‘Vardan Aashirwad’ bungalow of veteran actor Rajesh Khanna, which is located on Carter Road in Mumbai, has finally found a owner, who bought it for a whooping sum of Rs 95 crore. The owner, a businessman named Shashi Shetty purchased the property.
Apparently, the price of the bungalow is worth much more than a mere Rs 95 crore. However, considering the fact that ‘Vardan Aashirwad’ is said to be haunted, and also further construction is limited, it was sold for a cheaper price.
Initially, actor Rajendra Kumar owned the property which was then called Aashirwad. Rajesh Khanna then took over for a sum of Rs. 3.5 lakhs and renamed it Vardan Aashirwad. The plush property then went on to the Khanna daughters, Twinkle and Rinke, post their father’s death in 2012. In the meantime, Rajesh Khanna’s live-in partner Anita Advani was reportedly claiming her share of the property in the court.
In a recent interview, Anita had revealed that she wanted the bungalow so that she could convert it into a museum. Apparently, she was shocked to find everything in the house from the carpets to the walls in a tattered and torn condition.
She said, “I had put my heart and soul to renovate the bungalow. Everything from the carpets to the walls were in a shabby, tattered and torn condition.”
Looks like things aren’t going the way it was planned.
