Gearing up for the relase of his second Hindi movie “Aurangzeb”, after “Aiyyaa”, Prithviraj would like to go behind the camera.

“Direction is definitely on the cards. I definitely want to make my own film in Hindi one day and that’s my dream,” the actor told IANS.

One of the popular actors down south, Prithviraj also produces films there, but says he has no intention of doing it here.

“With production, I just realised that things work very differently here (Bollywood). It is not like in South. It’s a new ball game. Until I am sure that I have authentic knowledge about how to put things together for a project, I don’t think I should venture into production. Direction is something I want to do soon.”

“I had written a few things long back. I don’t know when it will happen, but let’s see. I am hoping it happens soon,” he added.

Keen to make it big in the Hindi film industry, the actor is hunting for a house in Mumbai.

“We have been searching for the house for the longest time. I have realised that it’s easier to find a house on Mars or somewhere else, but very tough here. Hunt is still on,” the 30-year-old said.

Rani Mukherjee said Aiyya would be one of her best, but long gone are the days when an actor said that their film would be something new, and the film actually turned out to be worth the money. In fact Aiyyaa will be a huge disappointment for Rani and Anurag Kashyap’s fans. It is hard to believe that Rani, who has won awards for critically acclaimed roles said yes to the film. And what made Anurag Kashyap, who is the producer of the movie, think that a movie that has a female lead going head over heels for a man just because of his odour, would work at the box office?

The story sounds quite funny as a concept, but the jokes barely work. Meenakshi Deshpande (Rani Mukherjee) is a middle class Marathi girl, a librarian at a college.  She has five members in her family: A wheelchair bound grandmother who is blind, her father who smokes four cigarettes together, her mother who is obsessed with marriage, and her brother who’s only love in life is dogs. To escape the  craziness of her family, Rani lives her life in dreams, and in her dreams the only thing she’s doing is dancing and enacting her favorite actresses, Sridevi, Juhi etc. Then there is Maina, Rani’s best friend, who managed to thoroughly annoy everyone in the theater this writer was watching Aiyyaa in. The less said about her the better.

Meenakshi’s family are looking for a suitable groom but Meenakshi, who doesn’t believe in arranged marriages, is waiting for her prince and wants her dream wedding. That’s when South Superstar Surya (Prithviraj) enters. Surya is an art student, and the moment Meenakshi looks at him she falls in love with his tanned skin and body odour. Yes, you read that right. Body odour. By this time her family have found the ‘right guy’ Maadhav (Subodh Bhave) for her, and are rushing with her wedding. The rest of the film involves  Madhav running around after Meenakshi, and Meenakshi following Surya.

The entire film revolves around Rani Mukherjee, but there is some disappointment here too. Viewers expecting and encore of her livewire performance in No One Killed Jessica may be disappointed, but the fault lies more with the story than with Rani.  You can see that she has put in every effort but there is little that can save this movie. Prithviraj and Subodh hardly have a role in the film but maybe because Prithviraj is a huge superstar in the south he gets to mouth a few lines in the end. Subodh, as the simple guy Madhav, has even lesser to do than Prithviraj.

To sum it up, Aiyyaa has some good moments, almost all provided by Rani Mukherjee, and all of them in the first half but Aiyyaa’s story and film length could have used a helping hand. The item songs live up to their billing and Rani has performed the best belly dance this side of the Arabian Sea. But movies are about more than belly dancing and sadly for Aiyyaa and Rani, that is all people are going to remember.

“I feel very lucky that the entire country thinks about my marriage. In that sense I am the daughter of the country because they are so concerned about my marriage,” Rani told IANS.

“I am extremely happy that they are thinking about my marriage and not of anything else but such an auspicious thing. So for me, it is a very sweet thing,” added the 34-year-old.

Rani is said to be dating filmmaker Aditya Chopra.

‘Aiyyaa’, Rani’s forthcoming film is all about marriage. It’s about a Marathi girl of a marriageable age, who falls head over heels in love with a Tamil painter, only because he smells good.

What made Rani take up such a film when she is aware of the fact about audiences cinema preferances?

” ‘Aiyyaa’ is one such risk that I have taken because not only the script is whacked-out, but also the filmmaking style that Sachin has adapted is very different to what our Hindi audience is used to watching,” she said.

However, the actress is pretty confident that the movie will be liked by all as every age group can relate to it.

“I am not talking about just a section of people in the city. When you see pan India, every girl wants to be independent and make her choice in terms of a life partner. Unfortunately, some girls don’t have the liberty to make that choice because they are burdened with the thought that this is what they have to follow,” she said.

“Not only young girls, but mothers and grandmothers, who have been through this situation in their lives, will relate to my character,” she added.

Introducing southern star Prithviraj Sukumaran, “Aiyyaa” will hit theaters on Oct 12.

Amit Trivedi gets into his signature style with his latest track from Aiyyaa, titled ‘Aga bai’. The Electronic Dance Music number is beautifully sung by Shalmali Kholgade and Monali Thakur, and Rani Mukherji mesmerizes her fans with her sexy belly moves. Her frequent ‘oohs’,’ aahs’ and ‘aiyyaa’ are really working well for the actress. We are actually running out of words to describe this gorgeous lady.

Rani’s killer moves have been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant. Learning the dance steps wasn’t a cake walk for the actress. However, the talented Vaibhavi made it a little easy for her with a simple secret. According to the choreographer, first breathe in and breathe out, and while you do it, sway the hips sideways, and then feel the chocolate sauce dripping off your stomach.

Hmm! So now we know why Rani looked so much at ease through out the song.

Rani’s character in the movie is of a Maharashtrian girl named Meenakshi Deshpande.

Rani Mukherjee said, “I have always said that I am actually a Maharashtrian girl because I have been born and brought up in Maharashtra. Being a Mumbaikar, Marathi language is not alien to me. It was my dream or wish that some day I should play a Marathi girl’s role and with ‘Aiyyaa’, this dream has come true.”

Rani Mukherjee will soon be seen in not one not two but three item songs in Anurag Kashyap’s “Aiyya”.

Sachin Kundalkar, the director of the film, “Aiyya” said, “The film is a mixture of reality and dream and Rani will be seen doing three item songs in her dream in the film. Amit Trivedi has composed six songs for the film and three of them will be Rani’s item songs.”

The film will be co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Viacom 18.

The story is about a Marathi woman (Rani), who gets attracted to men who smell good. Rani will be paired opposite southern star Prithvi Raj.

“I don’t know for how many years I was trying to work with her (Rani). Luckily this script excited her. As far as the lead actor was concerned, one of my friends suggested Prithvi’s name,” Kundalkar said.

“Prithvi is an amazing actor and both are looking very fresh in the film,” he added.

Rani will now have to work a little hard for her role as she will have to undergo language training to perfect the character of a Marathi girl.

“Rani is very hardworking. She had gone through language training program before starting the film. She was a complete Marathi girl on the sets,” he said.
