Shah Rukh Khan’s pair in Chak De
Do you remember her in ‘Santro Walen hai na’ ad for Hyundai.
She is Vidya Malvade. Well what did you think? Does she look nice with SRK or did she look like his daughter? I really think she looks like SRK’s daughter…but the point is however much we regret her being in the ad she has been paired with SRK again for his next flick. Yash Raj Films’ ‘Chak De’ is already on floors and the cast is shooting in Australia. And none other than Vidya Malvade (santrowali) is cast opposite SRK. Incidentally, Vidya plays a young Sikh girl in Chak De, who wants to join the hockey team but cannot get her parents’ approval. SRK plays the team’s coach. It is being directed by Shimit Amin (Ab Tak Chhappan). God what a mismatch!
Shahrukh Khan rehearsing for KBC
He is tough and he is determined! Shahrukh is surely going to prove that he is different and original for the KBC 3. For this he has even set up a KBC studio at his residence so that he could rigorously rehearse the show and be as comfortable as possible for the show.
Star India’s COO Sameer Nair says, “He was in Australia when we asked him if he would prefer a mock set at a studio near his house. But he said it would be better if we could arrange it at his house itself. All we needed was a 25×25 room. We have given him the chairs; the computerji, the graphic system, the sound system and even mock participants are sent so that he plays with them. Everything is there except the lights. It’s a bit cramped when compared to the actual set-up, but it’s good.” And guess who are the participants- every friend of the king khan and his guests at home are the hot seat takers at home. That’s not enough, in order to be the best he has postponed his shooting schedules for his home production Om Shanti Om, to be directed by Farah Khan.
Shahrukh ropes in Karan Johar for Airtel Ad
SRK and Karan both are famous overseas celebrities and every entrepreneur is hell bent on catching both of them to promote their products. Latest is Airtel, which went a step ahead to rope in Karan to make a 60-second commercial for them exclusively for them.
And without guessing it is clear that SRK, the brand ambassador of Airtel, helped Airtel to get this opportunity. But the question is will Karan manage to tell everything in 60-seconds? Usually Karan finds it difficult to squeeze in things he has to say in a three hour-long film. Lets see how well he does excel in making a commercial.

Nikhil Advani’s last hero and KBC’s present host SRK has told the media and the star TV bosses that he’s NOT gonna copy Amitabh Bachchan in the show but do his own thing… but the man with oodles of style and grace also admitted that he’ll go to AB on his knees to ask him to participate in the show… hats off to the DON of 2006!!!
6. IIFA, the organization that awards the film fraternity every year, was awarded by Triangle Media Group Awards the other night…

Ab SRK banega KKKKCrorepati!!!
Well, I’m no taxman assessing Shah Rukh Khan to be talking about the millions he’s made. Rather I was referring to Star India’s decision to appoint him the successor of Amitabh Bachchan as the host of the hugely popular show Kaun Banega Corepati’ in its third season. Bollywood’s legend has made the show his own hosting it for the first two seasons but now it seems Big B isn’t too inclined to go further.
So the producers ‘naturally’ approached the King Khan and he agreed, but naturally again. The shooting of the show is expected to begin from mid-December and the show ‘KBC 3’ is expected to go on air from the end of January 2007.
So there you are looks like it is another step in SRK’s effort to emulate the Big B. So after Don its gonna be KBC, wonder what else he wants to copy from Amitabh, may be call himself the Big S (opps… pun intended that). Copying or just a coincidence, SRK is back to where it started all for him. Back in the late 80’s the junta gave him the thumps up making him a superstar and if anything similar happens again he might just be inching his way up to the same pedestal as Big B,… toh shruu Karen yeh adbhut khel KKKK Kaun Banega KKKCorepati tritiya…
Passion is what defines the King Khan!

passion for his family and passion for Karan…I mean for Karan Johar’s films- these are a few passions that SRK loves to indulge in. But the new addition to this list is his newly discovered passion for partying. First it was on his B’day at the Ambani House and this time it was with his crew members of his next Yash Raj film Chak De in Australia. Shahrukh is coaching eleven girls for the sport of hockey in the film. And everyone pledged his energy was contagious…SRK you are invincible!
