‘Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay’ + Abhishekh Bachchan – Shreyas Talpade = ???

Looks like Ram Gopal Varma has learnt to live and sustain himself in Bollywood against all odds now! His ‘Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay’ is being criticized by one and all after his declaration of Nisha Kothari as Ghungroo aka Basanti…

With the Sippy camp trying every rule of the book to suppress the film, Ramuji seems to steer clear of every iceberg huh! Hope his ship meets the shore… coz indeed it would be fascinating to watch the greatest commercial success from the eye of the uncrowned king of directors!!!
big_b_sholay_470_2.gif
The latest addition to the camp is Abhishekh Bachchan, who’ll join daddy – the several times crowned king of actors – and Urmila Matondkar for the new age ‘Mehbooba-O-mehbooba’ number… but surprisingly, Shreyas Talpade (the behrupiya in DOR) has refused to play a cameo in it… remember the small, but important character Sachin played???

He says that doing such small cameos isn’t suitable for his career at this stage… well buddy… Sachin had two major hits to his credit as solo hero when he jumped for that role in the original… moreover, learn some thing from Abhishekh Bachchan. He got successful only through cameos… didn’t you baby AB??? :P

DHOOM 2 story revealed!!!

So guys… the huge argument over DON continues… there are people who consider Amitabh Bachchan to be gold, but ShahRukh Khan to be diamond (hats off to the comparison though :P ) and there was this very intelligent man who clearly observed that SRK couldn’t live up to the transition of characters from Vijay to Don and vice versa (I second that!)… But guys, have we forgotten that it’s the DHOOM 2 mania that should be enveloping us now???

28

Well, it has been certainly weaving its magic on me and I’ve somehow managed to get a sneak peak into the film… had to coax a cousin of one of the assistant editor’s of the flick, but here goes the storyline exclusively for you……..

32

Dhoom showed Kabir (John Abraham) jumping off a cliff on his bike… but was he shown dead??? NOPES! Got the hint??? Ab kutte ki dum tedhi ki tedhi hi rahegi na…. who can be a better villain for the Jai Dixit (Abhishekh Bachchan) and Ali (my favorite Uday Chopra) than Kabir himself??? ;)

Aryan (HRITHIK ROSHAN!!!!) is full of vengeance (any guesses why??? :P )… and he is bigger and better than Kabir… bigger robberies, higher jumps, a more gripping storyline and performances… and MUCH more money at stake with this sequel….

29 Bipasha Basu plays Abhishek’s deputy and as expected, Uday Chopra falls for her in no time… the rumor that’s doing the rounds is that Aishwarya Rai is actually an under cover cop but eventually does fall for Hrithik…

You angry at me for revealing the story??? Then let me tell you guys that this is just the tip of the ice-berg… there’s lots more to come our way… you can also expect to see John come and go in some flash back sequences…

And as for Esha Deol and Rimii Sen, Dhoom was an experiment with four failures which co incidentally turned out to be a success… but DHOOM 2 had success written all over it since the day it was conceptualized!!! And PLUS, when 90 crores are at stake, then there’s absolutely no room for failures people…

DHOOM MACHAALEEEEE………

RGV confuses you totally in his ‘Ram Gopal Varma Ke SHOLAY’

Bhai log… bole to apne bheje ki waat lag raheli hai! Saala samajh mein nahin aa rahela hai ki yeh HO kya rahaa hai… Radha ko Devi banaa daala… Basanti ko Ghungroo banaa daala… aur Ramgarh ko Mumbai banaa daala!!!!!

27

Can’t make head or tail out of what you just read??? Well guys, it was just the perpetually inquisitive and confused me… and this time, it’s Ram Gopal Varma to blame for this state of mine… His version of Sholay is so damn Hat ke yaar!

He makes it clear to one and all that “If Allah, Jesus Christ and Vaishno Devi come together to plead against my doing Sholay, I’d still be making it.”

