Peepli Live – Movie Preview
Peepli Live is creating ripples of enthusiasm in the world of Hindi cinema! It is one of the most awaited films lined up for release in the year 2010. It talks about the innumerable farmer suicide cases happening in rural India. Peepli Live has generated a lot of curiosity among the critics as well as the audience alike. As this is produced by one of the finest actors of Bollywood, Aamir Khan, many expectations are riding on this venture. The movie sounds really interesting. It is a fresh and intelligent satire spun on the real life sad events of farmer suicides which have plagued rural India in the last decade.
One of the most astonishing facts is that majority of the actors who have acted in this movie are not professional actors. They are real villagers from the village in which the the movie was shot. The movie is directed by the film maker couple, Anusha Rizvi and Mahmood Farooqui. Along with Aamir, Ronnie Screwwala and Kiran Rao, Aamir Khan’s wife, have produced this venture. This is Kiran Rao’s first foray into the world of Bollywood.
The Cast of Peepli Live – Astounding Lineup
The screenplay is written by Anusha Rizvi, who is also making her maiden venture as a director. The music is scored by Mathias Duplessy. The cast of the film boasts of seasoned thespians like Naseeruddin Shah, Raghuvir Yadav as well as lesser known artists such as Omkar Das, Shalini Vatsa, Farrukh Jaffar, Malaika Shenoy and Vishal Shama amongst others. The film was shot in various locales of Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi.
The Sensational Plot
The story revolves around two poor farmers, Budhia and Natha, from an Indian village of Peepli. On the eve of the national elections, these two face the predicament of losing their land over an unpaid government loan. To make amends, they desperately seek help from a ruthless local politician, who advises them to commit suicide. This will help them to gain benefits from a government program that intends to aid the families of deceased indebted farmers.
A journalist overhears Budhia as he urges Natha to commit suicide for their families’ sake. This creates a media frenzy about whether or not Natha will commit suicide. Everyone awaits eagerly for the action to take place. The ever-zealous media, local henchmen, high-ranking bureaucrats and political bigwigs land in the sleepy village of Peepli to stake their individual claims for publicity and their hidden interests.
Everybody is anxious to know “Will Natha finally commit suicide or won’t?” What will be the fate of the unfortunate farmer Natha as the mania escalates to a frenzy. Nobody really seems to care how he feels?
Anusha Rizvi infuses a sense of buoyancy and humor with a deft hand in portraying this tragic occurrence and illuminates the true colors of Indian society.
Lara Dutta – Bearing the Brunt of Wardrobe Malfunction
At the recent IIFA award ceremony held in Colombo , bechari Lara Dutta suffered a wardrobe malfunction. Lara was there for the launch of a musical reality show for which she is the judge. As she was addressing the gathering, the strap of her dress suddenly snapped. But, this definitely didn’t affect our pretty lady.
After being a supermodel and walking on the ramp, this sizzling bombshell quickly held on to the strap and went back stage. When one of the photographers asked for her pictures, she seemed a lil uncomfortable. Well people, Lara is finally established and she doesn’t need these kind of cheap sleazy publicity gimmicks…just in case if you are wondering!

Just Imagine- Mr. Mani Ratnam giving a hair cut for Abhishek Bachchan!
As we all know that lil AB is quite particular about his haircut and styling, apparently poor AB jr had a bad hair day while shooting for his forthcoming film Raavan.
In the film, Abhishek plays the role of a dalit leader who kidnaps Aishwarya. And for the look, Mr. Creative Mani Ratnam wanted him to sport a super short hair. So, like planned, hairstylist Aalim tried to turn on his magic and gave Ab a super sexy look.
Unfortunately Mr. Mani was not quite happy and decided to do the triming himself. Well, a series of unfortunate events followed..resulting in poor AB looking weird! But just when they realized it, Mani called Mr. Quick -fix Aalim the same night to kerala to make things better again.

Well well well, our cute chocolate boy Imran Khan is all set to be the man of many young girls dreams! Technically, not only through his films but also through books. Just imagine! Sweet Imran is the new hero of the hit, romantic Mills & Boon series.
The production house has got a tie-up with KJo’s firm Dharma Productions only to come up with a series of books on their film I Hate Love Storys. These books are going to be exclusive spin-offs!
Who better than Imran can perfectly fit the M&B bill? Apparently, the publishing house is going to come up with a series of eight books, and the story would be about Imran who doesn’t believe in LOVE. We are glad it’s just in the books though.
Imran has quite a tremendous appeal amongst the younger generation, so to create the perfect hype and excitement for the book, the publishing House has taken the initiative of readers getting to meet Imran at their launch.
The basic idea behind this entire hungama is well put in by Mr. Manish Singh, country manager for Harlequin Mills & Boon India Pvt Ltd. He says that every youth dreams of falling in love and every story of love is filled with joys and anxiety and by symbolizing the idea that unfolds in every youth’s life the book aims to synergise with the movie theme.

