Earlier, Anil Kapoor has produced films such as Aaisha, Gandhi – My Father, and Badhaai Ho Badhaai besides a few more films. Reportedly, the cast of this new film is being finalised by Anil Kapoor himself! The movie is expected to be ready by October, this year. Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan who just turned 21, returned from USA after studying screenplay, writing and acting.

Speculation was rife that he would be a part of the cast. But, apparently, he has turned down two offers because he has something else on mind. Harshvardhan is believed to have received two offers, one each from Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Vikramaditya Motwane. Instead of acting, Hardshvardhan has shown interest in direction. The buzz is that, he’s currently working as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap on his upcoming film, Bombay Velvet.

A source close to Harshvardhan told a newspaper, “He has utmost respect for both Rakeysh and Vikramaditya and was flattered that they thought of him for their films. But right now, Harsh wants to concentrate only on assisting Anurag. He wants to experience the process of filmmaking and learn the intricacies before moving in front of the camera.Harsh doesn’t want to live off his father’s name. He wants to start from scratch, like his dad did.”

Bombay Velvet will hit the screens sometime in July and will star Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Just in case Harshvardhan decides to take a detour from direction, papa Anil would be more than happy to launch him too!

Perhaps Sonam Kapoor wants to be known for being more than just a style diva! The stylish actress who has become very popular in a relatively short span of time, has come a long way since her Bollywood debut Saawariya, in which she was paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor. But, she seems discontent with her performance in her initial films Thank You and Players.

She has just returned from Cannes film festival, where she grabbed too many eyeballs! So busy is this fashionista that she started shooting for her next film with Ayushmann Khurrana, immediately after she returned to India. Speaking about her old film projects, she said, “Even before Thank You, and Players hit the theatres, I realised my life was not going the way I wanted. I was working on big projects, but I wasn’t comfortable. I realised I had not earned my right to be there. I needed to be a better actor. Was I being hard on myself? Maybe, but that’s the truth! “

Apparently, Sonam was very upset with her role and performance in Players and had decided to hang her boots for a while! But papa Anil prevailed upon her and pumped some confidence into sulking Sonam. Talking about it, Sonam Kapoor says, “There was no point no point trying to be something that I was not. I needed to switch off. I needed a break,” She now has a couple of big projects lined up, which might give her the much needed change in perception!

She has great expectations from her new film Raanjhanaa. Ask her about relationships and she says, “Who says I wasn’t always single? I think not being in a relationship is good for me, it’s easier working this way. I just want to be on sets now, nowhere else.” Will she get the tag of a fine actor, that she craves?

Produced by Anil and directed by Anand L. Rai, the romance saga revolves around a Hindu boy, played by southern star Dhanush who is making his Bollywood debut with the movie, and a Muslim girl (Sonam).

When asked about the film’s prospects, he said “You are asking the wrong person” but added: “Everyone is liking it. It’s really very good. The music is also very nice.”

He further said: “The chemistry between Sonam and Dhanush is looking great. There is an innocence and passion in the film, which is very visible in the promos. After a long time audience will get to see an earthy love story, which they will really like.”

The 53-year-old was speaking at the success party of his last release “Shootout At Wadala” here Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Anil is also producing a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee directed 1980 classic film “Khoobsurat” with Sonam in the lead role.

The success bash of ‘Shootout at Wadala’ was a star studded affair, held at the 212 Lounge in Mumbai, on Tuesday evening. Celebs including John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Anil Kapoor, and Sophie Chaudhary sparkled the event with their presence.

The film is in it’s second week and continues to rule the box office with a cash collection of Rs 53.94 crore till Monday.

Tusshar Kapoor wrote on Twitter after attending the Shootout at Wadala success bash: “Just got back from the SAW bash, full on paisa vasool just like the film! Cheers to another steady week at the box office! Ala re Ala success party Ala!”

Story :

Shootout At Wadaala is based upon true incidents that happened in Mumbai in 1970′s and 80′s between Bombay underworld and police. Manohar Arjun Surve aka Manya Surve (John Abraham) is a son of a gangster, Manya does not want to follow his father’s footsteps, wants to pass his degree with good marks and earn a respectful job. But however when Manya is sentenced to jail after police accuse him of assisting his brother in murdering a gangster where Manya actually tries to save his brother. Gutted Manya Surve who is in jail becomes even more angrier after his brother is killed in jail and learns fighting skills from an inmate in order to become tougher. Manya eventually runs away from the jail with an inmate Sheikh Muneir(Tussar Kapoor) and starts a new gang against the likes of Zubair Imtiaz Haksar(Manoj Bajpayee) and Dilawar Imtiaz Haksar(Sonu Sood). Rest of the movie is about how does the Bombay police lead by ACP Ishaque Bagwan ends the gang wars by encountering the gangsters one by one.

Artist Performances :

John Abraham did a brilliant job as a good man who turns into dangerous gangster. John suited the character perfectly and he was exceptional with his dialogue delivery. Anil Kapoor did the role of a sincere police officer who wants to end Mumbai underworld and did his job perfectly, no complaints whatsoever. Manoj Baypayee had relatively less screen time but he was undoubtedly the best actor in the movie, he played role of a cruel,fearless and sarcastic gangster and did an outstanding job. Soonu sood and kangna Ranaut were decent and played their part well.

