. Shaan vocals complement the song really well. The background chorus by kids gives the feel to the song. It has got light music arrangements and frothy rhythm.

“Thank God Its Friday” is 80s retro song. Sachin-Jigar who composed the song have given a fitting tribute to the musicians of that era. Sunidhi Chauhan is reliably fun and gives the song that extra edge.

Bottom line : Overall the album is good but if you are not a fan of retro music then this is certainly not for you.

Ajay Devgn feels no young actor can challenge their superiority and says “There is no success mantra as to why we all are still liked and doing well. I think when the audience accepts one actor it is for life, till you stop working. The kind of films that have worked well at the box office in the recent past you can’t cast boys in it.”

“Be it ‘Dabangg’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’,'Singham’… you can’t take a boy as it won’t to do justice to the film and the role. Like boys can do romance and all but eventually they grow to be men. The boys (young actors) are just beginning. Everything is about maturity and being a man.. Heroism is being a man,” Said Ajay Devgn to the media.

“We have to choose roles depending on the age. We can’t do college, romantic hero kind of a film today. No one will come to me with this kind of role and neither will I accept it. Meaty roles are for men and not for kids,” added Ajay.

Ajay Devgn made his debut through “phool Aur Khante” in 1991 and delivered so many blockbusters since then and recently revived the masala movie trend by making the movies like “Singham”, “Son of Sardar” and his latest movie “Himmatwala” is all set to release on 29th march 2013.

Says the actress, “I sign films that I enjoy watching as an audience and Himmatwala is one such movie and therefore I signed it after waiting for so long. While I was working down South, I got many offers but nothing interested me as an audience.”

The 23-year-old actor will soon be seen opposite Ajay Devgn in the remake of the 1980s hit flick, Himmatwala. She will be playing Sridevi’s part in the film.

On being compared to Sridevi, Tamanna says, “The movie made Sridevi an icon in that era and no one can recreate that magic. But my role too has substance and I have tried my level best to do justice to it. Also I am a huge fan of Srideviji so this role will be my tribute to her.”

Tamanna had an awesome time shooting with Ajay Devgn. Talking about her on screen romance with the 43-year-old, she says, “As actors when we are on a film set we play the character, irrespective of our age. That is how we are tuned to think so there is no age barrier. I was as comfortable doing a romantic scene as any other scene.”

Tamanna had one principle that she follows. “I don’t kiss on screen and nor will I ever don a bikini. I have followed it so far and continue to do so,” she shares.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old has bagged yet another Bollywood project, a comedy flick opposite Akshay Kumar.

She turned into a item girl for the movie “Himmatwala” with the song “Thank God its Friday”. And for this song , Sonakshi Sinha learnt the famous “Moonwalk” step of Legendary singer/dancer Micheal Jackson. Incidentally this step was shown by director Sajid Khan.

Our sources say “Sajid Khan, himself got on the dance floor to teach Sonakshi the ‘Moonwalk’. He saw that the way Sonakshi is doing the step was a little different than how it should be, So he went on the dance floor and he decided to have some fun on the dance floor and also teach Sonaksh. Actually Sajid himself is a great dancer and during his college days, he performed this Moonwalk step in lots of dance competitions.”

It seems that genes of her sister and star choreographer Farah Khan has rubbed on to Sajid khan. When we asked he said ” The song has a retro feel to it, that is why i decided to include the famous step of that era. Sonakshi is a fabulous dancer and she showed it in the song. I was barely of help”.
