Ali will now be seen in a romantic film “Aman Ki Aasha” opposite Yami Gautam.

The actor is currently enjoying the success of David Dhawan’s “Chashme Buddoor”, and he says he is busy touring the US with concerts.

“It is great to see the response of the crowd to ‘Chashme Buddoor’ songs at concerts,” he added.

First lets see Nautanki Saala’s performance. The movie started slow on friday.  But due to good word of mouth, it picked up in the next two days with good collections. Being a comedy film, it performed well in multiplexes. On other hand Commando – A One Man Army maintained constant audience throughout 3 days. This being a action film, it attracted audience in single screens.

Both collected decently, while Nautanki Saala collected 12 Cr, Commando – A one man army collected 11 Cr. Both are profitable ventures considering they were not big budgeted flicks. Both the actors of this film, Ayushman Khurrana and Vidyut Jamwal have proved once again that they are bankable heros.

On the past releases, Himmatwala seems to have stagnated at 45 Cr limit. Chashme Baddoor seems to go on strongly. After its two weeks at Box office, It has collected around 35 Crs. Bollywood will see next big release movie next week in “Ek thi Daayan”. The movie has Emraan hashmi in the lead and surrounding to it is an interesting plot.This will surely set fire to Bollywood box office.

When we asked this to the actor , he said “I am happy that I am a part of this film. People consider me as a serious actor and have never seen this side of mine. I remember, when my friends saw me first time in the trailers they sent me messages asking what am I doing in this film, It’s a good change.And David Dhawan is like my family and it was a great opportunity to work with him. I chose to do the film because it’s a fun film.”

When we asked about if he will shift base to Mumbai to focus on Bollywood movies. He said “ My job is in down south. I am a lead actor. In terms of lead actor opportunities, I don’t really get good ones here.Bollywood is not my priority. But I don’t rule out being part of the Hindi Film industry. If i get good roles then i will surely like to work in Bollywood but otherwise films in south have better roles for me. ”

Actor- Producer is thinking about directing a film as he came to the industry to become a director but came into movies as Mani Ratnam decided to cast his assistant director in the film Boys.

The movie collected 18 Cr in the first weekend collections. It had one of the highest opening weekend collections in this year. Though the occupancy rate in theaters was around 50% since it had a wide release, the numbers came in.     The actors performances, songs  and quirky dialogues are the highlights of this movie. Director David Dhawan is a happy man. Having faced ire of the public for his last two releases Do Knot Disturb and Rascals, made neccesary changes to the story of classic comedy film Chashme Buddoor.

Even though the critics response to this movie was bad, good word of mouth among the public ensured that this Ali Zafar,Divyendu Sharma,Sidharth and Taapsee Pannu starrer stay afloat. And also it had a single movie release.

Other small movie which was released last friday was Luke Kenny’s Rise of the Zombies. But due to a limited release and no word from the critics, this movie flopped badly.

On other news, Jolly LLB’s box office collections have surpassed 50Cr mark. Movie was made on a small budget of 14 Cr and it has collected 46 Cr from domestic market and 4 Cr from overseas. The movie make even more profits as the makers have been approached by several producers from south for a remake.

Story :

Chashme Baddoor is a remake of 1981 classic movie Chashme Buddoor. The basic story of the old film remains but David Dhawan has included a lot of extra scenes in this. The story of the film is about three friends Sid, Jai and Omi (Ali Zafar, Siddharth and Divyendu Sharma respectively).  While Omi and Jai are two womanizers, Sid is very shy and decent guy. Here enters Neha (Taapsee Pannu) and as usual Omi and Jai go behind her trying to woo her. She rejects both of them and coincidentally falls in love with Sid. Seeing this Omi and Jai vow to try to break them up. Rest of the story is how they break them up and what happens to the friendship of the trio.

Performances :

Performances wise the movie is good. The movie is highly eclipsed by Divyendhu Sharma and Sidharth. Divyendhu Sharma continues his powerful performance from “Pyaar ka Punchnama” , and is the backbone of the film and continues to crack up the audience with is sher-o-shayari. Sidharth introduces to a whole new part of him with hysterical antics. Ali Zafar is just okay. Taapsee makes a grand debut. She is very confident and plays the bubbly girl part very well. Veterans Rishi Kapooor, Lillete Dubey and Anupam Kher play their parts well . Anupam Kher does a double action in this movie. Rishi and Lillete play a romantic lovers who are in their 50′s.

Technical aspect : 

Story wise Chashme Baddoor is far cry from the original. Though the quirky dialogues and the shayari deserve special mention, but it doesn’t get the same support from the story of the movie. The movie is shot in a true David Dhawan fashion. The screenplay of the movie is also not that great. There are many loopholes in the script. Most of the times you are left wondering where the movie is going. The songs of the movie are good and enjoyable. They are shot really well too. First half is very enjoyable, Second half of the movie goes on very slow pace. In fact,  Rishi Kapoor and Lillete Dubey’s romantic track is the only thing that is good in second half. The ending of the movie seems like any other no brainer movie from David Dhawan’s film.

Analysis :

Chashme Baddoor starts off a breezy comedy but in the course of time. it goes off track and ruins the whole movie. The original was very simple and funny but David Dhawan manages to make it into a long, boring one with a bunch of silly gags thrown into it. The movie’s main highlight are Omi and Jai.  Divyendhu and Sidharth, pull off these roles effortlessly and to perfection. Rishi Kapoor and Lillete Dubey’s romantic track provides much needed relief to the boring second half. If we do not compare this movie to the original, then most of the movie is good but after some time in the movie, movie becomes too predictable and sadly thats the way it ends.

