Bollywood’s Off-Screen Jai-Veeru

Friendship Day Special: Celebrating B-Town’s Famous Bromances

With Friendship Day today, we can think of no better time to start strolling down Bollywood memory lane, thinking of our favourite pairings over the years. This Friendship Day, we decided to focus on Bollywood’s non-screen male bonding. Second only to a good Bollywood romance is the time-honoured tradition of a bromance.

So let’s reflect on the concept which is insufficiently glorious and disarmingly cute – the bromance. When two dudes with almost the same level of celebrity like to hang out with each other apart from movie sets and do all acts of brotherly volume one, two, three and maybe even a deluxe, we are left to witness some wild, wild romance. Let us observe.

Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan

Probably, the most powerful bromance they could ever be. After doing numerous films together, these guys are obviously pretty ‘close.’ Not a surprise then that both have quite the reputation at being a badass. Given the frequent friction with the law, zero points for guessing what these men bond over.

Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor

When two filmy boys come together to host a fun dance show, there is bound to be limitless drama and heavy emotion. Move over SRK, we smell a new bromance brewing and it is growing stronger by the minute. Funnily, they both share a strong connection to a particular Bollywood bombshell. We think these two could go on to set up global mutual admiration society rules and norms.

Fun Fact: They both have a ship name – Shohar. Now isn’t that adorable?

Hrithik Roshan and Uday Chopra

Ever noticed how much Hrithik is fond of Nargis? Obvious reasons. Although the pair haven’t worked together much, they are still inseparable, frequently joining each other to sporting events, parties and every place that calls for hardcore cheer-leading (point in case, Twitter). It’s all because of Uday, Hrithik’s childhood buddy.

John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan

They found love while working with each other on the monstrous hit Dostana and boy, did they bond. They’ve been pretty much fast, firm and faithful ever since. Not to offend their significant others, but this twosome has the chemistry to beat the likes of anyone and everyone.

Ranbir Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji

Ranbir has gone out to proclaim in a recent interview that he can put his life on stake for his family, his ‘Sheila’ and BFF Ayan Mukerji. Ayan on the other hand has often said he is obsessed with Ranbir and can’t seem to think beyond him. We hear, he is casting Ranbir yet again and this time, for a superhero flick. Looks like he is the decided hero of every film Ayan makes. Talk about #relationshipgoals.

Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgan

Rohit Shetty

Rohit began his directing career with Ajay Devgan who he now counts as a part of his close-knit family. About nine films later, they are still strong as titanium despite the whole buzz about Shah Rukh Khan being Rohit’s new muse. We suspect a cameo in Rohit’s Dilwale is a possible surprise – or so we hope.

Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor

There’s so much love here that we can’t dig enough of it. Finally, our personal favourites, holding it down for the smart funny guys out there, it’s Bollywood’s best and brightest. Their Koffee With Karan session was as epic as epic can ever dream of being. As you may know, they refer to each other as ‘baba’ and don’t mind getting roasted, baked and fried together. What’s more? They were bestowed the first ever jodi award for a male lead pair.
