Chamku Movie Review
Star Cast - Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra
Director - Kabeer Kaushik
Lets start with the worst releases of this week. Out of every one good film made in Bollywood there are dozen mediocre and a dozen bad movies too. Chamku is one of those mediocre films which fail to leave any impact on you. It is one of those movies, you would comment – “Can do better”.

Its a fairly predictable story, a blissful family in country side Bihar, living a peaceful life in the lush green fields until terror strikes and makes the innocent Chamku into a naxal assassin. As the story unfolds, we see the state joining hands with Chamku, making him into a state sponsored assassin and sending him on missions to wipe of the scum of the earth.
So the crude naxal transforms into a typical Bollywood action hero with designer clothes and designer goggles. Obviously he had to find love so he falls in love with sexy teacher Priyanka who is seen wearing sheer shiffon saris and sexy blouses. They sing a couple of duets here and there. Finally Chamku having found true loves, wants to settle down and go the family way. But he cannot, because he is merely a pawn in this big game of power and money.
So eventually Kaushik is trying to blame the bad ‘system’. Huh… Predictable stuff… isn’t it. Bobby Deol is definitely not impressive as an aggressive Naxalite. Because most of the times he is wearing such a dumb expression on his face that it seems he is a bonded labor rather than an actor. Quite ironic is the name Chamku for Bobby… he is anything but bright on the screen. Priyanka Chopra did what she was supposed to with a limited role like that, just be a pretty prop to look at.
Nothing puts you off on a weekend than watching a boring predictable movie, which is full of unwanted songs you wish you could forward and watch this entire movie in fast forward mode.
Bachna Ae Haseeno Movie Review
Ranbir Kapoor got such a meaty offer from Yash Raj Films right in the beginning of his career. Expectations from this movie were obviously high.Bachna Ae Haseeno promises you everything that the other Yash Raj films have offered you previously, good music, good star-cast, fairly good script and performances and ofcourse snow-capped mountains of Switzerland and the Sarson Ke Khet of Punjab.
The story unfolds with Raj (as usual) who is just not the typical Yash Raj hero (ala Shahrukh Khan) but is the ‘aaj ka typical nau-jawan who usually has multiple relationships in life’. As he grows through the various stages of life he meets stereotypical women characters and has relationships with them.
Teenager Raj falls in love with Mahi (Minissha Lamba). A stereotypical teenage girl who feeds on the romanticisms of DDLJ and is too innocently positive in life. Ultimately, Raj screws it all up and they break up. Years later in 2000, Raj, like all graduates is busy trying to get his career going with a busy and monotonous job, he falls in love with a very skimply clad neighbour, bombshell Radhika (Bipasha Basu). Attraction graduates to love and just when marriage is on the cards, he screws it all up again by fleeing to Sydney. In Sydney, he falls in love with Gayatri (Deepika), a cabbie. This time, Raj is quite seriously in love with Gayatri but Gayatri is a stereotypical career oriented woman who doesnt believe in marriage and ends up breaking Raj’s heart.
Raj getting a taste of his own medicine, gets enlightened and is ready to repent and seek forgiveness of his former girlfriends.
Performances were good, Minissha Lamba’s performance seems the best of the three. Bipasha and Ranbir dont share a chemistry. Deepika Padukone also plays her part well. Ranbir Kapoor, has a good screen presence and he looks very promising. The first half of the movie is interesting but the second half becomes a bit draggy and predictable. So there are glitches in the film but it is worth watching.

Singh is Kinng Movie Review

Singh is Kinng was the most hyped movie this season. The Anees Bazmee+Katrina+Akshay combo in a Vipul Shah package is the reason enough. Audiences had decided in advance that they will like the movie and so happens, as the movie truly lives up to the hype.It is a typical Anees Bazmee comedy (ala No Entry and Welcome) bound to entertain the masses. Its a story about the clumsy cute Sardar with a golden heart who wants to do good but messes it up. Troubled by this menace the villagers pack him off to Australia to bring a fellow villager Lucky Singh back home.
The story unfolds with a series of comic mishaps that happen as Happy Singh sets out to do a good deed. He lands up in Egypt instead of Australia where we meets Sonia (Katrina Kaif) and falls in love with her. They single a couple of songs there and Happy Singh sets out to Australia again to find Lucky Singh.
Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood) plays a ruthless underworld don in Australia and surprisingly his fellow gangsters are only sardars. In the comic chaos of getting Lucky Singh back, Happy Singh finds himself becoming the king of the underworld.
Overall, the movie is a complete mindless entertainer like Anees Bazmee’s previous entertainers. It is a total paisa wasool. Akshay Kumar is truly the king of the movie – a complete entertainer with superb comic timing. He shares amazing chemistry with not only Katrina but also Om Puri. Some of their dialogues are superb.
The movie has been packaged, promoted and marketed well and you know just what to expect from the movie. This works in favor of the film which is all set to break box office records.
My verdict – Go for it!