Technical Aspects :

Movie was completely shot in old Mumbai. Director has taken care of every single detail in the movie such that the locations pertain to 1970′s era. Camera work was done exceptionally well where every action sequence looked stylish. Music of the movie is a huge asset, songs are good and background score was very engaging. Overall movie is technically very well presented.

Analysis :

Movie starts off with John Abraham narrating his story to Anil Kapoor in a police van which is en route to hospital after John was shot badly by police. 1st half of the movie is very engaging and interesting where Manya slowly starts building his gang after Haskar brothers refuse to take into their gang. Meanwhile Anil Kapoor and his team keep on hunting some notorious gangsters. First half ends with good punch with audience very much involved in the movie. 2nd half starts off slowly but gathers pace gradually when Manya starts becoming a threat for police after couple of big profile killings. Latter part of 2nd half is dragged a bit with less interesting scenes. Then comes the climax of the movie which has the main shootout episode which was shot well without deviating from authenticity of real incident.

On whole Shoot At Wadala is the movie that was written well but there were some voids in the script at places. Major assets of the movie are its music, dialogues and actor’s performances. Every character in the movie is very well defined and enacted by the actors such that viewers are always engaged to screen . Audience were relived in the middle with 3 item songs with hot women and catchy music . Shootout At Wadala has all the ingredients of a ‘paisa vasool’ flick and will do good business at the box-office, it can attract both multiplex and single screen audience.

Bottom-line : Intense acting, powerful dialogues, bloody gore and hot women combine to form a ‘paisa vasool’ flick !

The cast of John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Sunny Leone and Sophie Choudhary descended onto the city on a mission to mesmerise the audience for their upcoming new movie, ‘Shootout at Wadala’. 

Hundreds of people gathered at the famous shopping mall at 6pm, the scheduled time for the concert, only to wait for the celebs to kick start the event 2 hours later. Though nobody appeared to care as there were dance performances with the presenters, which kept the crowd in the mood waiting for the stars to arrive. And when eventually they did arrive, the deafening noise was enough to fade out the attempts by the stars, until Anil Kapoor and his trademark, JHAKASS pulled the chords down allowing them to interact with the fans.

 Tusshar Kapoor was able to tickle a few ribs when he aped his characted from the ‘Golmaal’ series as Manoj Bajpayee wowed the crowd with a stint from ‘Satya’.

But the fans couldn’t stop asking for John and their thirst was quenched when John Abraham finally arrived and mouthed a dialogue from his upcoming flick, ‘SAW’. The fans were excited to see Sunny Leone finally unleashed, minus the cage dance of course which unfortunately got cancelled due to the DTCM, which you can read here. The sexy starlet awe-struck everybody with her moves on her item song, Laila while Sophie Choudhary sung the song, Ala re Ala. 

All this lasted for just 15 minutes but for the fans present, they were satisfied and happy as ever.

“Somewhere I feel that it becomes less challenging. Sometimes you do such a character that does not have any reference point, so it becomes difficult. But like there are certain incidents which the story is based upon,” the 56-year-old said Wednesday in an interview here.

“Besides, this film is inspired from the book ‘Dongri To Dubai’, few incidents have been taken from that book. So as an actor or director or filmmaker, your work becomes interesting. I would not say it becomes easy, but somewhere we enjoy doing that,” he added.

Anil further says he got a lot of support from Isaque while playing the role.

Isaque was the one who shot gangster Manya Surve in November 1982, the first registered encountered by Mumbai police.

“In this film, I play ACP Isaque Bagwan. He is a real life person who did the first encounter in Bombay. So my character is inspired from him. I got a lot of support and help when I was doing this film. Before starting with the film, I met him, we talked and I enjoyed playing this role,” Anil said.

Directed by Sanjay Gupta, “Shootout At Wadala” also stars John Abraham, Tusshar Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee, Kangna Ranaut and Mahesh Manjrekar and is slated for a May 1 release.

Sunny Leone recently danced to an item song in Sanjay Gupta’s “Shootout At Wadala”, and says she had a dream of dancing in a Bollywood movie and now with the song her dream became true.

“As a little girl, you always watch all these Bollywood movies with beautiful women dancing and singing. This (‘O laila’) is a great escape, it is a great song to dance to,” she added.

“The song that i am dancing to is called  ”O laila”. Never in a million years did I think of being here and have a chance to make something like this,” the 32-year-old said here Tuesday at the music launch of “Shootout At Wadala. I am really thankful. I am thanking my lucky stars, god, Ekta and Sanjay for being so patient with me.”

“Shooutout At Wadala” has other item song featuring Priyanka Chopra in “Babli badmash” and  as per recent reports , it has been confirmed that Sophie Chowdry is also doing an item song “Ala re Manya”, for which Kangana refused to do the song.

The film stars John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut and Anil Kapoor. The film will release May 1.
