She has been planning to have her restaurant chain in London and also her own cloth line. But one thing that has seen the day’s light is her perfume S2.
”It is really unique and very international yet it has an ethnic feel to it. It’s something that is very synonymous with me. I chose the name S2 because I thought that is a brand that can go on for my other products as well my own clothing line which I do intend on doing. I may even have a jewelry line,” said Shilpa. She was recently honored at IIFA for the global impact she created through Big Brother. Great going Shilpa!
Life in a Metro…proves beyond Shilpa Shetty
Anurag Basu is a happy man. His Life in a Metro…did extremely well both in India and UK. But apparently the credit has gone to Shilpa Shetty who has become an international star with UK’s Big Brother. At last something of honor has come to Basu that his movie could stand by itself without the Shetty fame.
Basu’s Metro will now be among the chosen gallery of Oscars. Oscar Library has asked for Basu’s Metro-screenplay to be kept for reference. “Life in a Metro , whose script too has been written by Basu, has been invited by the Motion Picture Academy’s prestigious Margaret Herrick Library to be part of its sprawling script collection,” a release from producers UTV said. ‘The library has collections of more than 32,000 books, 1,800 periodical titles, 60,000 screenplays, lobby cards, over 8 million photographs, more than 300 manuscript and other special collections relating to prominent industry individuals, studios and organisations, music scores and sound recordings, production and costume sketches, artifacts and oral histories.’ So if not Oscar awards then it is Oscar library for us!
Shilpa Shetty to be a style statement with S2
London has been mesmerized by Shilpa’s beauty and it will be miserably enchanted by her fragrance too. Shilpa Shetty will be launching her own perfume range called S2 on June 12. The markets targeted are UK and Gulf. Manufacturers Fragrance and Beauty are the team behind this perfume launch. And Shilpa sounds all very happy the way the fragrance has shaped up: “I selected the final fragrance and am very happy with it. The perfume lasts really long and has notes of jasmine and citrus to it”.
‘The perfume will be housed in a classic yet modern bottle, designed with a leopard print on a panel inside. It’s to represent the two sides to Shilpa –cool on the outside and deep on the inside. Besides jasmine and musk, there are also fruity flavours to the perfume, which is supposed to reflect her Indian heritage and will appeal to the UK and Gulf markets,’ say the review.
Indian Movies take a plunge in Festival De Cannes
The 60th Cannes Film Festival in the land of Sun, Sand and Cinema is going to be a refreshing spot for Indian Movies. The festival started yesterday and will continue till the 27th of May. Several Indian movies are making their presence felt at Cannes this year.
Seven of them in different Indian languages will feature in the “Cinema of the World” section on May 19 and 20. The seven include, Malayalam film Saira, Tamil film Veyil, Bengali film Dosar, English film Missed Call, art-house Hindi film Dharm and popular Bollywood hits Lage Raho Munnabhai and Guru.
For small time filmmakers who can not afford huge marketing campaigns, Cannes is a yielding platform to get international buyers. More than 100 Indian Films along with their Indian entertainment companies take this opportunity to promote their movies.
The marketing section will also have Ashutosh Gowarikar’s “Jodha-Akbar”, Anurag Basu’s “Metro”, R.Balakrishnan’s “Cheeni Kum” and also John Abraham starring movie “Goal”.
iDream Productions will act as sales agent for the Indo-US film Karma, Confessions and Holi starring Sushmita Sen and Naomi Campbell. Kaleidoscope Entertainment is expected to unveil plans for their ambitious Mahabharata trilogy which Mani Ratnam is likely to direct.
Apart from the films actors from Bollywood- Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Irfan Khan and Paresh Rawal will sizzle on the red carpet. Let us hope that soon we will have a nomination and an award won at Cannes.
Metro is in the metros and also on the net
Anurag Basu is all set for a simultaneous release of his film Metro at the Theatres and also on the Internet. Vivah and Hatrick had the same strategy and Basu also plans to use the same. Metro will premier on Rajshri.com which started the trend of premiering premium Bollywood movies online.
“We are delighted to announce the online premiere of UTV’s eagerly anticipated film, Metro on May 11 alongside its worldwide theatrical release,” says Rajshri Media managing director Rajat Barjatya. Metro deals with the “thrills and shrills” of city life that releases internationally under UTV’s banner. Cashing in on Shilpa Shetty’s recent Big Brother fame, the producers are expecting to score it well with the South Asian audiences. Metro also has a great cast of Shiney Ahuja, Kay Kay Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma, Irfan Khan, Sharman Joshi and Kangana Ranaut apart from Shilapa Shetty.

Shilpa Shetty says no to one more reality show
Shilpa Shetty was rumored to be part of Australia’s Big Brother too but I guess the lady has had enough of it and was quoted rubbishing the rumor off.
Her spokesperson and publicist Dale Bhagwagar was quoted saying, “She won’t be a part of another reality show. Shilpa participated in the UK ‘Big Brother’ as she wanted to do something new in her career and take one step ahead in life. It threw challenges untold and she emerged a stronger and more confident person. Since then, she has moved on in life.” Yes she has surely moved on in life and going places.
You are under arrest – Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere’s innocent Kiss

A court in Jaipur has issued arrest warrants for Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere on the basis of a PIL filed by Jaipur resident Poonam Chand Bhandari. While campaigning together against AIDS in Delhi, Richard Gere had jokingly grabbed Shilpa and planted several kisses on her cheek. I thought the madness was over after the drama about their effigies being burnt ended, but I was wrong! Sad how incidents are given such shockingly stupid twist!

Shilpa Shetty and the innocent Kiss
I guess no one missed the fervent kiss that Richard Gere placed on Shilpa Shetty’s cheeks. Gere termed it as an innocent kiss and Miss Shetty is also very comfortable with it. But one thing Ms. Shetty is not comfortable with is public’s response to the whole incident.
“I don’t want us to look like idiots in front of the foreign media. I didn’t understand what was happening. And then I saw everything being blown out of proportion on TV. I am not allowed to work, my entire shooting has been disrupted. Richard Gere called me three times since the morning to apologize and said that he didn’t want to hurt the sentiments of Indian people. And if he did, he is sorry. We went there for a cause. Richard doesn’t belong to our country, and he is so passionate about the cause,” said an angry Shilpa. The incident happened when Gere and Shilpa were at Delhi to promote AIDS awareness programs.
Shilpa Shetty bags Marks & Spencer
Shilpa Shetty may just be an over-familiar face for India but Britain is stung by her beauty. The gorgeous lady who started off her modeling career with Parag Sarees has now landed for a modeling assignment for Marks & Spencer, the largest clothing retailer in UK.
She has been signed as the face of the British clothing and lifestyle brand, and will launch the range with British TV presenter Gaby Roslin. Says a source in London, “Last week, Shilpa was in London to promote UTV’s Metro. During her visit, she also attended a photo shoot for the store’s clothing line. On Tuesday (March 20), an eye-witness spotted her trying out various outfits she is to wear for the advertising campaigns.” And the contract brings home £1,50,000 (approximately Rs 1.2 crore) home for Shilpa Shetty. This is just a start; let’s see what she bags next!
