Brand ambassador of Maybelline, Alia does not believe in applying too much make-up.

“I don’t believe in changing your face completely. Make-up enhances few features and you can have a little fun with colours. But changing your face completely never works… hold on to what you are,” she told IANS in an interview.

“I just think, the more normal you are, the more personal it is. I have to look presentable, but I will love to get out in my pyjamas one day,” she added.

Fairly new to the industry, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt-actress Soni Razdan’s daughter Alia started her journey with Karan Johar’s directorial venture “Student Of The Year”.

Currently busy shooting for Imtiaz Ali’s “Highway” and Abhishek Varman’s “2 States”, Alia wants to endorse brands that suit her age and on-screen image.

“The brand has to suit the image I portray and my age. I look for a brand, which I am able to carry off. I can’t endorse a dish washing brand as I don’t portray that. If a brand fits my profile, I will go ahead,” she said.

Alia is all set for a long road ahead.

“I am just one film old. There is a long way. There is a lot of hard work to be done,” she said sounding realistic.

Sajid Nadiadwala, who is presenting and releasing “Highway” worldwide, is very excited about the project.

“Come to think of it, it was only last December that we agreed to go ahead with the film. And to start the shoot in March and then stick to the schedules despite being such a tough shoot is quite incredible,” Nadiadwala said in a statement.

The movie traverses across the roads of six Indian states and has music by maestro A.R. Rahman, who has been trying to match the film musically to the varied vistas of the film – from Delhi to Rajasthan, Haryana to Himachal, Punjab to Kashmir.

“Highway” is a project very close to Ali, known for movies like “Jab We Met”, “Love Aaj Kal” and “Rockstar”.

After Kareena Kapoor as Geet in “Jab We Met” and Deepika Padukone as Meera in “Love Aaj Kal”, this time Alia Bhatt will be seen as Veera.

Though Ali is said to have had an older character in mind, the moment he met young Alia, he knew she suited the character very well, said a source.

The 19-year-old plays an Iyengar girl in the movie, based on Chetan Bagat’s novel “2 States: The Story of My Marriage”. The story revolves around a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Tamil girl, and the ensuing cultural clashes between them and their families.

Alia, who made her debut with “Student Of The Year” last year, will feature opposite “Ishaqzaade” fame Arjun Kapoor in the film. She is learning Bharatanatyam to get into the character, said a statement.

The film “2 States” is directed by Abhishek Verman and co-produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala.

Gippi is an upcoming movie from Karan Johar’s production house. Gippi is a story about an overweight 13 yr old girl. Playing Gippi is a teen from Delhi Riya Vij. To shoot the promo for this movie Karan Johar called 6 young actors namely Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, ArjunKapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Imran Khan. The music for the movie has been given by Vishal and Shekhar. The  movie is directed by Sonam Nair. Incidentally, Gippi is the first kids film to be produced by Karan.

Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is making a slight shift from his usual lovey dovey genre and is coming up with an out and out kids movie titled Gippi.

Directed by debutante Sonam Nair, the movie looks fresh and interesting. It is a story of an overweight child who hates dieting, a problem every youth faces today.

The film doesn’t feature big stars and so, Arjun Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra have been roped in to shoot special promos.

Apparently, Gippi is a story based on the directors real life, her unpleasant experiences — the bullying and teasing by classmates and her parents’ insistence that she diet.

Most of the shoot for the film was done in the scenic locales of Simla, while some portions are now being completed in Mumbai. The movie is set to release on May 10.