You surely don’t need a more boisterous comment than that, do you??? And to top it all, he’s chosen his favorite Nisha Kothari to play Basanti’s character… but to avoid the unavoidable comparison between her and Hema Malini, he’s renamed the character as Ghungroo!!! She’s the only female auto rickshaw driver of Mumbai in the city and her vehicle is definitely an art director’s nightmare…

Knowing Ramu’s knack of extracting work (read forcing it out :P ) and eye for uniqueness, we better gear up for some amazing action sequences, while his production unit pull up their socks for some ass kicking shooting schedules :P

Ram Gopal Varma – Sex Haazir Ho!!!

Sounds weird, doesn’t it? Well that’s what Ram Gopal Varma’s nest film will be… ‘Sex Haazir Ho’!!! The man who’s busy making the highly awaited and anticipated ‘Ram Gopal Varma ke Sholay’ has already decided upon the film he’s going to do after RGVKS hits the theatres… and he’s once again teaming up with the controversial production house of PNC.

22

However provocative or controversial the title may seem, RGV makes it clear that he’s not gone insane and is NOT making a porn film… he says the project is based on the sexual hypocrisy rampant in the Indian society… needless to say, it’ll have a lot of censorship bashing too… wonder what certificate will it get from the biggest hypocrites of the country???

P.S. that was the censor board I was talking about (duh!)

DON ki sabse badi galti yahi hai – ki woh DON ka remake hai!!!

Oki people… thanks for flooding us with your comments for my reviews on DON… you need to see them to believe them… and the vast differences in them was the most amazing factor…. there were people who said that SRK was brilliant in the movie and did full justice to the character… and on the other side, this girl actually wanted to be paid for bearing with the SFX bonanza!!!

21 Guys guys guys (and girls :P )… both the films (the original and the remake) had their own pros and cons… I mean, there were hundreds of technical errors in the 1978 version of the story which were accepted without a blink of an eye lid that time because of the limitations of that age … but the acting talent and screenplay were mind blowing, making the film accepted with open hearts and arms by the audiences!

Whereas in today’s time, we have a galore of technologies and ways to create a painting on celluloid… the cinematography and costumes were par excellence in the newer version… leaving hardly any place for an error or complaint… but it would take a miracle to recreate the charisma of Amitabh Bachchan as Don or the larger than life screenplay by Salim-Javed (except the lifted dialogues ;) )…

19 SRK looks so artificial and made up as DON but isn’t it the way he’s always been??? C’mon people… you’ve watched and applauded him in ‘Duplicate’, ‘Ram Jaane’, ‘Josh’ etc etc… They looked so totally made up! But you must appreciate him for maintaining the bearing of those made up characters throughout the movie…. just the way the suave and stylish Don came easy to Amitabh Bachchan, so did the made up Don to ShahRukh !!!

So in short… watch both of them and enjoy them for their own fortes!!!! Kya bolte bhai log?????????

Don ko phir se banana mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai!!!

Farhan Akhtar must have taken a leaf out Sanjay Leela Bhansali to script this film. Why? Well Bimal Roy’s Devdas was too simple and he made the audience connect to Devdas easily. And to avoid this Sanjay choose a GRAND setting, larger than life background to make his movie.

Same is the case with DON (2006).

Screenplay and Direction: Farhan Akhtar Chandra Barot’s Don was stylish, and screenplay driven. But when you are making a remake (and that too of a film like DON) you can hardly break free out of it, no matter how much you change the finer elements. So Farhan Akhtar uses SFX, John Wooish (Mission Impossible) and Warchoskish (The Matrix) style of chases and fights.

13 And the good thing is that it works. It not only works, this film puts you at the edge of your seats, because – you know the story, you know there will be surprise and yet the surprise works for you (like it does with many Lost and Found stories in Indian Cinema – Amar Akbar Anthony, Chalbaaz, Sita Aur Gita). And not just that, the surprise is too hot… you will ask yourself “How did he do that”.

And that’s why I think Farhan Akhtar Rocks. Yep the film is too long, but you will only feel it when the not so good songs are playing.