Movies This Week
This weekend is gonna be cold folks because we have two boring movies released this week – Apoorva Lakhia’s Mission Istanbul and Ganesh Acharya’s Money Hai To Honey Hai.

Mission Istanbul is nothing but a stupid story of gun fights, car chases, and larger than life stunts and over all a childish mindless mission. Understood that terrorism is the latest topic people would want to make films and write stories about but terrorism is not just about goodies vs. the baddies. C’mon… there has to be some human element somewhere. The film complete lacks the emotional bedrock. But when you see the characters themselves not connecting with each other, how do you expect the film to connect to the audiences? There is nothing to watch out for in the movie… except for the exotic locales of Istanbul.
Rating 2/5

Money Hai To Hone Hai is another silly comedy and one wonders why Govinda, who used to be the King of Comedy in the 90s gets so tacky. Good comedians and good actors like Govinda, Manoj Bajpai, Prem Chopra and Archana Puran Singh desperately trying to be funny. Celina Jaitley and Hansika Motwani acting as pretty and dumb props. If you have decided to check this movie out for the weekend… well… be prepared to sit through the movie trying to figure out whether to laugh at joke or laugh at the silliness of the movie.

Movie Review: De Taali

Director: Eshwar Niwas
What To Watch: Ritesh’s exellence in comedy
What Will Bore You Away: Aftab and the various moments which are dumped unnecessarily
The movie, I must insist isn’t a comedy throughout. It’s more about emotions in friendship and love and is surely an effort to make another ‘Dil Chahta Hai’. The movie might be a better choice to watch when compared to the other disastrous releases of the week.
This movie starts with a sober sounding song which soon takes the form of a remixed version. Soon after we get to see the how three friends, Abhi(Aftab Shivdesani), Amu(Ayesha Takia) and Paglu(Ritesh Deshmukh) live together as if they are inseparable. Though Amu is a girl, the two beshtesht friends of hers, Paglu and Abhi are clueless about this fact….. Before anyone jumps to any kind of a conclusion, I must clear that the summary of the sentence was that Amu is a total tom boy. Abhi is a rich hot shot, who falls in love with every dumb and weird girl where as Paglu and Amu are a lot more sensible.
The most sensible of the three, though is Paglu, who discovers how his friend Abhi’s life would be better if he married in the group (which obviously means that I was refering to Amu). He soon is successful in making Amu realise that her feelings for Abhi have crossed the line of friendship and have entered the territory of love. But then, everything can’t happen according to the mastermind’s wishes, Abhi meanwhile falls for a little more sensible than his earlier loves, Kartika(Rimi Sen). And then starts the “Make-Abhi-Realise-His-Love-For-Amu” movement.
Ritesh Deshmukh has won hearts with his specialization in comedy, even Ayesha has done well post Sunday. But Aftab fails to woo the audience to a larger extent. The role of Anupam Kher is pathetic but could have been put to a better use.

Movie Review: khushboo

Director: Rajesh Ram Singh
What To Watch: Nothing
What Will Bore You Away: Everything
The movie didn’t look very promising after the reviews were out, and well, we got what we expected….A movie with no trace of fragrance.
The shitory…oops, the story of Khushboo starts with the attention at a very ambitious man, Raghu (Rishi Rehan), who puts is career ahead of everything else in the world, until he meets a girl in Chandigarh, Pinky (Avantikka), who woos him and then disappears in the crowd before he can approach her. And this happens for more than once so that it makes the hero wanting to talk to her even more. And when they finally get to talk, they come to know about the very strong bonding they had. And then once again, Piky vanishes out of Raghu’s life leaving him with no clue about her disappearance. i nearly started to suspect it to be a movie on reincarnation.
And then there’s this ‘Haseen Ittefaq’ once again which makes the two bump into each other again. This time, Pinky acts straight, and tells Raghu to meet her loving family. The family, as the Punjabis are projected in bollywood movies, is a horribly boisterous yet sweet and caring. Soon Raghu mingles up with them, but with that, comes his time to leave India and go on a posting to New York. Now comes the decision time where the actor needs to choose between love and career.
The movie has a very loud actress to her credit, who has unsuccessfully tried her best to mix up the bubbliness of Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor. Rishi had all the signs of an inexperienced actor and had surely thought that his weirdly Hrithik like expressions and eye movements would impress the audience. Prem Chopra has only been a little watchable character, but only comparatively.

