‘Mr.X’ starring Emraan Hashmi is based on Hollywood film ‘SALT’

After delivering a power packed performance in films like Ek Thi Dayan and Shanghai, actor Emraan Hashmi is all set to return to Bhatt camp and shoot for their upcoming thriller Mr.X. The film stars Emraan Hashmi in lead and has Issaq actress Amyra Dastur opposite him. Mr.X promises to be high on action and will release in February 2015 in 3D.

Lead heroine of the film Amyra Dastur confirmed that her second film Mr.X is based on the story of 2010 American action thriller spy film Salt that had Hollywood hottie Angelina Jolie in lead role. Though Salt was centered around Angelina Mr.X is going to revolve around Emraan’s character Dr. Vikram Singhal also known as Mr.X.

Originally Salt was written with a male protagonist with Tom Cruise playing the central character but the script was rewritten for Jolie. Amyra’s character will show her perform some mind blowing stunts. The actress expressed her excitement for her role, “my next film Mr.X where I am cast opposite Emraan Hashmi is on the lines of Hollywood film Salt. The character I play of Mili Arora is very similar to Angelina Jolie’s in Salt. So the audience gets to see me doing something totally different than my debut film Issaq.”

The film was set to be shot in South Africa but due to the illness of Hashmi’s son, the production shifted the shooting location to Mumbai. The original Hollywood film Salt grossed close to $300 million at the worldwide box office and received mixed-to-positive reviews, with praise for the action scenes.

Mr.X is written and directed by Vikram Bhatt and produced by Mahesh Bhatt under Vishesh films. The soundtrack has 3 compositions by Ankit Tiwari and few other music directors.
