Amisha Patel

Ameesha Patel was born on 9 June 1975. Born as Amisha Amit Patel to Amit Patel and Asha Patel, she studied Economics at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. She is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer.
Ameesha Patel began her career as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited. Later on, she received an offer from Morgan Stanley but turned it down and joined Satyadev Dubey’s theatre group. She acted in various plays during her time in the acting school, including an Urdu language play titled Neelam. Coming from a conservative family, it was difficult for Ameesha to get approval from her parents to pursue a career in acting. While she was still enrolled in the acting school she alternatively started modelling and appeared in several commercial. She was seen in Bajaj Sevashram, Fair & Lovely, Cadburys, Fem, and Lux to name a few.
Her breakthrough was with Rakesh Roshan’s Kaho Na Pyaar Hai alongside Hirithik Roshan. The movie was a huge hit and made Ameesha a rising star. She appeared in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha in 2001, alongside Sunny Deol, the highest grossing movie of that year. Her performance was critically acclaimed and she won the Filmfare Special Performance Award. After a series of flops, Ameesha delivered a hit with Humraaz in 2002 for which she was nominated for the Filmfare Best Actress award. Despite her performance in Humraaz, a dry phase continued to haunt Ameesha. In 2006 she was again paired with Hrithik Roshan in Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage. Their chemistry did not light up the screen and the movie was a commercial and critical failure. In 2006, the 6 movies she appeared in all flopped. After years in Bollywood wilderness, Ameesha came back with a bang in 2012 where she was spotted in Race 2, playing the role of Anil Kapoor’s assistant.
Despite not having any movie releases, Ameesha Patel always managed to stay in the news. Her estranged relationship with her family and her speculated affair with film maker, Vikram Bhatt has kept her in the limelight.
