Krazzy 4 movie review
Director: Jaideep Sen
Cast: Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Suresh Menon, Juhi Chawla and Dia Mirza
Debutante director Jaideep Sen must have foreseen the future of his movie Krazzy 4 and that’s why roped in SRK and Hrithik Roshan to become the saving grace of the movie. But inspite of SRK, Hrithik Roshan, Rakhi Sawant, Ram Sampath (for giving negative publicity for 2 crores), a great star cast and numerology the film turns out to be a dud.
Krazzy 4 is the story about four mental guys Raja (Arshad Warsi), Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav), Dr Mukherjee (Irrfan Khan), Dabboo (Suresh Menon) and their doc Dr Sonali. Raja is an angry mental man and will hit out at the slightest provocation or even without and has an intermittent explosive disorder in simple words ‘Sarphira’. Dr Mukherjee aka captain of Krazzy4, is a clean freak, wants everything to be perfect and clean and suffers from a personality disorder.
Gangadhar is a schizophrenic who lives in the past and his pals are Nehru, Gandhi, Tilak and Patel. He and his imaginary pals are busy fighting for swaraj and freedom. Last but not the least is cute Dabboo who with his 3/4th pants is everybody’s pet and is frightened to an extent that he doesn’t speak a word.
All hell breaks loose when their savior Dr Sonali takes them out for a cricket match just for a change, Dr Sonali is kidnapped and our Krazzy 4 are left stranded in the big, bad and mad krazzy world. How they survive and rescue their doctor forms the rest of the story.
When Jaideep Sen had power performers like Irrfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav, Suresh Menon and Arshad Warsi he failed to utilize their potential. Suresh Menon who is a terrific performer is kept on mute all the time. Arshad Warsi inspite of having a meaty role fails to deliver as an angry man. The only actor who is the saving grace of K4 is Rajpal Yadav with a rocking performance; perfect comic timing makes him standout amongst others. Juhi Chawla and Irrfan Khan as Mr. tidy.
The craziest thing about the movie is its bad story inspired from Hollywood flick “The Dream Team”, wonder how Senior Roshan approved of it. The script has some unrealistic scenes which makes you go What The F like Raja bumping into his ex-girlfriend Dia Mirza, Dr Mukherjee meeting his daughter on the road, the krazzy guys carrying a successful sting operation and the climax.
The film is 2 hours long and is interesting in the first half, and a bore in the second eventually ending in a bad climax. Both script and screenplay of K4 are bad.
Coming to the highlight of Krazzy 4-The item numbers, I personally liked SRK’s Breakfree more than Hrithiks, but both are great. Rakhi’s item number would appeal to the frontbenchers and will keep them happy. Rajesh Roshan’s music is disappointing but Break Free is awesome (Credit should be given to Rajesh Roshan for composing rest of the song apart from the 6 lifted seconds).
I hope Jaideep Sen comes out with a good movie next time with a powerful story. Meanwhile the audiences wouldn’t be crazy for Krazzy 4.

Khuda Kay Liye Movie Review
* Shaan – Mansoor
* Fawad Afzal Khan – Sarmad
* Iman Ali – Maryam
* Naseeruddin Shah – Maulana Wali (Special Appearance)
* Hameed Sheikh – Sher Shah Director:Shoaib Mansoor
Khuda Kay Liye attracted audiences for being the first Pakistani film to be released in India. Apart from opening gates for serious exchange of films between India and Pakistan, Khuda Kay Liye is one movie that has differentiated myth from reality and Islam from fanaticism.Khuda Kay Liye is a story of Mansoor (Shaan) and Sarmad (Fawad Khan) two brothers, from an affluent and liberal Pakistani family, who encourages them to pursue their career in music. Khuda Kay Liye is the story of Mary (Iman Ali) who struggles to find her true identity as British-born-Pakistani. Khuda Kay Liye is also the story of those hapless Asians who became the victim of America’s post 9/11 obsessive hunt for terrorists.
The film unfolds as a dramatic clash of cultures between two rock musician brothers –Mansoor, a liberalist disapproves of the religious view of music. Sarmad is brainwashed by Mullah Tahiri (Rasheed Naz) that Islam doesn’t approve of Music and Art. Sarmad is gradually transformed from a Jeans-wearing westernized Pakistani to a so-called ‘true Muslim’. Still Sarmad could not understand why he is not happy despite making the right choice. While innocent Mansoor, having made the right choice ends up in the US prisons as one of the suspects of 9/11.
Director Shoaib Mansoor questions multiple factions of the world today – modernists for not using their brains to decide on religious preferences, liberalists for deviating from religion, extremists for mixing politics with religion and feeding misconceptions about religion to people, Non-resident Asians who are confused which place they belong to and Americans who mix religion with terrorism.
Muslims should watch this movie to see how they can hold both religion and the world in hand and strike a balance. The rest of the nation should watch this movie to get their facts right not only about Islam but also Pakistan.

