“All the styling aids and chemical products I use through the course of the day is bound to take a toll on my hair. And then of course, there are the usual problems of pollution and stress, which just damages my hair further,” Sonakshi said in a statement.

The 25-year-old says she has tried using other hair oils, but in vain.

“I’ve tried oiling my hair regularly, but that still doesn’t seem enough to counter all the ill effects suffered by my hair on a daily basis. That’s when I discovered Vatika Enriched Coconut Hair Oil; it was actually recommended to me by my stylist,” she added.

Now she feels her hair looks “simply awesome” thanks to the product, which is said to be a pure coconut oil enriched with eight additional herbs like henna, amla, lemon and neem.

The brand also announced southern superstar Samantha Prabhu as its ambassador for south Indian markets.

The two not only enjoy each other’s company but also look quite comfortable with each other after parting ways.

“I don’t know whether I will have my own kids or not but she (Deepika Padukone) will definitely have. So I would love to be her children’s godfather, but I don’t know whether she or her husband will allow me but it will be nice to mentor her children,” Ranbir said

It’ is after five years that Ranbir and Deepika will be seen together on screen. They last featured together in “Bachna Ae Haseeno”.

Aishwarya Rai, who has been a regular at Cannes for 11 years, didn’t go for the Indian look but was panned for her choice of clothes and hair.

The display seemed surprising, considering that well-known designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Anamika Khanna and Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla were helping the stars put their best foot forward at the Cannes International Film Festival, which began May 15 and ends May 26.

Vidya was part of the jury at the Cannes extravaganza, where India was the guest country this year. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Ang Lee, Christopher Waltz and Nicole Kidman at the gala, Vidya looked sophisticated in a maroon and black lehenga-choli, but thereafter, her fashion choices only earned her brickbats.

If one day she wore an elaborate nose ring, on another she chose an ivory ensemble complete with a white dupatta on her head, prompting women back home to ask just what image of India she wanted to project.

Mukherjee said the idea was to dress her in “little embellishments” and to give her “a purist ethnic” look.

Even though the traditional suits Vidya, most of her looks at Cannes, barring one – a simple brown sari with a maroon blouse – failed to impress, say stylists.

“Vidya played safe by going traditional as it has always worked for her. What she had picked up was really good but badly styled. The choice of nose ring and the use of dupatta on the head were not required,” said fashion stylist Shane Lonen, who has worked with actresses like Sonakshi Sinha, Karisma Kapoor and Prachi Desai.

Another actress, Sonam, considered a fashion diva back home, seemed to have gone overboard too – be it with her stylised sari teamed with a full-sleeved jacket, oversized nose ring or bold eye makeup. She made it up later with a voluminous floral Dolce and Gabbana off-shoulder gown.

“Sonam has mostly been a delight to watch in all appearances, but not in Cannes. She went overboard with her efforts to keep her style quotient unique and high. Had she worn the sari as a standalone, minus her eye makeup and over-indigenous nose ring, she would have been endearing enough,” fashion stylist Saachi Vijaywargia told IANS.

Aishwarya, said Cannes watchers, has improved in her choice of red carpet ensembles over the years. This year she played it safe with either black or a heavily embellished full-sleeved multi-pastel coloured ensemble by Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla, but she could have done with some more colour.

“I definitely think a dash of colour would’ve been nice for Aishwarya’s look,” said fashion stylist Nikita Rijhsinghani. The actress slipped into a metallic blue gown one day, but she didn’t leave a black clutch behind.

Some of India’s past representatives at Cannes have been subtle and simple in their fashion picks. Nandita Das and Sharmila Tagore before her have managed to turn heads with their simple, elegant saris and classic pieces of jewellery, also representing the country’s ethnic tradition very well.

Designer Amit GT feels black and white are “outdated” colours, but they were a hit with the Indian actors this year. “Kamasutra 3D” actress Sherlyn Chopra went for a daring transparent black ensemble, and Mallika Sherawat opted for a black gown on one day of the event.

Rijhsinghani gave a thumbs down to Sherlyn, and said: “There are a million and one looks to look sensuous! Kill the transparency for starters! Sherlyn just needs to hire a stylist with better sensibilities and may be get a new mirror too.”

Sensuous can mean more than just showing skin, says Lonen.

“Sensuous and sexy don’t mean going out and revealing your skin. With the kind of body she has, she can easily pull out a look like that, or even a classy Dior gown with good eye makeup would do justice,” he said.

Mallika also went all wrong with her blingy gold dress, says Amit GT, who felt the look was “most cringeworthy”.

While in the former, she is paired opposite producer Kumar S. Taurani’s son Girish Kumar, in “D-Day”, she will be seen with actors like Arjun Rampal, Rishi Kaporr, Irrfan and Huma Qureshi.

“That time I was like, ‘God, why is it happening with me?’ But having said that, I like to multi-task and at the end of the day, I feel if you have taken on a certain responsibility, you should shoulder it,” she said.

Meanwhile, Preity, who also plays the main lead in the film, says the film is very contemporary and identifiable.

“‘Ishkq in Paris’ is an identifiable film. It does not challenge your intelligence. It is coming out in 2013 and has the persona of today’s people,” she said.

“I am hoping to direct a movie by the end of the year. I have a producer on board. I am casting for it at the moment,” Kunal told IANS.

Kunal said the film falls in the genre of a dark comedy, and that it will go on floors as soon as the cast is finalised.

“I can’t say too much about it. It is a sort of comedy and a social satire. I hope people enjoy it. I am still on the look out for my leading man,” he said.

Kunal, who was seen as an actor in “Delhi Belly”, earlier went behind the camera for 2009 film “The President is Coming”.

On the acting front, Kunal will be seen in “Golu and Pappu in the House”. He features in it with Vir Das.

“We finished shooting the film quite a while ago. The project has been ready for release and it will release sometime this year,” he said.

Kunal said it is a “family entertainer”, and added: “Kids and families will enjoy it. It is a comedy. It was a fun experience working with Vir again (after ‘Delhi Belly’). So really looking forward to it,” he said.

The film is directed by Kabir Sadanand.

Karishma, who is 5 feet 8 inches tall is just only few inches shorter than Vivek, who is 5 feet 10 inches. With high heels, Karishma looked much taller! So, director Indra Kumar and producer Ashok Thakeria ensured she wore flats throughout her scenes with him.

“We had to ban Karishma from wearing heels as she ended up looking taller than everyone, including her own co-star Vivek! Induji and Ashok Thakeriaji convinced her to get styled with flat shoes instead and she very sportingly agreed with a smile,” said a source.

“Grand Masti” is a sequel to 2004 movie “Masti”. It also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani in lead roles.
