Buzz is that the production house, Disney India headed by Siddharth Roy Kapur has bought the rights of Satyajit Ray’s adventurous book – On The Run with Fotikchand.
It’s been 22 years that the visionary filmmaker Satyajit Ray breathed his last but his films and literary works continue to inspire Bollywood even now. Absolute India has learnt that the production house Disney India, has bought the rights of one of Ray’s classic adventure books titled ‘On The Run with Fotikchand’.
While most of us know Satyajit Ray (also referred as the godfather of Indian cinema) as a filmmaker of international repute, there’s more to him than just films. He wrote books as well and it’s ‘On The Run with Fotikchand’ about a young boy and his thrilling journey that has apparently caught Disney’s fancy, we heard.
One of the greatest filmmakers of his time, Ray was also a writer of repute and his short stories, novels, poems written in Bengali have been immensely popular. He has published several books in Bengali, most of which has become best-sellers. A source informs, “Disney has bought the rights of the book and talks are on to make a movie based on the same.” Siddharth Roy Kapur, MD, Disney remained unavailable for comment.
