“Shah Rukh is undoubtedly one of the biggest superstars in the country. His work and fan following are enough to prove his worth in the industry. I would definitely want to work with him,” a leading daily quoted Arbaaz Khan as saying.

There’s been news doing the rounds that Salman’s brother wishes to work with the King of Bollywood sometime in the future. However, Arbaaz was quick to refute the rumour that he is in talks with Shahrukh Khan about any upcoming project. He also clarified that making films with Salman as a hero in them, is his first priority.

“Salman is family. Why would I go out and search for actors before approaching the superstar in our house? Besides being a brother, he is also a great actor and performer. His fans love him, irrespective of whether his films bomb or work at the box-office. Any director and producer would love to work with him and I only feel fortunate to have delivered two back-to-back hits with him,” Arbaaz said.

Arbaaz Khan has acted in a list of films which include super hits ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ and ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, and later ventured into direction with ‘Dabangg’, which starred Salman Khan went on to become a massive success.

Malaika Arora Khan geared up to launch her own clothing line called the Closet Label, at Olive in Mumbai. She’s the creative director, stylist and curator of the collection.

Famous names such as Karisma Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Ashmit Patel, Evelyn Sharma, Sangeeta Bijlani, Rocky S and Yash Birla were also spotted at the event as they had arrived to support Malaika.

However, there was a strange atmosphere as a few notable names like Malaika’s brother-in-law Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and her husband Arbaaz Khan weren’t seen at the event.

Reports suggest that Salman Khan missed the event because he is busy completeing the shoot for his new movie Mental. Kareena Kapoor’s absence came as a surprise though she was spotted in Mumbai a day ago for a promotional event.

On the show, the participants do not spare any one and are often seen taking a potshot at Archana Puran Singh, who has been with “Comedy Circus” since the beginning. Arbaaz replaces his brother Sohail in the judge’s seat.

Praising Archana, Arbaaz said: “Archana does it very gracefully. They crack so many jokes. Sometimes it looks so exaggerated and over the top, so you should have the ability to laugh at yourself.”

“I think I have got enough humour and I have the capacity to take a joke on myself and that’s the reason I am here,” he added. Arbaaz feels that audiences understand that it’s being done in good humour and so do the judges.

“We really don’t know what is really hitting below the belt, but whatever it is, you have to understand the intention is not to harm you. If we have the ability to sit on the judge’s chair and enjoy jokes cracked on others, we should have the ability to take the jokes on ourselves.”

Did the show come to you because Sohail got busy with his directorial venture “Mental”, which stars Salman Khan in the lead role?

“I was open to do something on TV. Many things came my way, but they didn’t excite me. When Sohail got busy, they (the channel bosses) wanted somebody to replace him. They have their own parameters and they felt they need me… they approached me. Sohail did it for two years, it’s a long period of time.”

“Comedy Circus” will familiarise viewers with the other side of Arbaaz’s personality. “The show gives an opportunity to let people know me and get a glimpse of me. Maybe there is some amount of seriousness attached to my personality – no nonsense type, who does grey roles.

“TV is something where you can’t escape. If you are not playing a character, then your personality will come across. How real is he? What are the things he talks about? They can form a different opinion about me post the show,” he added. He is no stranger to show and knows the format.

“It’s not that the whole show is alien or unknown to me. It has been going on for seven years. There have been innumerable episodes. I am aware of what the nature of the show is and this show is about having fun. Sohail wanted me to do it. He said that I should do it. He just made it easy for me to make up my mind,” the 45-year-old said.

While talking to the media, Salman Khan said: “From a T-shirt, Being Human has now grown into a full clothing line with its own stores. I am touched by the love people have shown for this brand.”

He added: “I feel there should be competition for doing charity. I think everyone should open a charitable trust and then see where it reaches and to what level.”

Bipasha Basu was a surprise guest. The actress has recently been on very good terms with the actor and also launched her fitness DVD Breakfree, on Bigg Boss 6, which has Salman Khan as it’s host.

The others spotted were Sohail Khan with wife Seema, Arbaaz Khan and wife Malaika Arora, Boney Kapoor, Vatsal Seth, David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala.

Salman Khan himself appeared on the balcony of his house and waved at the media persons and fans camped outside.

The superstar has turned 47 yesterday and has every reason to be happy because it has been a terrific year for him professionally. His Ek Tha Tiger is the biggest blockbuster of the year and now Dabangg 2 looks like it’s gonna surpass Ek Tha Tiger’s collection at the B.O. is going strong at the box office. The film has already crossed the 100 crore mark.

Arbaaz Khan said at an interview recently, “God forbid if something goes wrong, I don’t think it will be will be the end of Arbaaz Khan. Arbaaz Khan will bounce back.”

When asked about what people can expect from Dabanng 2, because Dabangg was already a huge hit, Arbaaz said: “As you know, Dabangg 2 is the sequel to the earlier film. We will be taking the story forward so that people can come and enjoy the journey further. We have tried to create things that can be more exciting for people. Dabangg symbolizes entertainment, drama, good music, actions and we have tried to give doses of all of that in the sequel too.”

Arbaaz was also asked about why he didn’t chose another accomplished director and opted for himself after Abhinav Kashyap decided to opt out of the film.

Arbaaz said: “Honestly, I always had the silent ambition of being a director.”

“I have not just been a mere producer; I have been involved with Abhinav on various aspects of the film, so when this opportunity arose, we had a void as to who will direct the film. I felt nobody, at that point in time and in the given circumstances, would be better suited to step in and take charge than myself, so I did it.”

Arbaaz chipped in saying he loved the tug of wars with Salman and how both of them argued a lot of times.

“Whatever the film could absorb or whatever was right for the film we have incorporated in the film. There were times when Salman Khan suggested things, we discussed and argued about it. At times I had to relent because I felt that I should trust his experience and his comfort level.”

“At other times, I managed to convince him. I enjoyed this tug of war where I give in sometimes and he gives in sometimes. Finally, we are both happy with the outcome.” added Arbaaz.
