It didn’t look like the Mumbai film festival was going to happen this year, atleast not until the b-town celebs all got together and saved it!
It was when Aamir Khan donated 11 lakhs and prompted the rest of the bollywood to do it to with a tweet of his that went like this, “Hey guys, the Mumbai Film Festival MIFF needs our help. I’m donating 11 lakh. It would be really great if all of you came forward and donated as much as you can to make it happen! Thanks. Love. a.”
It was Shahid Kapoor who followed suit donating to the Mumbai film festival and tweeing about it. This is how the tweet went, “Mumbai – the film capital of India – should boast of a world class film festival. Lets get together and #Pledge4MAMI.”
Ronnie Screwvala, Manish Mundra, Vivek Kajaria, Nilesh Navlakha, Hansal Mehta and Anupama Chopra were some of the others who donated which to led to the garnering of a whole 2 crores for the festival. The man behind the Mumbai film festival, Srinivasan Narayanan was naturally elated on so many people coming together for the cause.
“We have so far managed to raise around Rs.2 crore. The festival will happen 100 percent, and we’re sure we will be able to manage the rest of the money. We are hoping to raise the amount by Monday” he said speaking about it.
