Story of a dumb and mute boy who falls in love with an autistic girl will be released with Turkish subtitles.

“Turkey is a place where my grandfather (Raj Kapoor) has a great following even today. To see my film getting a wide theatrical release in the same country is a huge compliment. I am very excited about this,” said Ranbir, who bagged best actor trophies at Filmfare, Screen, Zee Cine, Apsara Producer’s Guild awards for playing Barfi.

Continuing its endeavour to open new international markets for Indian cinema, UTV is said to be the first Indian studio to enter Turkey on this scale with “Barfi!”

One of the most successful films of 2012, the Anurag Basu directed drama won critical acclaim too in the form of top honours at all key awards in the country. The film was India’s official entry to the Academy Awards 2012.
“I am extremely happy that a story I have lived with over so many years has in the last few months received global recognition and now is geared towards greater opportunities, including mainstream releases in non-traditional markets,” said Basu.

Thanks to “Bafi!” success, the director too walked away with trophies at all major awards in the country for narrating the heartwarming tale on celluloid so beautifully.

Amrita Pandey, executive director, international distribution, syndication and Disney Media Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV, said that “Barfi!” had appealed to a global audience.

“After its screening at the prestigious Busan and Marrakech film festivals last year, the film continues to receive accolades from all quarters including the Grand Jury Award at the prestigious Okinawa Film Festival in Japan. ‘Barfi!’ is the widest release for any Hindi film in Turkey,” she added.

Firat Dilbaz of Cinemajestic, film exhibitors in Turkey, said that for many years Turkish audiences have not watched Indian movies in theatres and “we are excited to have a critical and commercial success such as ‘Barfi!’ as the first on this scale”.

“We are currently showing trailers of the film on over 200 screens and the response from the audiences has been extremely encouraging,” he added.

“I am happy for her. Now, in the Chopra family, there are two national awards. The whole day I had to explain what special mention means!” said Priyanka.

Priyanka Chopra won a National Ward for her sensational performance in the movie “Fashion”.

National Film awards have yet again proved that they are completely different from other popular awards and give the accolades only to the people who deserve.

A subtle blow on the blind idol worship and the scramble to follow various processes advocated by religious gurus to attain success in life, this Akshay Kumar & Paresh Rawal starrer underlined the fact that one should not get blind in following religious beliefs. The acting by both the actors ensured that the movie became a hit.

Barfi!

The romantic comedy headlines Priyanka Chopra, Ranbir Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz. All the three actors have literally created magic on the silver screen. While Ranbir plays a deft and mute character, Priyanka essays the role of an autistic girl, and Ileana does a rich Bengali girl, respectively.

Kya Super Kool Hain Hum

Kya Super Kool Hai Hum is the sequel to Kya Kool Hai Hum. The film received a great response at the Box Office. It stars Ritesh Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor and is directed by Ekta Kapoor.

Barfi!

Barfi! is one of the best films of the year. Ranbir Kapoor and Priyank Chopra’s acting was marvelous. The movie received a great response and went on to collect 100 crores.

Barfi! joins this year’s big box office hits Ek Tha Tiger, Bol Bachchan and Rowdy Rathore, all of which have collected Rs 100 crore and over. The film is still expected to collect a lot more.

Murphy Radio or the Murphy baby were featured in the print advertisements of Murphy Enterprises, in 1960s and 70s.

The song ‘A La Barfi’ has words like ‘Murphy’, ‘Murphy Radio’ and ‘Murphy Munna’, which is in the film as well, and have been taken without any written permission.

Surjeet Kurup, the lawyer representing the company said,

“In the song Ala Barfi, the brand Murphy Radio is unambiguously mentioned and perceivably in a negative light. It appears that the story line revolves round the theme that the lady desires for a baby like Murphy Munna which is also registered trademark with us,” he said.

He added: “UTV Motion Pictures have done this blatantly without taking consent from the owners of this brand. It has annoyed the brand owners. We have issued a notice to the violators and are intending to proceed to file a suit for injunction and damages for Rs 50 crore.”

On the other hand, UTV maintains, “We are clear that there has been no infringement whatsoever and we are in the process of sending a response to the notice,” their spokesperson said.

The notice is all about the mother dying as soon as Murphy Radio is put on and so the child is named so, in her memory.

The makers of Barfi! are out with yet another adorable number titled ‘Kyun’, featuring an autistic girl Jhilmil (Priyanka Chopra) and a mute guy Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor).

The songs starts with Barfi and Jhilmil being chucked off a bus in the middle of an unknown place and there after, Barfi trying to get rid of Jhilmil… He tries his best but in the end, gives up and lets her stay by his side.

Priyanka Chopra never ceases to amaze us. She’s seen in two songs and the films trailer and the actress has already won a million of hearts. From her awkward body language to her facial expressions, the actress seems very close to winning Filmfare Best Actress Award & may be a National Award too.

The song has been composed by Pritam and sung by Papon and Sunidhi Chauhan. The lyrics are by Neelesh Mishra.

The film is slated to release on September 14.