Cinematography: Mohanan Excellent. Just Excellent. In Dil Chahta Hai, it was Ravi K Chandran and here is a new find Mohanan. Why don’t others find good technicians yaar? The skyjumping scenes, the lighting when Don re-enters, they work wonders for you, and go nicely with the screenplay.

Music: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy: Disappointing. Yep. Probably the trio have been dwelling too much with Karan Johar, they end up disappointing. Or may be the hype and the pressure of Don got to them. Except the tunes from the old one, the others fail to impress.

Dialogue: Farhan Akhtar & Salim Khan: I don’t know if he is the same guy from the famous Javed & Salim team, but for me the dialogues could have been punchier. Or this is the comparison in me talking. Except when you are taken completely by surprise by the story, the dialogue is just sufficient.

14 Art & Production: I’m not sure of the names, but who ever it was, executed it nicely. Not just that, the gadgets used, the whole feel of the movie, the fight scenes, the special effects, even the china, everything is so hi-fi, you only wonder why Farhan had to choose an old tale tell.

Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Esha Koppikar, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Om Puri, Chunkey Pandey, Arjun Rampal. Well after seeing the cast, you know who does what and how.

Shahrukh excels as Don, but much better you don’t compare him to Amitabh Bachan (You know who hams and who doesn’t). About the Pepsi girls, lets not talk. Esha Koppikar actually does good. After all she has been in the “company” of “Factory” guys.

Om Puri does best with whatever screen time he has and Boman Irani… Oh my God. He is too good. Forget Munnabhai(s) he will have more films in his bag now.

Don is not “Oh!Great Film”. But it is a very good action film, as long as you won’t compare it to the original one. And if you want to make comparisons, well you can and you will;but, you won’t realize you are in for a surprise.

DON – Movie review

“I am the KING”
You must have heard ShahRukh Khan say this hundreds of times… but you need to see DON to believe those lines!

Don 2 Bollywood

When I sat in the hall (my neck still paining due to sitting in the first row of an IMAX! ) I had this thought that SRK will never be able to play Don the? way the legendary Amitabh Bachchan did… and I was proved quite right…
ShahRukh could not be the suave, composed and all supreme Don who did things with such exuberance that made the impossible seem possible… He could not portray arrogance in a subtle manner, but created his own mannerisms (as usual)!
With the help of the typical SRK addititives and mind boggling screenplay, editing, storyline, SFX etc etc provided by Farhan Akhtar, he’s made DON be more mean, menacing, cunning and unpredictable than ever!!!
Though there isn’t much of scope for the ‘pan’aholic Vijay, SRK knows how to draw the distinct line between Don and Vijay… and also blend the latter into the former as the storyline progresses…

Coming to the other characters… Akhtar Jr. hasn’t given enough justice to many of them in this ever so stylish venture…
The DCP D’Silva played by Boman Irani is definitely the most balanced dude in the camp… wonder what he does to get into the skin of his role, but he manages to give in a 100% to every shade of it (even the manipulative part ;) )

9Sadly, the girls and the main villain of last time haven’t been given much of a chance to perform…
Poor Interpol officer Mallik (Om Puri) doesn’t get much of screen presence and neither does Don’s girlfriend Anita (Ishaa Kopikar)… Roma (Priyanka Chopra) is as sizzling as ever… though she’s made to look more glamorous than vindictive and ferocious “Junglee Billi” … Kareena Kapoor too was nothing more than an item no.!

Maintaining balance was the key out here… balance between Don and Vijay. Balance between the old and the new DON. Balance between Vardhaan and……… nah guys! We ain’t letting the kity out of the bag… a Vardhaan does exist in this one too… and is portrayed with outmost BALANCE!

Talking about the most unique feature of any masala Bollywood film – the music! Don’s music fails to impress… though the background score is amazing, but the remixed songs don’t leave much of an impact! Even the “khai ke pan banaras wala” no. doesn’t have the rusticity in it! Wonder what Shankar Ehsaan and Loy were thinking when they included two new songs(read duds) like ‘moriya re’ and ‘aaj ki raat’ in an album like DON???

