English Vinglish throws light on the ever-forgiving and ever-appreciative nature of a mother and also sheds some insight on the strong will of a woman scorned. The story revolves around Shashi Godbole, a dedicated housewife and loving mother. She is often looked down on by her daughter for her poor command on the English language and is often criticised by her husband. Shashi’s older sister invites her to New York for her daughter marriage. Upon her arrival Shashi is embarrassed by her poor English and is determined to learn the language. She enrols herself in a four week course and there begins her journey.
