Jhoom Barabar Jhoom drowns Chak De India
Yash Raj Films had a hard hitting blow on their face when their much anticipated Jhoom Barabar Jhoom turned out to be an utter flop. So a desperate attempt is being made to save YRF’s next “Chak De India” from the same fate.
The promos that were released with JBJ in the theatres were hooted by the audience very badly and therefore the promos are of the shelf now. Reports also have it that Yashraj camp has asked their team of people to visit theatres to gauge the response that Chak De is getting from the audience. Fortunately the 5 minute video introducing the players is getting decent reviews. So let us hope this SRK extravaganza is not again a YRF’s flop show!
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan create havoc
It seemed as if Abhishek Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai took the title ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ a little too literally during the special screening of the film. A few stars and their families were invited by Shaad Ali and YRF for the screening. Abhi-Ash arrived at the spot with potlis of coins and started throwing the coins on the screen. And needless to say the coins missed destination and fell on the special guests seated in the front row. Also Abhishek, unable to keep his excitement, was hooting, screening, giggling and dancing with wife Ash. This vexed the guests and an ashamed Shaad Ali and friends had nothing to do but hide their faces. As the credits rolled Ash, Abhishek and Preity cheered aloud but Lara and Bobby kept their dignity by being sober. Hmm…sounds like daddy Amitabh didn’t give any tips on humility to his son and daughter-in-law.
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom- tale of a wig!
It looks like Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was full of disastrous episodes. This one is about Lara Dutta: During the shoot of ‘Ticket To Hollywood’ when Lara and Abhishek were doing one of those ‘Swing-your-neck’ moves on the Eiffel Tower, when suddenly Lara’s prized burgundy-streaked wig came off into Abhishek’s hands…oops!
“It was quite hilarious as the wig came off in front of the entire public before the Eiffel Tower,” says Lara in a quite embarrassed tone. And all thiswith all the due precautions that Lara had taken while fixing the wig. But our hero sprung into action before the scene could get further embarrassing. “Abhishek quickly grabbed the wig and I put it away, before too many people could realize what was going on,” adds Lara…ah, Abhishek the savior!
Double treat with Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
When it comes to promote their films, Yash Raj Flms do their best and of course promisingly innovative. As the crowd gets eager to see Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, YRF is ready with to promote its next “Chak De India” starring SRK and nearly 16 new girls. This time around the idea is to show a 5 ½ minute music video of Chak De between the screening of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
“A special Chak De India music video will feature Shah Rukh Khan and the girls of the hockey team during the show of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Shah Rukh will be introducing the girls”, said Monika Bhattacharya, spokesperson for Yash Raj Films. It is obvious that the movie will offer a double dhamaka for the audience. No wonder YRF has grown as a tower for people in business in Bollywood!
Preity Zinta faces high spirits on the sets of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom
High spirited Preity Zinta had some high spirited stilettos and some mismanaged dance steps of costars to manage. The story as put forward by a source is:
“We were filming this particular portion. The ladies were in full swing and suddenly Preity screamed in pain. She was bleeding. Of course, Lara’s killer stilettos were to be blamed. But it was an accident and they had good laugh over it the next day.”
Sure one can trust Preity to take matters light when it wasn’t intentional.
“I was dancing and suddenly I felt this piercing pain in my foot and I looked down. Lara’s 5 inch heel made a hole in my foot and I went aaahhhhhhhh. And then just when I was just recovering, Bobby’s Punjab da haath landed on my face. I remember seeing stars, planes, trains and submarines at the same time!”
oohh…that has to have some heavy metal to bear. Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant sums the eventful scenes for us, “Our song sequences were quite eventful. People were tripping and hurting themselves almost every day. Preity had cuts on her feet at the end of the schedule.” Now you know why the songs in JBJ are so high spirited!

Dharmendra and Amitabh or Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan
What do u think of the two pictures? Like Fathers like sons? Well, it was planned to look similar. While Shaad Ali was preparing for a scene featuring Bobby Deol and Abhishek Bachchan, someone came up with this idea of using the similar kind of a scooter that was used in Sholay for dads Dhamendra and Amitabh in the song ‘Yeh Dosti’. The idea was appreciated and also executed. And here’s the result…But don’t you think the chemistry is missing. Well…I think so. Bobby is all sweet and sound about the film and the scene, “I think Abhishek was a bit scared because I was riding the bike. I am not a person who would ride a bike, so I guess he felt that his life was in danger. I am looking forward to Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. The music has already created a sensation. Working with Abhishek and other member from the cast and crew was mind-blowing.” Let us see how well they jell together. Will they ever be remembered as Jay and Veru were?
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Unfair to Bobby Doel
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is sure marking the great entry of Bobby Deol into the Yash Raj Camp but the atmosphere during the shoot wasn’t quite favorable for Bobby. Recently in his interview Bobby said, “I don’t remember having any fun on the sets while shooting for ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’.”
And why didn’t the Deol Jr. have any fun is all because of his co-star Abhishek Bachchan and Preity Zinta. A source from the film unit said “Abhishek and Preity sidelined and ignored Bobby completely, so caught up were they in their own private masti.”
Wonder what went wrong- Abhishek knew Bobby since childhood and Pretiy co-stared Deol in Soldier and were heard to be quite a team. So all that remains to decipher for this indifference is, I Guess, the new found fame that has gotten into the stars’ head. But Bobby was well behaved and maintained a quiet dignity. Well, that is not right on Preity and Abhishek’s part! Let us who walks out with all the fame when JBJ releases on the 15th June.