The original storyline has been followed and the director has actually been able to relate the audience to the original seamlessly… though at times, the editing and scene change doesn’t justify the continuity of the story, you still are ready to believe all they say coz they say it with such style!!!
The vision of Farhan Akhtar has definitely taken the concept and screenplay to a greater level in this creation of his… Kudos to the young man for that…
Our verdict — ‘DON’t miss it!!! And ‘DON’t get up from your seat before the final credits… the final scene will automatically make you jump up in surprise … just the way I did!!!
P.S. do remember, Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai (if you know what I mean ;) )!!!

ShahRukh Khan – there’s more than DON coming our way!!!

“Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahin, namumkin hai!“ was and still is one of the most famous line that’s come out of Amitabh Bachchan’s mouth… and for all you know, ShahRukh Khan might just prove him right by making him the uncaught thief forever in his venture – DON 2!

8 Don’t blink your eyes in disbelief guys… the plans of making a sequel to the forthcoming flick DON are already doing the rounds… the dude most interested in producing it is SRK himself!!! “I suggested the idea to Farhan since Don is never captured, if the audiences like it, let’s do another Don, and if they don’t like it, we can put Don behind bars.” Says the excited star who has all hopes pinned on DON for his comeback…

One question – do you think King Khan had gone anywhere??? He still rules our hearts, right?

Amitabh Bachchan still collecting awards and honors!

Is he a man? Or is he a Super man!!!! Just when you thought that Amitabh Bachchan was bestowed with all the awards and honors possible for an Indian actor, the French Embassy thought otherwise…

The French Government has officially announced that it’s going to confer the highest civilian honor – the legion d’honneur – on the big B! None other than the French president Jacques Chirac himself has decided to bestow the honor on him and has instructed the French ambassador to carry out the proceedings…

2

The a French ambassador has announced the honor as a tribute to his ‘exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond,’ and will speak to Bachchan Sr. to fix a date for the ceremony, in which he’ll be bestowed the honor personally!

Wonder where he stacks all those numerous awards he keeps getting every year huh!

The big day for Amitabh, ShahRukh and Salman…

sharukh_amitabh_salman.jpg

I don’t remember there being a more ‘event’ful day in Bollywood over the past few days… You remember what all was lined up for today, don’t you? Well for those who don’t, then it’s Amitabh Bachchan’s HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!! Though the birthday isn’t all that happy because of his mother’s illness, but the ‘angry young man’ of the industry has just turned 65!!!

Though there isn’t a strand of gray hair on his head (wonder how many times does he dye his hair in a week!), age is taking its toll on AB Sr.

With the serious illness that loomed on his head last year this time, the whole country had mourned and prayed for him… and this year, we pray for his mom’s health… she’s supposed to be in a critical condition and is currently hospitalized…

Though the 65-year-old man might not celebrate today, the two Khans will! You guessed it right people.. It’s ShahRukh and Salman Khan eating into each other’s celebrations as SRK celebrates the launch of his book ‘SRK – Still Reading Khan’ and Salman dances away to glory in the Jaaneman bash!!!

So you keep refreshing this page as we get you the happenings of tonight’s party scene @ Mumbai ……

ShahRukh Khan trying to stub Jaaneman !!!

We all know that King Khan is getting more spoilt by the day and with the rising levels of his insecurity, is trying to stub anyone and everyone who comes his way … and after Abhishekh Bachchan, it’s the producers of ‘Jaanemann’.

don-still.jpgHe’s been quite upset since the release of his forthcoming film DON was announced to coincide with the release of the Salman Khan & Akshay Kumar starrer… and he’s just taken the Khan rivalry a step further…

ShahRukh Khan announced the release bash of the book ‘SRK – Still Reading Khan’ on the same day as the ‘Jaanemann’ pre-release bash – 11th October! Though the writer of the book, Mustak Sheikh, confirmed that the date was chosen ONLY due to unavailability of a 5 star hotel on any other day for the year, the rest of the industry thinks otherwise …

What do you think ????

Stay tuned to know who attended which bash on the big day, which also is THE Big B’s birthday too !!!!!!!!
