Arjun Rampal turns 37 today. He is just seven years old in the industry and with the success of Rock On and The Last Lear, Arjun has proved that he is not only the most good looking man in Bollywood but also a wonderful actor now.
Rampal was discovered by designer Rohit Bal at a discotheque in Delhi and that kick started his modelling career. He was launched by Rajiv Rai in Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in 2001.
In the past seven years he has done 22 movies out of which for Rock On and The Last Lear he got critical acclaim for his performances.
He’s had a rocking year so far and we wish him the same for the rest of his life.
Arjun Rampal is on cloud nine now. His last few films, although were multi-starrers but were his most commercially successful films.Arjun confessed that he wasn’t too keen on playing the baddie in Om Shanti Om. But Apparently on New Year’s eve SRK and Farah dragged him into the bathroom and told him about his role. Arjun wondered what impact the negative role may have on his kids. And when SRK assuringly said -
“Do this one film for yourself. You’ll do plenty for your kids!”
Arjun then went ahead with the role and now he is all smiles about his success. Not only Farah and Shahrukh are fond of Arjun but Farhan Akhtar is a huge fan of him too.
Actually Farhan had Arjun in mind for his movie Lakshya. “I’d earlier wanted him for a role in Lakshya, but he’d been busy. I’d seen him with his kids on holiday and thought he could draw on that for the character,” says Farhan.
Farhan then cast him in his remake of Don in Prans role which Arjun agreed to do only on the condition saying “As long as you don’t put me in spandex and make me walk the tightrope”.
Well from Don on, Arjun has been plainly lucky… His last film ‘The Last Lear’ is said to be his best performance till date.
Finally Arjun has proved that he is much more than an amazingly good look guy.

Much before the movie has hit the theatres, The Last Lear has become the talk of the town. The critics, across the world, have said that this movie is by far Amitabh Bachchan’s best movie as an actor. Arjun Rampal and Preity Zinta have also come of age with their performances in the movie.
The film is directed by Rituparno Ghosh and it is said to be based on Utpal Dutt’s play Aajker Shahjahan. According to Ghosh, “The Last Lear is the first attempt to take Shakespeare away from the colonial context and place it in an indigenous Indian context and actually transpose it to a film unit.”
The Last Lear is the story of Harish Mishra aka Harry played by Amitabh Bachchan an eccentric actor who is brought out of his self imposed retirement by the stubborn director Siddharth (Arjun Rampal) for one last glorious performance.
Harry, however, being a theatre actor detests the cinema. He thinks its an apology in the name of art. When Siddharth finally convinces Harry to work in his film, Harry emerses himself completely in the movie and loves every bit of the film’s making. He meets on the sets, Shabnam (Preity zinta) an upcoming actress and teaches her the nuances of acting.
This movie also happens to be Amitabh Bachchan’s first English movie and it is bound to take his international fan following higher than ever by breaking the language barriers.
Cant wait to see this movie… sounds refreshing compared to all the usual Bollywood Fare!
Arjun Rampal looks like a true rockstar in his upcoming flick Rock On, and the hot actor has left no stone unturned to get into the character of a rockstar. Apparently he specially learnt to play guitar for the movie.
Arjun Rampal says, “I never could play the guitar. I learnt it for this movie. I always did want to because the closest I got into playing and doing live performances were on my tennis racket in front of the mirror.”
