IndiaFm, UTV is at its peak with a series of ambitious projects. It has been spreading its international presence by co-producing “the Namesake”. The coming up ventures includes two new projects with Will Smith and M. Night Shyamalan. As for Indian movies, UTV has this massive plan to dub the 2006 hit Rang De Basanti in English.

The movie will be re-launched worldwide in its new avatar. The international version will be crisply edited and will be a 2.10 hours movie. Any guess what will the title? Well it is –“Colour Of Sacrifice”.
Rang De Basanti looses at BAFTA
Rang De Basanti was unlucky at the Oscars and hopes for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards (BAFTA) have also shattered. RDB was one among the contenders of the best foreign language film category at BAFTA but Guillermo Del Toro’s fantastical saga Pan’s Labyrinth won the award.Never the less RDB had the honor to share the platform with Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto and Pedro Almodovar’s Volver among others. The ceremony, officially the Orange British Academy Film Awards but popularly known as BAFTA, has become an essential pre-Oscars stop since it was moved in 2000 from April to a February date to precede the Academy Awards in Hollywood.
Rang De Basanti making waves at Oscars
A.R Rahman is to be thanked to have given our industry such
nice compositions! And the recognition has also come from the west. After inspiring several million Indians, his songs “Khalbali” and “Lukka Chuppi” from Rang De Basanti have made it to the long list of the Best Original Song category for the Oscars in the 79th Annual Academy Awards. “It is a wonderful feeling. I have not heard of such a thing happening in the past. These are songs in Rahman and in my personal space,” said Prasoon Joshi, Lyricist of Rang De Bansanti.

The greatest feeling is that Rahman is being pitted against rockers like Sheryl Crow. And that’s one heck of an honor! Also figuring in the list is “Chan Chan” from the movie “Water” and A.R Rahman again is the man behind it. Currently there are 56 songs being considered in this category and the final nominations will be announced on January 23 and the awards ceremony will be held a month later. Lets hope the movie also makes it in the nomination and the winning category of Oscars.
