After charming the world at Cannes Film Festival in France, Amitabh Bachchan returns from Cannes and our shutterbugs made sure that you get to see Big B’s reception at the Mumbai airport. Amitabh Bachchan was received by his son Abhishek Bachchan and they drove off after Big B greeted a few fans who were present there. Director duo Abbas-Mustan, experts in the action genre, will go behind the camera to direct the actioner.

Talking about the lead actors, Abbas told IANS: “They suit the characters well and they were also appreciated in ‘Dostana’. It’s a complete action film and we shall go on the floors as soon as we lock their dates.”

“We are in talks with a few actresses for the leading role, but nothing has been finalised so far,” he added.

Directed by N. Linguswamy, “Vettai” was released in 2012 and the film featured R. Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul.

Ash’s wardrobe selection at Cannes has always remained a topic of discussion for everyone back home. From gowns to dresses to sarees, Aishwarya has tried almost everything at the red carpet all these years. While she was criticized for some of her choices, we really loved a few of them. 2012

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wore Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla creation; a cream saree and an embroidered blouse at the red carpet in 2012.

2011

This year was again a disaster. Though Aishwarya looked stunning in an Armani Prive dress, the unforgivable flab, predictable hair-do, flaky make-up and mismatched accessories failed miserably. However, she was a head turner when she wore an Ellie Saab Spring 2011 Couture gown with a peplum at the waist.

2010

It was a shimmery Armani gown with her hair tied up and red lippy color for her 2010 appearance. Though she took a chance by going all bold, we thought she looked too fierce for the day.

2009

Aishwarya Rai looked gorgeous in a strapless milky white Roberto Cavalli gown. It was a pleasent change to see the actress swap the heavy gold jewellery with elegant diamond pieces.

2008

The fuschia Roberto Cavalli gown worked wonders for her in 2008, as she walked alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.

2007

The then newly wed was glowing on the red carpet as she walked along side her hubby Abhishek Bachcahn. Though the gown was not all that impressive, there was something about her that made her look adorable.

2006

It was an Elie Saab body hugging navy blue gown for Aishwarya at her 2006 appearance. Her hair and make up was excellent and her choice to go the gown way was a breather. 2005

Finally, we got to see Ash go trendy on the red carpet. The actress chose a floral gown by Giorgio Armani, which was a refreshing change from her predictable over the top heavily embellished outfits. Ash attended the premiere of ‘Match Point’ at the Palais during the 58th International Cannes Film Festival May 12, 2005.

2004

The awful white gown by designer Neeta Lulla was yet again a big let down. Her look was slammed across the board. The actress attended the 57th International Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony and screening of the film ‘La Mala Educacion’ at the Grand Theatre Lumiere on May 12, 2004 in Cannes.

2003

It was a Neeta Lulla parrot green saree for the beauty queen in the year 2003. The hideous green sari was too loud and gaudy and did not find many admirers. According to us, this was her biggest fashion letdown ever.

2002

Aishwarya Rai made her first ever appearance at Cannes in the year 2002 for the premier of her movie Devdas. She wore a yellow golden saree, teaming it with over dramatic gold jewellery. Since this was the first time, the actress could be excused.

It is speculated that she will be seen in an Indian avatar at Cannes this year.

She teamed up with Abhishek Bachchan in her Bollywood debut “Game”, which was produced by Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani and directed by Abhinay Deo and then featured in Ekta Kapoor’s production venture “Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum”.

“I am working on my third Bollywood film, it’s Atul Agnihotri’s new project titled ‘O Teri’ and I am really looking forward to it coming out very soon,” the 30-year-old told reporters here at the All India Achievers Awards.

“It’s been phenomenal, I can’t tell much right now. I am very lucky to have got a chance to work with big actors, big producers,” added the former beauty queen.

In “O Teri”, she has teamed up with Pulkit Samrat.

She is glad that the industry has accepted her and added: “I am happy, lucky that the industry has been so welcoming

There were rumours about Aishwarya Rai making a comeback to the big screen after her sabbatical with Farah Khan’s Happy New Year. According to reports, Farah Khan approached Aishwarya for the female lead in the movie opposite Shahrukh Khan.

Apparently, Aishwarya Rai had showed interest in the project and even wanted to read the script but then she changed her mind.

What could be the reason? Aishwarya wanted to be paired opposite her hubby Abhishek Bachchan, who also stars in the movie, instead of Shahrukh Khan!

Reports suggest that Ash has second thoughts about acting in the same film with her husband Abhishek and not being cast opposite him. The actress feels her audience may not like the movie if they don’t see the couple together.  Such a clause on Aishwarya’s part seems uncanny as the couple have been part of the same movie in the past and were not paired opposite each other, the last being ‘Raavan’.

Which means, the hunt for the lead actress to star opposite Shahrukh Khan is still going on!  After pinning her hopes on Ash, no Farah has to look out for other options like Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Farah wants to avoid casting Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma after Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Moreover, it’s going to be Aishwarya’s comeback after her maternity break. Farah could’ve well thought that Ash could re-open her movies account with Happy New Year but seems like Farah will have to wait to cast her in some other movie as Ash might have some other plans up her sleeves!

The clause said that the production company will not make any more movies of the Dhoom Franchise after Dhoom 3. It may be recalled that it was John Abraham’s Dhoom which inspired the makers to make a sequel or a franchise of the film. Aamir is doing the negative role in the movie which was earlier played by John and Hrithik Roshan is Dhoom and Dhoom 2  respectively. But Aamir wants his movie to be the last of the Dhooms!

And according to sources, YRF has agreed to this difficult condition. The spokesperson from YRF however maintains that there is no such clause. “The Dhoom franchise will go on,” he says. Along with Aamir, Dhoom 3 stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. Aamir remained unavailable for comment. Dhoom released in 2004 and Dhoom 2 in 2006. Dhoom 3 is expected to release on the Christmas day this year.

And rumour has it that, YRF has agreed to his difficult clause. However, the spokesperson from YRF insists that, “ The Dhoom franchise will go on.” 

Apart from Aamir Khan, Dhoom 3 stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. Dhoom 3  is expected to release on the Christmas eve this year.
