IIFA winner…. Once again, it was Shahrukh vs Salman!!
IIFA 2011 saw Salman Khan’s blockbuster Dabangg taking away six awards, including the best picture award. However, the king of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan won the best actor award for his performance in My Name Is Khan.
Anushka Sharma won the best actress award for Band Baaja Baaraat and co-star Ranveer Singh won the award for Best Debut Male. Together they won the award for the hottest pair.
Sonakshi Sinha won the award for best debut female. Other awards received by the Dabangg cast and crew are — best screenplay went to Abhinav Kahsyap and Dileep Shukla, best music direction went to Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit, best female playback singer went to Mamta Sharma for her song “Munni Badnaam”, best male playback singer went to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for “Tere Mast Mast Do Nain” and rounding up the list is Sonu Sood who received the award for best performance in a negative role.
Sharmila Tagore and Dharmendra (who has not completed 50 years as an actor) were presented with outstanding achievement awards. Other big winners were Karan Johar – best director award for My Name Is Khan, Arjun Rampal best supporting actor for Rajneeti , Prachi Desai – best supporting actress for Once upon a time in Mumbaai.
The entertaining hosts for the evening were Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh, who had plenty of comedy gags. Riteish was also an award winner, winning the award for best comic role for Housefull.

Aishwarya Rai goes traditional on the red carpet at Cannes
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan attends “Outrage” Premiere at the Palais des Festivals during the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France.
Aishwarys Rai has often been criticised for favouring western couture over Indian ensembles during her much publicised stints on the French Riviera but this time, the Bachan Bahu will be seen in a traditional outfit for Raavan’s launch at Cannes.
“Aishwarya is in Cannes for L’Oreal every year as part of the International Dream Team of L’Oreal where on instruction she must wear international western designer wear,”
the actress’ spokesperson said.
“This time since the Raavan red carpet is also an occasion, Aishwarya will be wearing an Indian outfit for that which she had already planned,” added the spokesperson.
The Bollywood actress, who is one of the best known Indian faces across the globe, will wear a creation by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She had earlier chosen a sari by the same designer for her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
“I have given her many outfits for her stint at Cannes this year because she wanted to wear something Indian this time but I am not sure which dress will she be wearing,” Sabyasachi told.
So far Deepika Padukone is the only Indian celebrity to take the six yard route to style at this year’s festival.
She stepped out on the red carpet for the premiere of the film The Tournee in a cream and gold Rohit Bal creation which she teamed with Kundan jewelery and a stone studded clutch.

Ah what a start studded extravaganza it turned out to be- IIFA 2007 Yorkshire!
Hrithik got the best actor and also the most glamorous male award at the grand function. Aishwarya took the most glamorous female award. Dharmendra was given the Life Time achievement award. Big B and Small B danced together. The Yorkshire government presented the Big B with the traditional Shepard’s Staff. Saif bagged the best actor in the Negative Role for Omkara. RDB swept away many awards including best film. Munnabhai got the best dialogue award and none other than Circuit (Arshad Warsi) got the best Supporting actor for the same film. Enjoy the pics:
IIFA 2007 is here
It is raining stars in Yorkshire for this year’s International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards. The awards was officially started in 2000 in London and has gone places after that. It is considered to be the most awaited Bollywood gathering. This five-day weekend awards celebration is expected to attract 28,000 visitors and will be broadcast to a global audience of nearly 500 million in 110 countries. And needless to mention that the event is our Bollywood stars’ favorite!