Bollwood is 76% under smoke
A World Health Organisation survey of tobacco use in movies in Bollywood showed that more than 76 per cent of its most popular films depicted some sort of tobacco use, mostly cigarettes. And King Khan is of course aware and trying to quit smoking. 
But this trial has not resulted into anything so far. Hmm…looks like all Khans are starting to be health conscious and socially responsible because Saif has determined to quit smoking too. Not just that Saif has joined an anti-tobacco campaign and started drinking a lot of water to give up cigarettes. Psst…Mr King Khan did you hear the Funda…drink water to quit smoking!
A belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY ShahRukh Khan !!!
Oh people… I was so busy preparing for DHOOM 2 and reading your comments on my DON movie review that I totally forgot to write about King Khan’s birthday!!!
So what if the news has turned stale by now… I know my regular readers will enjoy it AND I’m doing this for my icon SHAH RUKH KHAN!!!
The candy floss romance specialist Raj/Rahul turned narcissist DON… Does SRK even look close to 41??? But but but… he IS 41 and makes no bones about the fact that he just got on the wrong side of forty…
For him, nothing has changed with age over the past 15 years of stardom! Except for the fact that he’s realized the importance of settling down in life and spending some quality time with your family… he spent his entire birthday week with his family except for a small do organized by the Ambani family in his honor!
Well, better late than never ShahRukh 
so while the world rejoices the birthday of a stalwart of Indian cinema by making documentaries on him, designing huge flex boards and humongous cakes… all this little but ardent fan of yours can say to you is – A very happy (belated) birthday to you SRK… tum jiyo (aur super star raho) hazaaron saal: saal ke din ho pachaas hazaar
DON ki sabse badi galti yahi hai – ki woh DON ka remake hai!!!
Oki people… thanks for flooding us with your comments for my reviews on DON… you need to see them to believe them… and the vast differences in them was the most amazing factor…. there were people who said that SRK was brilliant in the movie and did full justice to the character… and on the other side, this girl actually wanted to be paid for bearing with the SFX bonanza!!!
)… both the films (the original and the remake) had their own pros and cons… I mean, there were hundreds of technical errors in the 1978 version of the story which were accepted without a blink of an eye lid that time because of the limitations of that age … but the acting talent and screenplay were mind blowing, making the film accepted with open hearts and arms by the audiences!
Whereas in today’s time, we have a galore of technologies and ways to create a painting on celluloid… the cinematography and costumes were par excellence in the newer version… leaving hardly any place for an error or complaint… but it would take a miracle to recreate the charisma of Amitabh Bachchan as Don or the larger than life screenplay by Salim-Javed (except the lifted dialogues 
)…
So in short… watch both of them and enjoy them for their own fortes!!!! Kya bolte bhai log?????????
Don ko phir se banana mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai!!!
Farhan Akhtar must have taken a leaf out Sanjay Leela Bhansali to script this film. Why? Well Bimal Roy’s Devdas was too simple and he made the audience connect to Devdas easily. And to avoid this Sanjay choose a GRAND setting, larger than life background to make his movie.
Same is the case with DON (2006).
Screenplay and Direction: Farhan Akhtar Chandra Barot’s Don was stylish, and screenplay driven. But when you are making a remake (and that too of a film like DON) you can hardly break free out of it, no matter how much you change the finer elements. So Farhan Akhtar uses SFX, John Wooish (Mission Impossible) and Warchoskish (The Matrix) style of chases and fights.
And that’s why I think Farhan Akhtar Rocks. Yep the film is too long, but you will only feel it when the not so good songs are playing.
Cinematography: Mohanan Excellent. Just Excellent. In Dil Chahta Hai, it was Ravi K Chandran and here is a new find Mohanan. Why don’t others find good technicians yaar? The skyjumping scenes, the lighting when Don re-enters, they work wonders for you, and go nicely with the screenplay.
Music: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy: Disappointing. Yep. Probably the trio have been dwelling too much with Karan Johar, they end up disappointing. Or may be the hype and the pressure of Don got to them. Except the tunes from the old one, the others fail to impress.
