Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone was born 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, to Prakash Padukone, a former badminton player her mother, a travel agent. Deepika has a younger sister, Anisha Padukone.
Deepika started her career as a model while she was in college. She was spotted in a ramp competition in NLS, Bangalore. Over the years, she has modelled for Indian brands such as Liril, Dabur Lal powder, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca. Deepika was awarded as Female Model of the Year and Fresh Face of the Year by Idea Zee Fashion Awards. She was the brand ambassador of Levi Strauss and the international spokesperson for Maybelline.
Deepika Padukone made her debut as an actress with a Kannada movie, Aishwarya in 2006. Her Bollywood debut was in 2007 in Om Shanti Om opposite Shahrukh Khan. The movie was a blockbuster and Deepika was awarded her first Filmfare as Best Female Debut Award and was also nominated for the Best Actress. Her next movie was a romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno alongside Ranbir Kapoor and was a huge commercial success. She later played a double role again in Chandni Chowk To China in 2009 and later appeared in Love Aaj Kal opposite Saif Ali Khan which was one of the biggest hits of 2009.
Her first release of 2010 was Karthik Calling Karthik. The movie flopped at box office. Her performance in Yash Raj production’s, Lafangey Parindey, where she played the role of blind girl, determined on winning a skating competition was praised by the critics. Her next release was Break Ke Baad opposite Imran Khan was not a commercial success but won Deepika positive reviews. Her performance in Prakash Jha’s reservation melodrama, Aarakshan got rave reviews. In 2012, Deepika first appeared in Cocktail. Her performance earned her her third Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Later in 2012 she was seen in Race 2
As of 2013, she is shooting for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani opposite Ranbir Kapoor and for Ram Leela opposite Ranveer Singh.
Deepika dated Ranbir Kapoor for one year and later in 2009 ended the relationship. In 2010 she started dating Kingfisher head Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth Mallya and they broke up in 2012.