Bottomline : Watch the movie for Divyendhu’s Shayari and Sidharth’s hilarious antics.

Sajid and Wajid who have partnered with David Dhawan in their venture “Partner” gave some mind blowing music. Can they recreate it is the question. The answer is yes and they have shown with this album. The album has 5 songs.

Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota Hai is the first song in the album. It is sung by veteran Sonu Nigam. Its a fresh song and its has got catchy lyrics so you are bound to be singing it. The lyrics of the song seemed to be inspired by a popular ad jingle.

DHICHKYAAON DOOM DOOM is next in the song. It is picturised on Ali zafar and Taapsee. It reminds you of one of the teasing songs of 80′s. Sung by Shreya Ghosal and Ali Zafar himself, will make you love this track. The lyrics are also very good.

EARLY MORNING is the next track that follows. It is a simple track that has smooth vocals of Sonu Nigam. There are many instruments used in this song. It reminds you of Kishore Da’s songs with enough yoddling. Worth a listen definitely.

ISHQ MOHALLAH is sung by Mika Singh and Wajid. The songs is an Laxmikant-Pyarelal inspired composition. The quirky lyrics seem perfect for the song and make the song more likable.

The last song in the album is ’Andha Ghoda Race Mein Dauda’. It is sung by Neuman Pinto. It is fun situational song. Lyrics of the song should get a special mention.

Bottom line : Listen the album for the fun lyrics and to revisit simple music era of 80s.

The original, produced by Gul Anand and directed by Sai Paranjpye, revolved around three students living in Delhi – Siddharth (Farooque Sheikh), Omi (Rakesh Bedi) and Jai (Ravi Baswani) – and what happens when they meet Neha (Deepti Naval).

Dhawan said his film carries the same soul as the original, but with some obvious changes. “As far the story is concerned, it has the soul, but that film was made 30 years ago. It was very good that time and I have tried that it should be good even now. It is according to today’s youth,” he said.

While the original was made on a shoestring budget, the new “Chashme Baddoor” is said to be an expensive movie, and also stars Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Anupam Kher.

On the same day, “Rise Of The Zombie” co-directed by Devaki Singh and Luke Kenny, is coming out. Featuring Luke as well as Kirti Kulhari, Ashwin Mushran and Benjamin Gilani, the film revolves around Neil Parker, a passionate wildlife photographer who pays more attention to his wildlife than his human life.

As a result, his relationships with the real world suffers. When his girlfriend walks out on him, he resigns himself to isolation and nature. The story follows his journey into a darkness that has to be seen to be believed.

Made on a shoestring budget of Rs.4 crore, “Rise Of The Zombie” is about transformation and origin of a Zombie. The complex past story that turns into a contemporary psychological horror with Zombie mayhem will keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Keeping the story simple was a challenge for the team, says Luke.

“The film is a beginning of a story. It is the first part of a long story. It is part one of a zombie trilogy, which is going to be coming out in the years to come,” he said. “Every story should begin in a simple way and that is what we have tried. That has been the most exciting challenge – to keep it simple,” he added.

A remake of the 1981-classic “Chashme Buddoor”, which had Farooque Sheikh, Deepti Naval, Rakesh Bedi and Ravi Baswani, the new version also stars Ali Zafar, Divyendu Sharma and Siddharth. It is set for a Friday release.

Taapsee, who has stepped into Deepti Naval’s shoes, hopes to get appreciation from the audience. “It is my first film and be ready to see a new girl in Bollywood,” she said and added that she hopes “to get more opportunities and appreciation“.

“I am nervous because it’s my first Bollywood film but I am confident as well because we have put in a lot of hard work,” added the actress who featured in southern movies like Tamil movie “Aadukalam” and Telugu film “Veera“.

Actors Taapsee Pannu and Divyendu Sharma on the sets of reality show “India’s Best Dramebaaz.” Taapsee , who makes her Bollywood debut with “Chashme Buddoor” remake, says shooting for David Dhawan directed film was so much fun that she and her co-star felt they were on a picnic.

Himmatwala (1983) Vs Himmatwala (2013)

Starting with recent release, Sajid Khan wanted to re-create Himmatwala of 1980′s which had Jeetendra and Sridevi in the lead roles. The old movie was a super hit due to sheer performances of the actors and the story suited to that era of audience. Sajid Khan did not do anything special apart from adding few gags in the movie and remade it. Due to bad performances and story being non- sense drama. Many of the audience felt the remake was terrible.

Don (1978) Vs Don (2006)

Farhan Akhtar remade the iconic Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don starring Shahrukh Khan. The movie was most stylish at that time and apart from iconic dialogues that remained everything was tweaked a little bit like the story was reworked,the situations were changed and with SRK’s performance, the remake won many hearts. It was this movie that everybody noticed that old movies could prove to be profitable ventures. Don eventually paved for its own sequel Don 2.

Agneepath (1990) Vs Agneepath (2012)

The old Agneepath was a terrible flop. Yash Johar who made this film could not believe and was never able to get over it. So for that reason after many years, his son Karan Johar remade it. The remake was very successful. The movie went on to become the first big hit of that year. The new project was handled by debutant Karan Malhotra and starred Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Sholay (1975) Vs  Aag (2006)

Sholay was one film when everyone was against the movie being remade. Many people were against because the director was Ram Gopal Varma. Ramu din’t disappoint anyone and gave what the audience , a very very bad remake. From worst acting to worst screenplay and being worse in every other department we could think.
