“Something special coming up…tomorrow,11am..” read Deepika Padukone’s tweet yesterday. To everyone’s surprise, she revealed the logo of her foundation Live, Love, Laugh. In June, Deepika had announced that she is starting a foundation to help people fight mental illness – and as promised, here it is!

It is indeed a great initiative by Deepika as she knows how difficult it is to fight mental illness. We cannot forget her heartbreaking interview with Barkha Dutt, where she revealed her struggle to fight depression and anxiety.
It was extremely courageous of Deepika to break the stigma and talk about arguably the lowest phase in her career as a showbiz star. Deepika, through her foundation Live, Love, Laugh wants to prevent, cure and spread awareness about the same. “I felt empty and directionless,” was the statement that made it to the headlines after her courageous interview and now it seems Deepika, through her foundation wants to help all the people who have lost their direction to mental illness.
Working for a social cause is a part and parcel of our celebrities’ life but this one is surely special for Deepika as she has herself been a victim of depression. Thankfully, her parents stood by her and supported her to overcome her chronic depression but everyone is not as lucky as her. Here’s when Live, Love, Laugh comes into picture. Her foundation aims to spread awareness and help the needy in every possible manner. According to the reports, Deepika and her team has worked closely with the experts and have consulted best psychiatrists in building this foundation.
Her interview and her struggle to fight depression also remind us of the powerful video My Choice featuring Deepika for Vogue Empower. The central theme of this video, directed by Homi Adajania, was to spread a message that every woman is entitled to make her own choices in life. Though the video received flak and praise in equal measure the theme of empowering woman is a powerful one.
