“Water” lost Oscar to “The Lives of Others”

Deepa Mehta’s “Water”, a film on some dark sides of India by an Indian director, which was satirically Canada’s official nomination for the 79th Annual Academy awards lost the prestigious award to Germany’s “The Lives of Others”.

But don’t let the disappointment seep in because though the last country to view it, India will see the film releasing on the 9th of March. So be prepared to set the mood right for one of the master pieces world has bowed to!

John Abraham leaves for Oscars with…

john-bip.jpgThe D Day for Water at the Oscars is just three days away and John flew to U.S to walk the red carpet on the night of the 25th of February with his mom. WAIT…did I say ‘with his mom’? Well apparently it is true that the actor has preferred to take his mom to the gala night than his long time girl friend Bipasa Basu who is otherwise always seen holding his arm. Of course there is nothing wrong with taking one’s mother, in fact it is appreciative. But to totally brushing of the importance of Bipasa puts his rapport with the Dhoom girl under question. Not that I have been made to think like that by the media but his comment forces one to draw such conclusions. Take a look:

“I am going to the Oscars with Mom to make my luck stronger with her blessings. Bipasha is busy with her work, and why do you want her to come with me?”

Why? well you yourself preferred holding hands and appearing for every function together, isn’t it? So what’s wrong John?

Has Oscars gotten into his head? Anyway, we wish him good luck for ‘Water’ at the Oscars.

Deepa Mehta’s Water in the Oscar final five

Deepa Mehta proved it that her directorial venture “Water” is here to stay, convey a message and also to participate in the Oscar race. From being selected in the nine expected movies, the movie ‘Water’ has moved to the final five Oscar award nominations for best foreign language category.

Let’s see if the Canadian entry about India will win the race or not. The awards will be announced on the 25th of February. But Indians should keep their fingers crossed for the 23rd of February in case they do not want to miss the Oscar nominated movie on India. Speculations are high that the film will release in India after its long ban on February 23rd. Good for India if it starts accepting the ills that were committed in the past shown through a film as soon as possible.
