It is Cannes mania on our timelines. The exuberant clothes, the idealistic movies and the red carpet shenanigans. But fashion at Cannes is not just relegated to the carpet – it appears languidly but determinedly at photocalls, balconies of the Martinez and at airports. Even galas and sundowner parties see a lot more style and personal trends than the red carpet. Movie screenings too find their share. That’s why we decided to showcase the best of Cannes style to you through these outfits that our stars wore for a variety of reasons other than the red carpet!
Shwetha Tripathi at the Masaan Screening
A delicate lilac Payal Singhal and a retro hairstyle defined newcomer Shwetha Tripathi’s look. Brownie points for wearing a lehenga and more points for letting the gold embroidery on the dupatta show.
Richa Chadda at the Masaan Screening
Katrina Kaif at the Cannes Press Meet
That Milly graphic monotone dress was just the thing the doctor ordered for Katrina. The crop-top-ish trend and the red hair really did make a mark on us. And Katrina sat on the sunny Martinez Balcony in all flair looking she stepped right out of Vogue.
Aishwarya Rai at the Press Junkets
Trust Aishwarya to keep it chic and sophisticated at all times. The star who lost oodles of weight and looked uber gorgeous wore two amazing looks by Stella McCartney. The all-white look was a delight and the wide-legged pants really gave us something to talk about!
Sonam Kapoor at the Chopard Party
This is one super dramatic look and no one can say Sonam did not try. The Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla butterfly top with a draped skirt was a delight and Sonam carried off that silhouette better than ever. Love the fuss-free hairdo.
Aishwarya Rai at The Airport
It was the most anticipated look that came at the start of this Cannes journey. Aishwarya came with her favourite little star, Aaradhya to board the flight to Cannes in a beautiful Dior top with red heels and black denims. It was such an interesting and easy look, we loved it!
Richa Chadda at The Masaan Photocall
It was nice to see Richa go simple yet arty in her first look at Cannes. The Giles Deacon watercolour dress in all of spring’s brightest hues. Paired with a fuss-free bun and nude heels, this is one look we loved on this sprightly actress.
Aishwarya Rai at UN Panel Discussion For Gender Equality
Like we said earlier, Sabyasachi has been making some great appearances on the red carpet. And no one wore him better than the Queen Bee herself. Aishwarya Rai wore a Sabya jumpsuit with a matching jacket, belt and a super cute clutch. So refreshing and so easy on the eye!
Sonam Kapoor at The Airport
Sonam keeps it simple at the airport this year. The white shirt paired with dark denims goes very well with the Houndstooth Anand Bhushan jacket and Fendi bag avec the Karlito charm. The look was so chic and effortless!
Aishwarya Rai at the Jazbaa Photocall
If Cannes had to end this way, it had to. The final look that Aishwarya gave us was worth all the hype – the demure but flamboyant Oscar De La Renta dress is simply stunning. And when it was paired with oxblood lips and fab hair – it’s a look that will stay in our minds and hearts forever!