Dialogue: Farhan Akhtar & Salim Khan: I don’t know if he is the same guy from the famous Javed & Salim team, but for me the dialogues could have been punchier. Or this is the comparison in me talking. Except when you are taken completely by surprise by the story, the dialogue is just sufficient.
Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Esha Koppikar, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Om Puri, Chunkey Pandey, Arjun Rampal. Well after seeing the cast, you know who does what and how.
Shahrukh excels as Don, but much better you don’t compare him to Amitabh Bachan (You know who hams and who doesn’t). About the Pepsi girls, lets not talk. Esha Koppikar actually does good. After all she has been in the “company” of “Factory” guys.
Om Puri does best with whatever screen time he has and Boman Irani… Oh my God. He is too good. Forget Munnabhai(s) he will have more films in his bag now.
Don is not “Oh!Great Film”. But it is a very good action film, as long as you won’t compare it to the original one. And if you want to make comparisons, well you can and you will;but, you won’t realize you are in for a surprise.
DON – Movie review
“I am the KING”
You must have heard ShahRukh Khan say this hundreds of times… but you need to see DON to believe those lines!
When I sat in the hall (my neck still paining due to sitting in the first row of an IMAX! ) I had this thought that SRK will never be able to play Don the? way the legendary Amitabh Bachchan did… and I was proved quite right…
ShahRukh could not be the suave, composed and all supreme Don who did things with such exuberance that made the impossible seem possible… He could not portray arrogance in a subtle manner, but created his own mannerisms (as usual)!
With the help of the typical SRK addititives and mind boggling screenplay, editing, storyline, SFX etc etc provided by Farhan Akhtar, he’s made DON be more mean, menacing, cunning and unpredictable than ever!!!
Though there isn’t much of scope for the ‘pan’aholic Vijay, SRK knows how to draw the distinct line between Don and Vijay… and also blend the latter into the former as the storyline progresses…
Coming to the other characters… Akhtar Jr. hasn’t given enough justice to many of them in this ever so stylish venture…
The DCP D’Silva played by Boman Irani is definitely the most balanced dude in the camp… wonder what he does to get into the skin of his role, but he manages to give in a 100% to every shade of it (even the manipulative part )
Poor Interpol officer Mallik (Om Puri) doesn’t get much of screen presence and neither does Don’s girlfriend Anita (Ishaa Kopikar)… Roma (Priyanka Chopra) is as sizzling as ever… though she’s made to look more glamorous than vindictive and ferocious “Junglee Billi” … Kareena Kapoor too was nothing more than an item no.!
Maintaining balance was the key out here… balance between Don and Vijay. Balance between the old and the new DON. Balance between Vardhaan and……… nah guys! We ain’t letting the kity out of the bag… a Vardhaan does exist in this one too… and is portrayed with outmost BALANCE!
Talking about the most unique feature of any masala Bollywood film – the music! Don’s music fails to impress… though the background score is amazing, but the remixed songs don’t leave much of an impact! Even the “khai ke pan banaras wala” no. doesn’t have the rusticity in it! Wonder what Shankar Ehsaan and Loy were thinking when they included two new songs(read duds) like ‘moriya re’ and ‘aaj ki raat’ in an album like DON???
The original storyline has been followed and the director has actually been able to relate the audience to the original seamlessly… though at times, the editing and scene change doesn’t justify the continuity of the story, you still are ready to believe all they say coz they say it with such style!!!
The vision of Farhan Akhtar has definitely taken the concept and screenplay to a greater level in this creation of his… Kudos to the young man for that…
Our verdict — ‘DON’t miss it!!! And ‘DON’t get up from your seat before the final credits… the final scene will automatically make you jump up in surprise … just the way I did!!!
P.S. do remember, Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai (if you know what I mean )!!!
ShahRukh Khan – there’s more than DON coming our way!!!
“Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai!“ was and still is one of the most famous line that’s come out of Amitabh Bachchan’s mouth… and for all you know, ShahRukh Khan might just prove him right by making him the uncaught thief forever in his venture – DON 2!
One question – do you think King Khan had gone anywhere??? He still rules our hearts, right?
