The Shah Rukh Khan-Anupam Kher bonhomie has been cresting of late. After Shah Rukh appeared as the first guest on Anupam’s new show ‘Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai,’ the megastar launched the trailer of Anupam Kher’s new film Ekkeess Topon Ki Salaami.
In the film, Kher has an author-backed role of a BMC worker whose dying wish is to be honoured as a martyr and subsequently his two sons make it their mission to fulfil their father’s last wish.
Taking a cue from the story, Shah Rukh spoke with fatherly affection about his own sons Aryan and AbRam, and daughter Suhana. He said, “I want a friendly relationship with my kids and I try my best to ensure this. But after a certain age the (generation) gap builds which is difficult to fill. But I was really inspired by Anupam Kher when I played his son in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The kind of friendly relationship he shared with his son (my character) in the film inspired me.”
Shah Rukh continued breathlessly, “Whatever my children do in their lives, I don’t want them to have anxious moments about what their dad will say or what he will ask them.”
Prodded to name the actors who he would like to give an ekkees topon ki salaami, Shah Rukh said, “There are many talented superstars in Bollywood who deserve the ekkees topon ki salaami” before rattling off Irrfan Khan and Anupam Kher’s names.
Shah Rukh admitted that though he admired Irrfan he didn’t play the kind of roles which Irrfan has. He reasoned, “If I do such kind of movies, there will be monotony. We do our kind of movies and they do theirs. There is a variety of movies and if all do one type of genre, there will be no entertainment.”
