Chitrangada Singh
Chitrangada Singh was born on 30 August 1976 to an army officer. She began her career as a model in Delhi before making it big in the film industry. Chitrangada always wanted to be a model and that’s why she started modelling as soon as she completed her education. She became very popular with ads like ICICI bank and Alukkas Jewellery, and gradually shifted to music videos with a performance in Gulzar’s “Sunset Point”. This music video was co-produced by Sudhir Mishra who decided to cast her in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. This was Chitrangada’s big break and with its release in 2003, Chitrangada established herself as an actress to watch out for. However, she decided to take a break from acting from 2005 to 2008 due to personal reasons. She returned to the silver screen in 2008 with Sorry Bhai, which performed poorly at the B.O because it released just a week after the terror attacks in Mumbai.
Her next major release and commercial success came in 2011, when she was cast opposite Akshay Kumar in Desi Boyz. The movie also starred John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. She also transformed into an item girl for Shirish Kunder’s Joker. Her item number ‘Kaafirana’ is considered as one of the best songs of 2012. Currently, Chitrangada Singh is busy promoting her film Inkaar, which deals with sexual harassment. The movie also stars Arjun Rampal and will release on January 18, 2013.