Black & White movie review

This week’s Friday release Black and White gives us info about quite a few bombs, – how to tame a suicide bomber and how to sit through a movie, which will eventually bomb at the box office. Its time to relieve Subhash Ghai of the “Showman” tag and award him with a ” No Show ” tag. And its high time for him to step down from the director’s seat, after giving a hat trick of bombs- Yaadein, Kisna and now Black & White (which can instill suicidal tendencies amongst audiences for sitting through them) and just stick to being a producer.
There is nothing white about this movie as everything is black except for the performances by Anil Kapoor, Anurag Sinha and Shefali Shah. Couple of years back we saw Amir Khan-the terrorist disguised as a flirty guide, but being a perfectionist he made it look real. Now come back to B & W guys, we have our Anurag Sinha as Numair Qazi- Fidayeen from an Afghan terror camp, a hardcore terrorist with a heart of stone, comes to Delhi on a mission. A mission to blow up the Red Fort on August 15- Hah! As if it was possible for this guy to do it single handedly, and I guess there is something called security too, Mr. Ghai thinks we are dumb enough to take it??
But then our quiet and grim terrorist must have seen the famous movie Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, because he heads straight to Chandni Chowk, saare Delhi mein Chowk hi mila tha?? Our stone cold terrorist is given aasra by a wise poet (Habib Tanvir) in Chandni Chowk, our Afghani hunk does his homework well and passes himself as a victim of Gujarat riots justifying his hatred towards disbelievers. Neighbors to our poet are Rajan Mathur ( Anil Kapoor ), an Urdu professor at Delhi university and his red-hot-chili-pepper social activist wife ( Shefali Shah-she is superb). Now our Professor Rajan is a believer of secularism, and makes no stone unturned to bring peace amongst Hindus and Muslims of Chandni Chowk, so he is a part time peacemaker.
The story moves forward, as our suicide bomber bumps into our peacemaker couple, who welcome him into their own family, loving, caring and giving happiness to him (which he never got back home), as they would have given to their own son. Now this results in conflicts in Numair’s mind, and we are left to wonder which part of the mind he will eventually listen to. Great and sensitive story we can say, but it fails miserably to keep the audience gripped to their seats- Chalo yaar jaldi suicide bombing kario, I cant sit through this crap, is what the audience starts to think.
Naah! Numair is not the real suicide bomber of the movie it’s the screenplay. Mr Ghai ruins the climax of the movie, making it unreal and unconvincing, even a child with a lollipop in his mouth will laugh at it. The only way to understand the ending is to rip off the main plug of your brain or you can become Paris Hilton, only if you really want to.
Anurag Sinha, does a good job as a debutant, with few dialogues to mouth, he manages to express through his eyes and body. Anil Kapoor acts convincing and composed. Shefali Shah is as usual great. Aditi Sharma-huh does she deserve a mention, I wonder how did she won that superstar reality show. Habib Tanvir has a great screen presence. The background score of the movie is good, and the songs are bad. Surely Mr Ghai deserves a pat on his back, for venturing into this dangerous territory, the thought and possibility that terrorists can be reformed makes the viewer bound to think about it.
But the whole package is a real disappointment, with nothing exciting and gripping. The bad movie at the end of the day overshadows the brilliant performances by the cast. We can say Black and White is a suicide bomber at the Box Office.

Verdict: Can be watched once, but beware- watch at your own risk!
Mira Nair has a golden catch: Johnny Depp and Amitabh Bachchan
Mira Nair couldn’t hope for better. She has got he best of Hollywood and Bollywood in her next film Shantaram, which goes on floor after her latest project “Namesake” releases in March. Johnny Depp and Amitabh Bachchan would share the screen in Nair’s next project Shantaram. The ‘Pirates of Caribbean’ star will be playing the central character in the film, Mr Bachchan would be the kind-hearted Mumbai gangster. Johnny Depp had himself approached the New York based Indian Filmmaker to direct Shantaram.

Shantaram will be extensively shot in Australia, China and India. The film is the screen adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ book of the same name. The story is of true global value and is about an Australian convict called Roberts (Depp) who is caught for a Bank robbery and for heroin addiction. Roberts flees from prison and comes to Mumbai, India. In Mumbai he confronts the mafia and befriends Kader Bhai (Bachchan). Kader Bhai becomes his mentor and guide and Roberts finally decides to help the slum dwellers and starts a health centre that provides free medical facilities to the poor.
It’s all for The Namesake!
Mira Nair’s next directorial project “The Namesake” that is based of Jhumpa Lahiri’s novel with the same name will have its world wide release in March, 07. Tabu, Irfan Khan and Kal Penn form the main star cast.

But would you trust me if I say that for Mira, Tabu wasn’t the first choice to play the Kolkota-born Ashima in the novel. Mira had first approached Rani Mukherjee for the role of Ashima and had asked Abhishek Bachchan to play her son’s role. But because Abhishek was told that he will have to do a semi-nude scene and some kisses, he retracted from the project and Rani followed the suit (for reasons unknown). Well…I don’t think Abhishek has a clean record of no on-screen kisses! But he better follow the rule he has set for his would-be wife Ash. And for Rani…I am amazed that she dropped such a good project. But then to think of it Mira wouldn’t have got a fine actress as Tabu to play the role of Ashima.
‘Black Friday’ hits the silver screen
Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Black Friday’ will hit the screen in three weeks after being banned for
around two years. Its theatrical promotion began with the screening of ‘Guru’. Anurag Kashyap has a definite winner in hands since it truly comes across as a hard-hitting film, as always maintained by the entire cast and crew of the film. The film is about the series of events that happened on the 12th of March, a Friday, in 1993 Mumbai blasts. Intense scenes with its hard hitting and acid-laden dialogues the film is sure going to shake the brains. Starring Kay Kay Menon, Pawan Malhotra and Aditya Srivastava in the lead, ‘Black Friday’ releases on February 9th.
