AR Rahman’s Dream Come True

ar rahman (425).jpg

AR Rahman took over the Golden Globes and now he will sweep away all the coveted titles at the Oscars.

“What can I say? It’s a dream come true not so much for me as my wife. She’d wake up in the middle of the night and say, ‘I want you to win an Oscar’. And I’d just smile. Today my wife’s dream seems a possibility,” Rahman said.

“But I don’t want to get too hopeful,” he quickly added. “Let’s just rejoice for the nomination at the moment. I’m happy not just for myself but Gulzar sahab who has been nominated for the lyrics of Jai ho. I wish Javed sahab had got nominated too. If he had written a song in Slumdog Millionaire I’m sure he too would’ve been nominated,” the music director said.

“My wife and children jumped with joy when they heard the announcement. And my mother is also here with me. It’s all her prayers and support and her upbringing that’s bearing fruit now,” he said.

You deserve every bit of this Rahman… Jai Ho!

Ghajini Music Review

Aamir khan Ghajini New wallpaper (2)1.jpg

Ghajini’s music album has been finally released. Couldn’t wait to hear the full version of Guzarish when I saw its trailer with Aamir Khan looking his best with his six-pack abs and chiseled chest singing in the middle of the desert.

As expected Ghajini’s music is good. It is similar to A.R Rahman’s recent compositions like Taare Zameen Par, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Yuvvraaj and Adah. The lyrics were penned down by Prasoon Joshi, as in Taare Zameen Par and an obvious influence of Gulzar sahab’s imagery and lyrical style is seen.

The first song of the album called Guzarish is an extremely romantic number. Javed Ali as a vocalist offers a new fresh feel to the song. While we have Sonu Nigam humming in the background.

The second song is Kaise Mujhe a rythmic number with soul-touching lyrics with Benny Dayal and Shreya Goshal singing the great composition to perfection. This is one song you would feel like dedicating your soul-mate.

Aye Bachchoo sounds wierd out of the context of the film. It rather comes as a shock after the soulful Kaise Mujhe.

Latoo brings forth Shreya Goshal’s versatility as a singer who sing all kinds of songs with great ease and perfection. This song has a gentle mix of hip hop and soft music. Its a foot tapping and a jazzy track.

The last song is Behka which is more appealing visually with Aamir Khan in six different avataar. Its an average song otherwise.

On the whole Ghajini’s music album offers you refreshing and entertaining film music that will grow on you eventually as you keep hearing it.

Its a must buy.

A.R Rahman on a new Talent Hunt for Musical Bands

ar.jpgIt is the Era of Talent Hunts and Star Voice of India is all set to choose the talent of India but only individual. Here is something for all you bands out there who have formed groups dedicated to music. The hunt is for the best music band and is conducted by our world music genius A.R Rahman and actor-singer Vasundhara Das. As an answer to the all the famous talent hunts that restricted themselves to North of India, this particular talent hunt is exclusive for the bands in South India. Once the hunt becomes popular it will be extended to the whole of India. And both Rahman and Vasundhara Das have reasons for this southern specific bend. “I could say that Chennai is the cultural capital of India, in Carnatic music and so many other things. So being in the South and being launched from here is very important,” says Rahman. “I’ve grown up in Bangalore and I can see what comes out of the city. It’s just huge, the potential. There are so many people and so many different forms of music playing for underground audiences who don’t listen to mainstream music,” adds Vasundhara. So let us see how this talent hunt with a difference, changes the trend. Get ready southerners with your Musical Band, Rahman is on his way.