Movie Review: Haal E Dil

Director: Anil Devgan
What To Watch: Adhyayan Suman (only if u are a fan of his….which I surely doubt!!)
What Will Bore You Away: Actors acting and film’s unoriginality
With the age of remix songs doing pretty well among the youngsters, the script writer of this movie had honestly thought, the remix movies would have the similar reception. This is a movie, which has made a point to touch every hit moment of a super hit flick from recent films.
The movie, being produced by Kumar Mangat, surely has his daughter, Amita Pathak as the centre of attraction. The story is about a girl, Sanjana (Amita Pathak) who is still a student, and as most of her lot, is in love with her classmate Rohit (Adhyayan Suman). But then she has to go to Shimla, boarding a train which has Shekhar (Nakuul), as her co passenger. Shekhar is well established in flirting and has a crush on Sanjana almost immediately. While Sanjana ignores him typical Kajol style in DDLJ by being absorbed in her book, Shekhar acts Sharukh, trying to impress the lady and playing his guitar. And then there comes a bit from Jab We Met, where the duo miss the train at some station and decide to stick with each other until they reach safely at the destination. They then drift to some jungle kind of a place where they encounter a horrid Veerappan like character.
Now when they finally rescue themselves and track their way back, Shekhar tells Sanjana that he loves her. As expected Sanjana rejects it which makes Shekhar to go on hunger strike in front of Sanjana’s house to prove his love for her (Gandhigiri is surely getting popular!!).
And then comes in scene long forgotten, Rohit, who was supposed to be Sanjana’s true and original love. From there on, the typical bollywood drama starts, for which I don’t have enough patience to describe.
The actress Amita Pathak is too fat to be a mainstream commercial movie actress. And the fact that she is projected as if she was the prettiest lady on the earth doesn’t goes down pretty well with the audience. The actress surely needs to lose some weight and work up her charms if she really wants to stay long. The actors are also not very successful in winning over the audiences, which make the film expected to go below average.

Movie Review: Hastey Hastey
Director: Ramanjit Juneja
What to watch: Nice locations of songs
What will bore u away: Foul comedy, weak script
My Rating: 1
As the title says it people had expected the movie to be a fun movie. Sadly, the movie doesn’t lives upto the expectations at all. The movie is all about how a girl ruins the life of a young and dynamic employee of hers named Neel Singh (Jimmy Shergill). Neel Singh is a handsome Manhattan based younster, who is commited to his girlfriend Maya (Nisha Rawal). The couple has a good time in Manhattan untill he gets a great job offer which demands him to come to India. Here, in India, away from his love, Neel bumps right into a girl named Tanvi (Monishka). The girl tries her best to seduce Neel, but Neel refuses to go out with her. This angers the lady and she decides to ruin his life.
The movie also stars Rajpal Yadav whose presence makes audience expect a little comedy out of the movie. But the actor’s comedy could’t win any points either. The comedy is not just dissatisfactory but also foul.
After disaster of movie “Stranger”, Jimmy Shergill desperately needed a hit, but alas, this movie wasn’t a good choice.
Movie Review: Woodstock Villa

Director: Hansal Mehta
Producer: Sanjay Gupta, Sanjay Dutt, Shobha Kapoor
What to watch: Sikander Kher and a good cinematography
What will bore u away: badly sequenced songs, loud and irritating sound effects
My Rating: 2.5
Well, like all sanjay Gupta movies, Woodstock Villa also features lot of darkness in it. It’s nicely styled and has a lot of machismo in Sikander Kher. The movie is a thriller with lots of style in it, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sikander Kher wins the style icon award of the year. The actor plays the role of an NRI (Sameer), who comes to India in search of some spice and gets entangled with all bad things. He is jobless, and has no money to even pay the rent of the apartment. Meanwhile, he comes across a beautiful traffic stopper (Neha Oberoi), who offers him a little strange but equally luricative deal. The plan is to fake her kidnap so that she can test her husband’s love for her and for which Sikander Kher will be paid a huge reward. The husband here is the actor Arbaaz Khan. Everything goes according to the plan; until the girl dies in Sameer’s captivity. The boy then, burries the body, erase all the evidences and plans to leave the scenario only to find another plot waiting for him.
The movie is all about the mystery woman (Neha Oberoi) who is dead but yet not dead. The performance of the debutant actor Sikander Kher is absolutely awesome. He has surely made his presence felt at the screen and has proved his acting skills.
After movies like Johnny Gaddar and Woodstock Villa, looks like the Machismo age is back right in between the Metro sexual era.