Here comes Sanjay Dutt Jr! – errr, well hopefully
Finally the unexpected has happened, not soo long from now we are soon going to see sanju Jr – Sanju’s wife Manyata is just three months pregnant and the proud parents to be are just overwhelmed that their prayer for a bundel of joy has been answered.
From his first marriage, Sanjay has a lovely daughter Trishala, but rounds has it that he wants a cute lil baby boy this time. But, keeping all rumours at bay, the Dutt’s don’t have any particular preference for a baby boy or a girl.
We are sure Sanjay would make a great pappa. Congratulations to the happy couple. We wish you all the happiness in the world.
Bebo’s 45 dress act for New Ad
Kareena Kapoor’s latest commercial for a Lappy brand has created ripples. According to Bebo, this is the most sexiest and coolest Indian advertisemnet ever! In each and every frame Kareena sheds clothes only to match the colour of her laptop.
“The Ad was shot by a motion control camera, which is the most difficult to shoot with. It took around 16 hours to finish shooting” says she. Kareena changed her clothes around 45 times…speak about quick changing, because she finished the shoot in 16 hours flat.
Kareena says that it was difficult to shoot the sequence because she had to pick up from one point and make sure that she started again from the same point. Poor Bebo had to walk around 20 Km up and down. She finished the shoot at 1 a.m only to realise that she had a morning shift at 7 a.m. At the end of the shoot poor bebo was left with tired feet. But look at the big picture..the Ad is amazing!

Madhur says ‘Dil Tho Baccha Hai Ji’
No! just in case if you are wondering, it’s not what he has been singing. Madhur who is know for making realistic films, has recently announced that, his next flick is going to be named as ‘Dil Tho Baccha Hai Ji’, interestingly this film is going to be quite different from his other films…want to know why? Well, Madhur has decided to ditch his ‘reality check’ kind of films, and is now venturing into comic flicks. Hmm…
One of the sources reveal that “Madhur always wanted to make a comedy film, but was waiting for the right subject. He zeroed in on Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji and signed on Neil and Mugdha for the lead roles”
But on second thoughts, he changed his mind and went on to sign the very famous serial kisser Emran Hashmi and none other than the very talented Ajay Devgn! Apparently AJ has been keen on working with Madhur. The shooting for this comic flick is slated to start sometime in July.

Bong Beauty Bipasa Basu Out of Raavan
Bips, our very own dusky beauty lost her role in Raavan as Mandodari (Raavan’s wife in ramayana) just because the star cast was supposedly top heavy. Let’s just see, with Ash- Abhi, south super star Vikram and Mr. Chubby cheeks Govinda around….we can just about imagine how heavy it could get! But hold on…didn’t Bips recently release her very own fitness video!!
Sources reveal that, poor Bips was all dressed up in her costume and just when she was about to leave for the shoot, her phone beeps saying that she’s been dumped for the movie! <..sigh..>
Well Bips, we are sad that you are not part of Raavan..but we are definitely looking forward to see you in Dum Maro Dum. Kudos to you girl.
Ajay Devgn seeking for Neeti?
Apparently Ajay Devgn is all upset with his buddy Prakash jha for not including him in the promo’s of the much controversial film ‘Raajneeti’. Like you can see poor AJ has been missing from all of the promos and te focus has been more on the lovey-dovey hotties Ranbir kapoor and bollywood’s top beauty Katrina Kaif (not that we are complaining).
One of the sources revealed that Mr. AJ didn’t react first. But later on when it became much apparent about promoting Ranbir-Kats romantic angle that he was believed to have said Prakash Jha that “the movie is promoted as a romantic film while essentially the film is a political one”. Ajay didn’t want the audience to be cheated into thinking that the film is a romantic one. How noble of Ajay.
Ajay’s friend thinks that ‘he had been taken for granted’ ..with this and other ‘bla- bla’ finally Mr. Jha has got to say this “I love Ajay as much as I love myself and can never sideline him. I don’t think there’s any issue”. Well, we sure hope so too.
