Ra.One not a success; forget being a hit!

Shahrukh Khan’s Ra.One must have earned a lot in cash. However, the film hasn’t yet been declared a hit.

‘Ra.One’ distributors claim that the flick has been made with a huge sum of Rs. 150 crore and that the film having earned over Rs. 170 crore at the BO, it is not a hit yet.

While talking to a daily, a prominent trade analyst said, “Ra.One is not at all a success; forget being a hit. Those who have bought the film are going to lose money. The figures have started going down and if this continues, it’ll be difficult to match even the Rs. 100 crore figure.”

If we compare Salman Khan’s Bodyguard and SRK’s Ra.One, it is clear that Bodyguard has earned superbly and much more than Ra.One, since Bodyguard was made at one-third the price of ‘Ra.One’, and it didn’t even have a 3D version too. Though ‘Ra.One’, surpassed the first two-day collection of Bodyguard, Bodyguard is a superhit, considering the above.

Bodyguard is Number 2

Bodyguard is Number 2

Which actor can compete with Salman Khan nowadays? Before answering the question, let us look at a tid-bit. We reported a couple of weeks ago that the collections of Bodyguard were just behind Dabanng’s Rs.147 crores putting Bodyguard in the third place. But now, Bodyguard has netted an overall collection of Rs.150 crores. This sends ‘Salman’s Dabanng’ to the third place and puts ‘Salman’s Bodyguard’ in the second place. I guess now, we have the answer to the question now – it’s got to be Salman himself.

With each film of his, Salman is proving a point to the other superstars of Bollywood. While Salman’s had three releases between Eid 2010 and Eid 2011, the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan and neither the ‘perfectionist’ Aamir Khan have had a single release. And mind you, Salman’s three releases within the year have raked in all the moolah and turned out to be blockbuster hits. No looking back for Sallu bhai at the moment, except for his facial nerve pain.

John is the ‘Force’ to Reckon With Now

John Abraham – the super hunk and the super model turned actor. It’s been eight year that John Abraham has tuned an actor. But to date, there was not one film where his acting skills were appreciated, neither by the critics not the masses. But, John’s just kept weathering the storm finally people are beginning to reckon his ‘Force’. Yes, John’s film Force, that was released yesterday has received a positive response countrywide and John’s acting has been well appreciated by both the masses and critics, for the first time in his career maybe.

Given the fact that John is the ‘sole force’ in Force, and the film running to packed houses in both urban and rural India, John can also now join the league of big heroes.

While all is hail and hearty with the unit of Force, things are just not looking good for team ‘Mausam’. In fact, Cinemax has replaced Mausam, their evening show with Force, and it was a ‘Sold Out’. Looks like Shahid’s got a lot to worry about, given the fate of his film and the growing competition.

Bodyguard Breaks Dabanng’s Record

Bodyguard Breaks Dabanng’s Record

It just can’t get any better for our ‘Sallu Bhai’. Post Wanted, Salman has been on a never before career high delivering 4 successive, not just hits but blockbusters to date. While Wanted saw the return of Salman to form, Dabanng just established the massive image of this fearless star and Ready raked in the all the required moolah to make the producers of the film only ‘happy-happier and happiest’. If that was not enough for 2011, Salman arrived on Eid with his latest offering Bodyguard, which according to latest reports has broken the records of Dabanng as far as collections are concerned.

While the exact figure is yet to be known, Bodyguard apparently has surpassed the 140 crore mark that was set by Dabanng last year thanks to the 9 crore collection in its third week. This makes Bodyguard the second highest grosser in the history of Bollywood, with the first, of course as you all know being ’3 idiots’.

Now, Ek Tha Tiger, Dabanng-2 and Sher Khan (in 3-D) are only just going to get bigger and better. Keep it coming Sallu Bhai, and wish you a speedy recovery.
